They almost cancelled the build altogether!!!!

- From the very start this job was a nightmare for this couple trying to build their dream home. You won't believe the trouble they had trying to get a foundation built. I was the second Masonary contractor on the job and I had a mess on my hands to deal with.
You do nice work man 👍
Thanks.
I was thinking...those steel pins should have safety caps on. Next minute...someone nearly falls on top of one. A safety cap saved me the other day.
Close call yes you are correct.
Wow labor intensive!
Very close proximity to the one neighbor.
Boy I’d be pissed if I was the neighbors on either side. All they’ll see is the house. No view of the lake.
Tough site. As usual you guys do great work!
They all bought a lot with a back view, not a panoramic view. They all have a view off the end of their property. If they wanted the panoramic view they should have pooled their money and bought the lot themselves.
I was just coming to say the same thing..my my.....
Neighbors should have bought the property.
Wow! Amazing overkill by homeowner on that pour but love the quality work you guys do.
Thank you
I'd give up the View to make use of all that Concrete and have a Basement and No Neighbors ... Nice Work as Always !!!!
Cheers for the cool video, enjoyed watching. Slab and block work looked beautiful when all said and done. Proper job 👌
Thanks Steve 😀
Nice job. If I was the owner, I would have requested storage under the porch for yard equipment and an access door.
I took my first fishing trip on Lake Ontario with a charter out of Sandy Pond.
Fish Wish Charters, his wife had a taxidermy business in Port Ontario.
That was in 1985.
Good job Bondo, you will sleep well tonight. lol
Small world My uncle owns Salmon Country Maria.
Man, what a disaster! All that concrete just for a crawl space floor, OUCH! Nothing better than coming in on the last guys mess and cleaning it up, but that is why they wanted you to do it so bad. They knew you could pull them out of it! Great Vid, Thanks!
Exactly, a very expensive porch !
Built to last for sure.
@@BillyLapTop IKR !
The dude has a lake in his backyard, he’s not to worried about the price of the concrete
@@JLD5500 It is a nice view
I did this work my whole life , brings back so many memories, Good job ,Big Paddy 👍🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
Good video on what's wrong with people
Beautiful craftsmanship and end result. Fantastic video.
The last guy to deliver is always called "tail end Charlie"...that's the law!
I like it. LOL
This guy has made an enemy of his neighbors for the rest of all their natural-born lives. Why did he build such a monstrosity on that little lot?
Yep my thoughts exactly
Because he can. He had to get a permit to do it.
Who drew up the plans. There are set regulations on all of this.
Who cares what the neighbors think..fk em
If it met building codes its nobody's business.
Ya All do nice work. This looks like a perfect example of architects and engineers designing with other people's money.
Can't believe your comments on design. But one thing for sure, maybe two. Solid as hell. And they helped the economy. 😅
In the middle of a gigantic pour the neighbor changes his mind about parking??? What an #$@@$*%@&whole.
It was the wife...😅😅
Dang I used to fish up in that area for many many years could not believe the density of the houses on the lake! And why people would want to be on top of each other like that!! Good job as usual Bondo! Oh yeah architards!! Love from southwest Co
Yes the houses are on top of each other. Thanks for the comment John.
Can't count the beach / ocean side communities where houses right up against each other.
You guys work hard and your work looks fantastic.
Channels just popped up on my recommendation list. Hello from Syracuse!
Awesome I am 45 minutes North of you in New Haven. I hope you subscribed 😀
Thanks for showing us the process. Nice job!
No problem glad you liked it.
Neighborhood loves there new neighbors
I'm thinkin' these folks won't be very popular with the neighbors.
nope I would have told him to go to hell too.
just joined you guys do a great job
Thanks buddy.
Long battle, well done! I get shoulder replacement surgery a week from today, I guess 40 years of concrete is starting to catch up. Hope you've healed up and are back at it, I'm going one more season, been one hell of a ride!
Good luck with your shoulder Phil. Mine is getting better and better.
Don’t the home owners have to control his water run off? Looks like he will be flooding his neighbors
We put drains around everything and separate gutter drains as well.
I bet this is going to be an awesome floorplan with beautiful views. The neighbors have got to be agg, I'd love to see the build hopefully with no drama.
They might as well put a fence up now. Relationship isn't going to get any better.
Sounds to me the lady's wear the pants in the neighborhood 🤣🤣 Man what a waste of concrete lol 😂👍👊
I think she wished they waited for me but thats playing Monday morning quarterback.
One word to the neighbors. Approved take it up with the city.
don't you just love people like that moving into your neighborhood with their pile of money? most americans just want to be left alone.
WOW! That was one EXPENSIVE pour. It is good the concrete plant was willing to supply you in a timely fashion.
Yes they are great to work with. 😀
You do some real nice work enjoy watching true craftsmanship.
Great work. Can tell its a passion for you guys and you take pride in your work. That's important these days!!
Thank you
Had they got you from the start, I bet this would have gone A LOT smoother. 👍🏻
That house is going to be an absolute eyesore for the neighborhood.
VERY instructional vid! Thanks!
That house is going to 'tower' over the neighbors house.
It does LOL
Just wondering why they did such a generic finish on the porch why not use stamped concrete with some design and add color they spent that much money already but still a very awesome job guys 👍
Wow ! I bet there were a lot of hurt feelings surrounding that job …? Neighbors losing their view, homeowners paying out the nose for concrete waste, contractors flaking on the homeowners….man, what a disaster. At least I sure hope that was a hefty pay day for you Bondo! 💪🏼 So much could have been done differently. Seems like the engineer was even a flake…..jeez. It’s just money though, right? Can’t take it with you
Ya I have never seen a luggage rack on a hearse. LOL
Neighborly love, nice work 👍
Yup. Thanks Andy. 👊
Great job. Genuine question….is that wire mesh too light, shouldn’t it be tied rebar?
looks like this house is way to big for the size of the land.
Beautiful work … you turned it around🤠👍🔨
Nice job Bondo. I know nothing about pouring concrete. Can you explain what's the purpose of the saw cuts. Does this eliminate the need for expansion joints?
It gives the concrete a place to crack. Kinda guides it per say. Same as a expansion joint would.
My new favorite channel on TH-cam 💪💪🇺🇸🇺🇸💪💪
Awesome thanks 😊
Oh man talk about extreme pressure on you and your guys I’ve done a fair bit of concrete work but obviously nothing like what your doing lol, it was quite a great accomplished job site and I’m impressed great job gentleman. Alberta Canada. Thumbs up 👍
thanks I am glad you liked it yes it was a big project.
First truck was the optional tree trim truck! LOL 😂 We used to call that lube stuff snot! LOL 😝 Gee, a mason having shoulder surgery? Nah! Got 1 reverse replacement, working on the other side soon, and a hip replacement, already done, just things you have to look forward to with that profession . 😢😊👍
Ya its rough on the body if you let it get ya. LOL
Yes Sir, I just watched this video and I really enjoyed it. I’m an old concrete guy myself. But I heard you say that the owners paid $16k for 98 sq Yrds, so is that the price concrete is going for in your area?
Anyway, I’ll be catching up on your videos. Thank you for sharing.
Vitale was the 'crete company when the masons were pouring my cores. The furthest end roller bearings on the conveyor froze and ripped the whole conveyor out halfway into the pour. Masons had to switch to pouring from a chute trucks. Fortunately, the trucks were able to drive all around the walls.
Thank you for your interesting work day.😊
Blue tee shirt is free after 100 yards... Maybe next time...
Soooooo close LOL
Wow....Big Job there Bondo. Looked just great when you got it done!
Thanks for watching and the comment. 😀
Holy cow. Serious seven layer burrito there.
Ya ai know crazy
Very nice work lad’s 👍👍👍🇬🇧Manchester England 🇬🇧uk
Thanks buddy
what a waste of concrete, time and labor. that first "contractor" should have been sued. i think he was trying to take these people for a ride.im sure bono could have done this with half the concrete and done a better job. not fun trying to takes someone elses lemons and make lemonade.
we concrete guys just cant say away even when we should. i fractured my radius in my right arm and i was back the next day using my left for everything. it sucked but now i can finish equally well with either hand.
job looks great!!
Great way to waste 50 yards of concrete!
Man, that is so close to the line, i am over here in MASS and I believe we have a 6 ft from boundary rules on buildings…i guess in NY they are a little more relaxed about this…Job looks awesome! Great video and detail of what you were doing. Keep em up.
With that broom finish, you'll never slip. Better wear your shoes when you walk on that!
The monstrosity that is being built there between the other homes. It’s no wonder that the neighbors are pissy. Their views have been hampered of the lake !
True but they could have bought the lot if they did not want someone to build there.
Well you know what they saying , then buy it all. People buy lots , then some one else buys lots in front, people get mad well buy the lot in front then . Everyone has a dream property.
Lots of wasted concrete with those porches done like this
Who sits out on their back porch all day long looking at a lake. 😅😅😅
I like that your doing cuts. Why do they not put control joints in most foundations?
Lemme get this straight- they excavate, fill, pour a finished slab, build CMU walls, fill it with rocks, pour another slab on top of it, and add wood on top of that to make a porch? Why is this not either piers or a ditch footing? Seems incredfibly wasteful in terms of materials and labor to build a breakwater for a pond. What am I missing?
I explain this in the video how we ended up doing it this way. Was not my plan. There was no wood used on top of the porch floors. The concrete was the finished floor.
I'm seriously confused as to why this was built 4' out of the ground to the floor, and why is wasn't just built on the slab like ALL the houses surrounding it?
I knew an engineer that figured out that 24" foam for a shopping center in Ontario. It's now code approved
So in this video I noticed you mentioned you are from central New York and I know you don’t use pumps much but if you need one I own 3 booms and two trailer pumps and we would be glad to come and pump for you guys we are out sauquoit we have double 90’s for ice walls also
What is your company name and I will let you quote our next pump job? Thank you.
We are jlm concrete Pumping and thank you hopefully we can do some business together
There is no such thing as over building.your crew did an amazing job. The crawl space is tall enough for storage and who cares about the thickness of the concrete the home owner was in a bind and he may have paid more but he got the job done.
Thank you 😀
such a sad situation for the homeowner, just throwing money away. I absolutely understand getting the finished floor height up to improve the view, but they could've likely saved tens of thousands had they brought Bondo in earlier. Stem wall, fill in lieu of slab, ugh.
Ya it was sad to pour it so thick but it's never going anywhere thats for sure. LOL
Yeah no matter what we do as builders it will all be gone someday.... Nothing we do is in the "never" category. Hell even the great pyramids are falling apart. ;)
But I get what you're saying!
@@nbco55 Those pyramids are in good shape for the age. LOL
I just wish I could say the same thing about myself...
@@nbco55 LOL 🤣
What is your mix ratio for your stucco? I really enjoy your content, sir. Guessing this home was on a city sewer? Really close quarters.
The first time I ever saw a poured crawl space was here in NC. The owner/contractor was originally from New York and had moved down to Carolina to be near to his family.
The subs loved having a concrete pad to work from 😃
Very Very good work guys!
Do you do jobs in the Red Creek area have a barndominium build happening in the next 9 months to a year. Watched a lot of your videos and saw 315 on the truck. Realized your in my area.
Maybe if we need the work we will travel a little.
Nice , you guys are the best.
Thanks 😀
Awesome job, by the team👍🏿
So I poured 98 yard on a house slab yesterday.
Dang so about an 8000 sq ft house ?
No only about 2500-3000 sq ft LoL 😂
Nice job brother.👍🏻🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
Thanks bud.
Ok, who did it........ I bet it was biscuit that went for a piss in the "parking lot" and "pissed" the neighbors off.🤣
I worked with a cement finisher in Phoenix and I NEVER saw him underestimate mud. Pretty simple math really, getting off by 1/2 yard or more is one thing, you missed the 98 yard mark by 20 yards!😊
I thought that was his eye-ball estimate...and didn't want to roll concrete into his bid b/c he knew it'd take a lot.
Super awesome to watch. What connects the block wall to the bottom slab? Just drilled rebar ?
That was a big pour it came out nice and man did u have a lot of road blocks with it being so close to everything but ya got a great crew and that make the whole job go a lot easyer when everyone knows what needs to be done again nice job
Thanks Gary. Once the concrete pad was in it was not a bad job but that was the main thing I was worried about with this project.
Might be a dumb question, but why fill in the porches? seems like you could have had a crawlspace below the porches too.
They did not want the space under there so we just filled it in to pour the concrete cap. .
@@bondobuilt386 thanks for the reply. I’m addicted to your channel bro, and the TH-cam algorithm knows it.
Great looking work.
that one neighbor on the right looking from the lake has small windows and a patio door on the backside. their only view is when they are outside on the patio and a gazebo
I'm from Elmira, NY. A dieing town. Maybe dead. I left in' 72. I live off grid on 40 acres. Getting concrete here is a nighmare. One hour up shi-t dirt roads. 250.00 EXtra.
Owner should have known better about the water table. We call those grade beams in Wisco
Actually the excavator or architect should have known better. not the homeowners fault.
Great job as usual . I did driveway pavers just to make money one summer 30' x 200' long with no helpers . The plate compactor took a toll im sure lol
15👍's up BB thank you for sharing
Thanks Scott
nice neighbor.. nice job guys!!
That looks like a huge house compared to the neighborhood.
It is way bigger than the neibors.
😅.... It's just basic mentality. I can build bigger than you.
The city, county should have never issued permits for a house that size in that lot. Exactly why HOAs exist.
Great looking job
Thanks new Sub. 😀
Just curious, why do U use a pump on the easier ones ,and the conveyor truck on the awkward ones ,love your work.
And so ends another Bondo binge watching day for me 🙂
Yep, definitely a waste of $. Mono slabs are good, especially on poor foundation soils. A shallow foundation with a short stem wall, would work.
Good thing Dimon was there supervising hehe
Yup 😄
I guess the owners wanted to raise the house a little more off the water line. And so would I just in case. cheers
Great job guys !!!!!!
Thanks Joe
Why didn’t they just stay with a slab floor instead of creating a crawlspace and then a joist floor?
I don't get the last bit where they are parging on the wood. That won't stay.
BONDO CAN YOUGIVE ME SOME ADVICE ON HOW I SHOULD BUILD MY SHOP I WAS THINKING I WOULD BUILD RHE SIDE WALLS OUT OF BLOCKS THE I WOULD FRAM WITH WOOD WHAT WOULD YOU DO CONCRETE BLOCKS WOULD HAVE TO GO UP 26-30 FT
Dang! With that much concrete, you could pour another Hover Dam.
Yup probably lol
Straight away, one of your guys tripped - right next to rebar pegs without mushrooms!!! Oh dear, another prosecution here in England. All "mud" guys are them same the whole world over - stick with the good'uns - plenty of the other kind! Most pump men will demand two bags of portland cement to lubricate the auger - never seen that little bag of magic beans.
Rule of thumb on this job within sight of a friggin great lake - piling in the U.K. without doubt. Though I know from being down in Florida, Buena Vista lakes and Kissimmee - you guys were slapping down thinner slabs than your one for damn massive £200k mansions.
Love yer neighbour troubles - usually I don't tolerate any of that - if someone promises me something they have to keep their end of it absolutely - or my lowloader and bulldozer might have a series of unexplained breakdowns.
You'd never see timber formwork these days here in U.K. except for very small one man band kind of operations - all metal, available for hire at many yards.
On the concrete plant side - you intimate that they can give you a few problems - my last job was the apartment block mentioned before and I used about the same amount 90yds+ in the basement - first six loads came one after the other - the next three two hours apart - they were diverting to a government job no one told me was on! Thus me and the crew were still laying at 21:00 with me and a volunteer staying all night to polish. Not a word of apology or compensation from the company.
Great blockwork again but could already see cracks a few days later - you went to the trouble of sawing the oversite slab but no expansion joints in the walls??? We have ti place them every 20ft.
You do a good job of consolidation - a bigger wacker than many use here - bigger jobs have to have a compaction test ( we had lots of failures year ago when stuff was just site sweepings thrown in!)
Excellent broom finishing - I did about five miles of the M4 Motorway when I was about 16 - walking back and forth on a GOMACO American roadlayer.
After all your work - I see the carpenters are erecting another chicken coup on top - clad 4 x 2 - oops sorry 2 x 4's! Forgot where I was! My last job was a seven story timber frame, most of it built from sticks on site into panels for placement - exteriors finish up 12" wide glasroc filled
Finally - I couldn't stand looking at so many stomachs and man boobs - we're all skinny over here an move one hell of a lot faster. Very interesting to see how you roll though.
👀💀
New, what is the name that concrete at those porches facing the lake? Help me understand this. Why would they put concrete underneath dirt. Flooding?
On our big commercial work we generally have a 3”+ or minus mud slab to work off . There’s so much plumbing and electrical that needs installed within the slab so you can’t fasten unistrut to the dirt .
All that for a crawl space lol
