We learned a tough lesson while pouring this big basement floor.

  • We were hired to pour this big basement floor. The house was set on top so we had many challenges to get the concrete in there and even more problems with heat and ventalation when we got into finishing the floor. 2 of the guys got sick from bad ventilation and excessive heat. We all learned something that day and that is why we pour the floors before the house is set on it.

Looks great, really see the hard work this one took and feel for you haha. Man you poor guys need a line pump service out there. We dont have many basements in Arizona, but any time I have to do more than a yard or two inside a house I can pump the job for 4-500 bucks. Its pretty rare for me to wheel anything. If I cant hit it with a chute or would have to wheel/ ferry with a skid steer/ or rake more than a few feet I spec a pump in. From what I have seen it looks like small line pumps are not as common in other parts of the country. We love them here out west.

I bought a new Sure-Trac dumper before covid and can't believe the price hike since, it doubled. They all now have went to this ridiculous barn door tailgate, there has been many times with the normal tailgate where I have it flat, can't imagine driving with the barn doors open. Nice job, luv my trailer.

This is typical of the basements in the houses we built back in my day.
We always put 3/4” plywood rips on top of the footing around the walls leading to a sump pump pit but we never used any wire on the basements. After the concrete cured we pulled the plywood out, and it created a place for any water seepage to get to the sump pit.
We used the floor joist as a level and used a stick cut to the concrete height.
We didnt have lasers, just transit type levels, but the stick worked well.
