Murder in the Village: Bruce McArthur and the Mysterious Deaths in the 1970s - The Fifth Estate

  • UPDATE - February, 8, 2019: Serial killer Bruce McArthur is sentenced to life in prison with no eligibility for parole for at least 25 years for the murders of eight men in Toronto. www.cbc.ca/1.5...
In early 2018 Bruce McArthur was charged with six counts of first-degree murder in the deaths of missing men from Toronto's gay village, the news of an alleged serial killer shocked a community, a city and a country. But the case is far from closed and as the police continue their investigation, the death toll is expected to rise. The allegations are that McArthur spent years masterfully covering his tracks. McArthur denies all the accusations.
The police are also looking as far back as the 1970s when McArthur was a young man in his twenties, working in downtown Toronto.
Then, as now, death stalked the village. Then, as now, tensions and distrust between police and the gay community hampered the investigation.
The Fifth Estate uncovers the stories of men from Toronto’s gay community who were brutally killed over four decades ago. Many of those cases are still unsolved - cold cases that are now being re-opened.

Well, you could be right, yes he was young then, but look at Jeffrey Dahmer who first killed at 18, then didn't until at least 10 years later...
We'd have to know if McArthur was in the same area at that time.
Also, his parents looked after many young boys in his youth.
He may have abused some of them or been abused by them...

If he started at 66, the first one could have been an accidental death during some sort of sex act, he then panicked, disposed of the body. Afterward, he became excited about the idea of what he had done, and how he got away with it, decided to do it again...and so on.

I do think MacArthur was responsible for at least some of the murders back in the 1970s, refered at 3:40
While some question why nothing in the 80s or 90s, it's been shown that some serial killers to go thru 'dormant' phases...I think Macarthur's 2010-17 killings are just too sophisticated for an elderly amateur. The 1970s murders, killer murdered victims mostly in their homes, leaving body where the killing occured. Most of the 2010s killings involve hiding and dismembering the bodies...in the 70s MacArthur had a wife and no place really private to take prospective victims...by 2010 he not only had his own apartment, with just a roommate but he also had that storage building for his gardening business..and a van. A mobile killing scene and literally the tools of his 'other' trade, to hide the bodies and evidence.

One of them went on record as saying to women, "If you're assaulted by a man, you may as well lay back and enjoy it, because resisting will only anger him and make it worse for you". Swear to god.
