    I appreciate all the support! I'm cooking up a series documenting this in depth with a brand new character! Stay tuned! If you could, please consider subscribing on your way out if you enjoy Starfield content like this. I have more in the pipeline!
    BTW: Sorry about the keyboard noise! New keyboard gets picked up by my mic. Ordered a boom arm today to so the next video should be clean n' clear!

    Excellent overview - new sub. I have >1200 hours in Starfield w/minimal Outpost stuff but I was today years old when I learned one link can transfer more than one material - DOH! And I've even completed all Steam achievements which required me to setup a couple of cargo links... double DOH!

    I'm already using Charybdis II as my organic ressources supply planet. In fact I named my outpost on there "My Little Farm". I never checked the other planets in the system, so I actually have a network of outposts in different systems, and Eriadni II being my main hub. But it's a hassle to manage. I will make it my priority to re-locate everything to Charybdis. This looks just sooooo much easier to manage! Thanks for pointing that out.

    Finely, just what I've been looking for, Having outpost scattered throughout all of the solar systems and constantly having to log out of game just to pull up my many spreadsheets with plant resource lists to find what planet had what hopefully is over.
    When it comes to my playthrough, I can't stand the constant noise from the cargo ships so I tend to find my forever coastline home which is just across the waterway from Eren's Camp on Hyla II "Andreja's Quest" and place down only one cargo link at that location and then creating a hub on a different planet and having all of the resources pipped in from that hub onto just that one link thus reducing the noise to just one cargo link at my home outpost.

      @THEJimmiChanga  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      The noise is absolutely wild at my hub. At the time of writing this, 6 incoming cargo links. Absolutely FPS tanker as well as constant ships blaring.

    • @Babyboomer_59
      @Babyboomer_59 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@THEJimmiChanga As a matter of fact I've also considered just creating a large warehouse at the hub location and pretend it's a Costco and just go shopping with a newly crafted cargo ship when supplies run low.
      Another idea would be to just shut down the cargo links once you have enough mats in the containers at your outpost instead of continuing to add more containers, once you run low just start them back up again, I'm one that doesn't like clutter. :)

      @@Babyboomer_59 I'm holding out hope where just as fallout 4 seen various "wasteland workshop" expansions, that we will get various outpost expansions. My fallout 4 settlements are absolutely mad. A couple of them are essentially small towns. To be able to do that in Starfield would be excellent. To have a hub like this double as a massive trading hub full of vendors would make A LOT of sense, and further incentivize doing this.

    I have a few hundred hours in the game & have watched a couple dozen outpost videos - only just now after watching 2 of your vids has it suddenly made sense why I would want to do this. As my favorite comedian, Brian Regan, said: Somebody throw a tarp over me, I’m a moron!

    Sound strategies overall, but way overkill on the amount you store on your home out post.
    Your never going to need that amount ever.
    But I do like the one shop reasoning behind it all,especially when you combined it with animal husbandry.
    Each player has a different take on game playing and yours has to be one of the best thought out systems I've seen yet.

      @@sauronblue1 Choose a solar system to build all your outposts in. That way everything is contained to one area. It also allows you to use the cargo links that DONT require fuel. From there, chose a HUB planet (your main planet). This planet will have nothing but incoming cargo links. All other planets that you build outposts on will push their resources to this planet. At the end you'll have one planet receiving all the resources youll need to craft anything.

    Loved your video. I have tried to make outposts to manufacture amp and because vendors sell materials, it just was not necessary. In a hardcore mode where vendors do not sell materials, outpost for resources might become mandatory. If a DLC allows us to manufacture ammo, i will give it another go for maybe a heavy weapons build with the bridger/negotiator since 40mm XPL is rare . I wished you could manufacture ship parts too.

  • @Rogue.13
    @Rogue.13 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

    I’m not sure of the point here. Outposts are either credit/xp farms, for that you just need Bessel III-b to farm Adaptive Frames and Isocentred Magnets, or an Amp farm (multiple options) If you need resources for upgrading gear you then just buy them. The other main use of outposts is… to build bigger and better outposts, which means you’re going to want most/all of the unique resources, which means 8-12 outposts in 8-12 different systems, in addition to most of the raw resources. There are a couple of guides on how to get all the resources, but these then require collection and manual manufacturing. I’m working on getting the right set of outposts to not just farm everything (needed) but to fabricate and ship parts so everything is automated. Sadly my time is limited and that’s a big complicated job, that may not be entirely possible, but it’s something to work to.

    • @THEJimmiChanga
      @THEJimmiChanga  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

      Like in Fallout 4, this mechanic can be entirely avoided if the player sees fit. This just provides options for people that don't mind putting in a little bit of time. The main point is being able to land on one single planet and craft/mod/build anything you would ever need as well as quickly grab any resource for cargo contracts. The added benefits are being able to XP farm if you so choose and turn all of this into money by outright selling resources, materials, and parts. This also keeps it simple having all of your outposts under one star menu, preventing you from having to click around from star to star. No need for fuel in your cargo links either. This may seem overwhelming and an unnecessary time sink at first, but I promise it's worth it. It doesn't need to be done on a large scale like this either. That's the beauty of this system, it's scalable.

      I would like it if they integrated things like this more like have a business empire quest line. There are a few things like that in the game where I wish they had pushed it a couple steps further, more smuggling content, a way to capture enemies alive for bounty hunter content etc. They can't have everything in though if they ever wanted to release the game. Still it is a different way to do things in a sandbox game. That in itself is why things like this exist, for the people who like outpost building and the idea of farming your own resources.

    • @THEJimmiChanga
      @THEJimmiChanga  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @Ahglock I agree 100%. I love that kind of stuff. Honestly I have 100s of hours into the FO4 settlements alone simply because it's so open ended with the possibilities. Bethesda definitely regressed from Fallout 4's settlements to Starfields outposts.
      Modding is where you're going to see this first. Once the creation kit drops Stafield is going to turn into a playground and I'm here for it. I'm going to cover all of the bigger outpost mods. I should probably upload some fallout 4 settlement videos as well as new vegas run the lucky 38.

    Great system. In my experience the only resources you use enough of to justify outposts are iron and aluminum. Everything else you can just buy when you need it as you'll probably need less than 50 total units through an entire playthrough.
    Or just make a single plutonium or Dysprosium outpost and use the credits from that to buy anything you could ever need(200k/trip).

    Do you really need all these resources? I'm at level 25. I've built a home base. I've made over 700000 credits just looting. I have so many resources at my base that I installed a mod that expands the amount my storage crates hold 10x, otherwise you have dozens of crates. All this without setting up outpost mining. I have found great gear , spacesuits and guns so no need to mod them yet. Maybe there is something later in the game that requires more resources?

  • @MrGBags66
    @MrGBags66 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

    great video! I am part way through my first play through and have outposts scattered far and wide. My plan is to have a super-hub outpost where everything is brought in so I can mod weapons and space suits and have the necessary resources for other outposts. Then, I started to think, why would I need that if I have everthing already available being shipped to one super-hub. I understand that something will happen after I progress further into the main storyline so I want a fortress surrounded by containers where I can craft to my hearts content. I also have an outpost that receives all the resources to make Vytinium Fuel Rods as my XP farm. I like the idea of cargo links within the same system as that isn't buggy and can ship multiple resources without a problem. However, the inter-system cargo links are currently buggy.

    • @THEJimmiChanga

    Great video man! So much useful informatoin. Let's say you daisy chain the cargo links together. So outpost A sends resources to outpost B, and outpost B takes those resources from outpost A and forwards them (along with the resources produced at outpost B) on to outpost C. Can you link the "incoming" box on the outpost B cargo link directly to it's "outgoing" box? Or do you need to first put the resources coming from outpost A into conventional storage containers and then link those containers to the outgoing box on the cargo link? Thanks!

    • @THEJimmiChanga
      @THEJimmiChanga  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Just link the incoming box to the first bin of a storage chain and then the last bin of the chain to the outgoing box of a different cargo link. That's how I have mine setup for a few planets (a to b and b sends both a and b planets resources to c). Hope that makes sense. I'm going to do a video in these "advanced" techniques next after I finish editing the current one in working on. I work a full time job so sadly a video every week/week and a half is what I'm shooting for. Any more questions feel free to ask

      I'm not sure what you mean.. I showcase a metric ton of cobalt and aluminum in my chain coming from different planets within my system here. The key is, and the purpose of thie vid is don't focus so much on finding a singular planet with everything and focus more on finding a solar system that has everything. That way you can funnel everything to one planet via cargo links.

      Well, you can mine resources and sell them or craft with them. There are some missions where they ask for 5000 units of Argon or something, and the easiest way to do that is to have an outpost that mines those resources. And there are some missions which involve setting up cargo links. Yeah, you don't have to do those missions, but for the people that do the outposts come in handy. It's totally optional; I didn't build an outpost until way later on, because the building system absolutely sucks, especially when compared to No Man's Sky. And even then I don't use them much, except when doing ship building because you can build a landing pad which will allow that.

      @@timdutton2056 like briefly stated in the video. It saves you money never having to buy resources most importantly. You can fill various staryards resource contracts very quickly. But it also enables you to farm credits and xp. A setup like this can easily net you 1000s of credits/xp every minute by crafting various industrial bench items. For me personally, I just use it to max out all mine and my companions gear. However, if I do need a level to aquire a perk, I can easily xp farm to aquire it.

    Maybe I'm not experienced enough in the game to understand what's going on, but after forcing myself to sit through this silent video, I have no idea what I'm supposed to learn/ takeaway from this. You use captions here and there, so you know how, but didn't think it was necessary to voice-over or caption the vast majority, with many skips and flips and edits all over the place, that feel like an ADHD commercial to me. Was it important to show hunting down the people? If so, why? Did I need to see you pick up ammo at 11:30? If not, why wasn't that part edited out or remixed around? Just because you know what you're trying to illustrate, doesn't mean all viewers will get the point without some explanation. Even if it was a pain to voice-over or caption, you could put time-stamps in the description with a few sentences describing what you're trying to point out. For example, at 12:30, you're saying that we should put everything in one system, not use the advanced links, then you jump to a nighttime hunt at an NPC outpost, where you try to snipe a guy, but miss, and then suddenly we're back to day in another spot, just hopping around containers. Why are these particular segments edited together? why did you put the shooting in the middle of there? I'm guessing the point of the vid is to say we can take over npc outposts, but if so, just say that and tell us how you made it work, rather than scene after scene of you shooting at people and what you have in containers- how did it all get IN the containers??
