    Thank you for posting I was there. I was also at the Rose Bowl. My recollection is that early people were excited but as Ohio state took the lead people were scared.

    I remember being at a Boy Scout/Cub Scout Camp the night this game happened. No problem, People brought TV's and Gas Powered Generators so no one missed it.

    Great day for the Big 10. Was at Michigan Missouri that day. Michigan 31 to 7. Got back to the car and listened to Michigan State 10, Notre Dame 3, then watched this when I got home. Missouri was ranked 5th then

      @@ProjectChaos77 his nickname was one of the greatest all-time Buckeye nicknames! Can you remember it? I sure can. And he also put one of the fiercest hits ever filmed in CFB in that season’s Rose Bowl when he smoked a UCLA player so hard the Bruins helmet quite literally exploded. That was the only thing that made that painful loss bearable.

  • @gregj831

    In reality this game was a huge boon for UCLA and they got a good clear picture of what they would face in Rose Bowl. They got home field advantage and were ready!

      Bowl games 🏈are different; ; it more of a chess game: Michigan didn't get a indoor training building until like 1979/1980/ it hurt them in bowl games:; rosebowl football is different; pac ten football team play on rosebowl grass field it at least twice a year before rosebowl

    • @69FOSTER
      @69FOSTER 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@lloydkline1518 UCLA moved from the Coliseum into the Rose Bowl in 1982, so before that, the Pac-10 played on the Rose Bowl turf the same amount of times as the Big 10. I'm a huge UCLA fan, but we would've been better off if Ohio St. won that Rose Bowl, UCLA would've kept Vermeil.

    Good decision to let the Bucks wear their Scarlett jerseys that night. In the whites the two teams would have been hard to distinguish. Like Purdue OSU in 2002. That game had a dumb look.

    Unfortunately this was the last really good Woody team. They should have won the National championship. Had a horrible second half against UCLA in the rematch in the Rose bowl. The truly bad thing is it would have given the Archie teams a Nattty. It would have allowed Archie and Woody to ride off into the sunset with the Natty. Rumor was that Rose bowl was supposed to Woody's last game. That would have allowed him to leave on a true high note instead of the way it ended for him. Damn you Vermiel.
