    30inch wide footing with a stick of rebar is something I can dig ( I like) in my region where the water table can be higher then normally where it is anywhere else. Super wide footers to displace the weight to a much wider space then a normal situation. Like building a pontoon raft house bigger and more pontoons u have the better results u will have living on the bayou

    Great idea to use house wrap to keep that footer dry so that moisture doesn’t wick up into the walls. Love watching those Doodles racing around. Looking forwards walls going up.👍

      Right! I see first time on YT somebody thinking of water barrier. Another solution would be tar paper 2x under first layer of ICF - this is what most EU countries require in builders code...

    42:11 don’t see a sweep T, only see a 90. Won’t frost heaving pull the unglued pipe joints apart over time? Or were they glued later on? Enjoy the channel!

      This will be a frost protected foundation with foam board. Our frost depth is 48' without the foam

    How far down did you dig for the drain? Then filled the drain full of 1-2's a few inches from surface?

    I'm curious what is your frost depth in NY ( your area? 36" ?

      48" deep where I live but this will be frost protected with foam board.

    I'm assuming that with the creek that runs by there that the water table is high, and you're not able to dig down below the frost line?

    hey at the minute 5:25 you have a steak where the outside wall is marked , you said 9 inches away from it is the edge of the footer ....if its a 30 inch footer shouldn't u go 10.5 inches away....just curious if it matters ....i start my project in the spring cheers

    Have you ever used those fiberglass re-rods? They weren’t available when I was in business, I don’t know if I would have confidence in their lateral strength, but I don’t have any experience with them. They claim they surpass steel in every way. 🤔

      They are useful for much more than reinforcing concrete.

      @@Musclecar1972 One is that you can make a masonry fence by driving them into the ground in a row 16” or 24” apart. Tie on wire mesh. Trowel on colorized mortar. No rot. Lasts forever. Later, I will describe some other uses.

When I was in business I used to carry 15, 20’ 1/2” rods at a time, to speed my jobs along, and I can tell you, they were heavy! LOL That’s also why I had a reverse replacement on one shoulder, and need the other one done as well. All you needed to be in the masonry business back then was a strong body, and a weak mind! LOL 😂 Thanks for getting back, I never thought about using rod of any kind in that application. 👍

    Ever try the Corning bar? The fiberglass stuff? Seems like its going that way with some of the other guys here on YT.
    As far as the J-hook thing... Throwing a 3" 90 at the end of the vertical bars shouldn't hurt, right?
    (Not in the trade, sorry if im dumb.)

      I have never tried the fiberglass bars yet. a 3" 90 would not hurt but it would be more labor to bend them all and unnecessary in this aplication.

      Hi. Thanks. We do not put a pitch on the drain just run it flat but the exit line should have pitch.

I am surprised that the ICF manufacturer does not make videos involving Habitat homes as a selling point of ease of construction for other Habitat chapters. What is name of county or name of your Habitat group? I m trying to find a Habitat chapter using ICF closer to WI. Thanks.

      When using sewer and drain perforated we always tried to pitch the pipe a little maybe 1/2” per length but usually started top of pipe at top of footing the furthest from exit

    I've been following Perkins Builder Brothers and they've been building a fairly large house in their current series, they're like 2 months and 18 episodes in and they're just coming to the end of the concrete work. Your process looks so much more efficient that it probably wouldn't have taken your crew more than a week to complete the concrete, 2 at most.

    Without simi-permeable wrap around that drain pipe, the pipe will get clogged with dirt.

      We put fabric over the stone before backfilling.

      I’ve seen that fabric clog up and not let water into the pipe. I wouldn’t want it around the pipe

    QUESTION: Hypothetical scenario, Let’s say you’re tasked with building a ICF with 2 levels underground and 1 level above ground. Your hole in the ground is 23’ and you will be using 12” ICF block. What would be the dimensions for your footer? Thanks.

    Hi Bondo, I think you need to use a french drain for this job. The pipe drain you are using is not meant for this application. It is meant for a septic drain to drain the waste water coming from the septic tank.

    The drain to the creek does it have a one way flow valve, if not when creek floods it floods the drain round house floodingitis noit good long termas you know.
