Thanks for watching We installed a shower base later and the bottom of the drain on the shower pan needed some room to connect with the plumbing that's why it's left the way you saw it in the video. I left that flower pot so that I have a bit of room for the bottom of my shower drain.

A quick question: I went to HD and there are a lot of different concrete mixes. Is this sand topping mix strong enough? I asked the person there and they said it was fine but just wanted to ask here too - the last thing I want are some structural issues happening down the road because I used the wrong mix.
@renovationschool8818 thanks for the quick answer. My concrete is 3" thick and on this it says up to 2" thickness that's what made me suspicious. Edit: I'm a total beginner, so please educate me about this
Thanks a lot for watching We live in Canada and abs pipes are extremely expensive. The building code allows us to use PVC underground Anything above ground has to be abs. By using 4-in PVC pipes I saved about $400 in the price of my supplies. As you mentioned I could definitely do the whole thing using ABS pipes.

I would have used all gravel no dirt. 6 inches of gravel on all sides of the pipe as I.P.C. And A.P.C. Requires. Just get rid of the dirt in this scenario.
That's great until an inspector fails the entire job for using those big ass uneven slabs of concrete for support instead of pea-stone or sand. Glad I work in a state that doesn't allow hack jobs. Take some pride in your work
@@lereveure for god sakes when was the last time an inspector showed up for backfill anyway???? what the guy calls" big ass uneven slabs" are broken pieces of concrete and they secure the pipes just like making a foundation for it. we have a lot of people who just know how to comment only. if by any means this mr american is so good please make a video and teach us all how to do it the right and american way!!! show us the right way MR Not HACK!!! can you communicate with someone being that disrespectful and full of himself ???? someone who thinks he knows too much!!!
@@briansegall1084 does the inspector come after concrete is done to to see what's under it in US???? Right when everything is open and the pipes are completely visible they come and see it After they left I poured the concrete!! They saw what they needed to see. There is no code indicating how to pour concrete or what exactly to back fill with.

I like the garden hose on the compacted area. It also rinses a little more dirt down around those bigger rocks. If sand is available, it is perfect.

You shouldn't use large chunks of stone or concrete for fill. They don't move well and can cause cracking

I may have missed a previous video, but why did you transition from ABS to PVC and then back to ABS again? Why not just use ABS for all of it?

If u go around 3 inch thick every bag go about 3 squar feet area
It's always better to have some extra.

I have a question how much Toilet flange b must be above the ground ? Or it should be under flash with floor?
Should be at least level with the finished floor
But it's best if it sets about a quarter of an inch or 3/8 above the finished floor

We use mortor to fill the gap for bricks
This sand mix concrete and perfect for this application.
And goes on extremely smooth and nice.

No sand, rebar, mesh, or plastic vapor barrier?
You didn't see the sand I put in?
It's not a driveway to need rebar or mesh.

Yep, were is the vapour barrier?
No,no,no big pieces of cement rocks are just not recommended because you will have air pockets where the cement or gravel wont go in .

There is no code indicating how to pour concrete or what exactly to back fill with.
Underneath the pipes not underneath OF the pipes. You don't need 'of' in that sentence.
