The Murders of Dellen Millard : Laura Babcock & Tim Bosma - The Fifth Estate

- เผยแพร่เมื่อ 21 พ.ย. 2024
- Dellen Millard was a rich kid who stood to inherit millions from his father's aviation business. But he was into self gratification - the kind that came from throwing wild parties and engaging in petty crimes like robbery and drug-dealing. And into his life walked Laura Babcock, an impressionable young woman and an aspiring actress. The deeper she got drawn into Millard's web, the more dangerous it became. In the summer of 2012, Laura Babcock disappeared, never to be seen again. Last month Millard was convicted of killing her, just as he had been previously of murdering a young man named Tim Bosma...This is the story of the murderous ways of Dellen Millard.

So, the Police are liable for the death of Tim Bosma. They knew Mallard was a murderer but decided not to act. They have blood on their hands by deciding not to act and arrest this man.

I am tired of police who are paid by tax payers discount anyone who goes missing that has issues of " high risk" lifestyle! Drugs, mental health, escorts... Nobody should be murdered without our police giving everything and all resources they would give any other missing persons case! Im disgusted.
The more money you have the more you can get away with. There's a saying "life isn't fair". It's disgusting like feigna 2711 said.
feigna 2711 thank you for saying that! This is the reason a lot of women don’t seek help when they are having issues. They stay quiet and then it becomes too much for them and they get into trouble, only to be judged again. It is sad that police do not see the value of a human life if the person has a past.
Rich, narcissistic serial killer and a worthless police dept is a recipe for disaster. RIP to all of the victims.
The head cop and dept (from Hamilton) that was in charge after Tim and his truck went missing did a great job, the same can't be said for the ones before though.
The best recipe. Get the idiots out society and you get survival of the fittest.
Looks to me Dellen and his father are both victims in this. Setup (possibly by the mother) All that money and positions of power in aviation, what happened to all of that?

I know nothing will help the woman who's husband was murdered but I wish I could give her a hug
Give her a spiritual hug, love has not boundaries nor borders in the spiritual realm. Or just say a prayer of blessing for her. She will feel it. LOVE knows no bounds and has no boundaries.
moniquemonicat I wish there could be more people with love in their hearts as yourself and Lesley Allinson have shown with your comments. It is good to know there are still some good people with pure feelings.
She seems like she would be an excellent lawyer or politician. Sometimes a phoenix will rise from the ashes....I only wish her the best. 😧
She's an amazingly strong woman wife N mother. This was our hometown we helped in the search I drove as far as Brantford N delivered posters of the tattoo to many tattoo parlours in hopes of an artist remembering. My uncle was an artist N suggested doing it. I'm glad they found the killers but heartbroken a little girl is being raised without her father that was an amazing father to her she was his world
Or a truck
I wonder why it is that nobody ever nails the cops for the fact that 'she's high risk' doesn't translate to 'start looking NOW'.. doesn't 'high risk' MEAN likely to be the victim of foul play? They seem to interpret it as 'oh well, nobody cares'.
I'd like to give your comment about a thousand thumbs up. This is part of the problem behind Missing & Murdered Indigenous Women & Girls. If they are living 'high risk' lives, the cops treat them as throw-away, less than human. It's rampant in Canadian police & RCMP. So the women most likely to be hurt are the ones the cops are doing the least to protect & help.
Hey there, I see you on many of the comment sections of most of my political shows. What a coincidence I'd see you here lol. Small world.

Right or do it by a safe company!!!
I refuse to let my husband do Craigslist deals unless they literally agree to do them directly in the Houston PD parking lot. If someone's not willing to do that in broad daylight I'm noping out.
Mandy C. 👍 especially if you’re selling your car.
Coming to their house made no difference in this instance he still left with them. Maybe follow behind them in a separate car? Actually in my town the police have a designated cctv highly monitored spot in their parking area to sell/buy Craigslist or FB marketplace items, they also have an area for parents to exchange custody safely of their children. I think this is a great protocol for more area police to implement.
There should be trials held for the police so called investigators who passed up on Laura's case....thanks to them there was more lives that were destroyed.
ABSOLUTELY!!!
We definitely have a two tier justice system.... I have experienced it first hand...
He killed his own father years earlier
It was ruled a suicide.
After these murders the PD reinvestigated his dad's death and he was then charged for that....

Shocking attitude and bumbling failures of the police. If they had taken Laura Babcock's disappearance seriously, when her very caring and tenacious ex-boyfriend came to them with his concerns and a name, perhaps Tim Bosma's death could have been prevented. Awful.
Debs .
I absolutely agree but on the other hand, these kinds of requests come in the thousands into police. 99% of missing people are safe and sound. And I bet each family is just as worried. So it isn't as easy as it may seem to pursue each case with tenacity.
I love The Fifth Estate! I've been binge watching these but I am tired of the incompetence of the Canadian police.
Don't lump them all together like that, it's ridiculous. That's like saying all black people are crack dealers.

After watching several crime stories from Canada, I think its safe to say that Canadian law enforcement is uncaring and completely inept.

@@Curious-Irish-Angel How does the coroner screw that up? Embarrassing for them to have to admit that it wasn't in fact suicide.
The saddest thing is that he didn't have to do any of this!! Most criminals live a life of crime to have the money and perhaps the lifestyle Dellen already had. This makes Dellen even more evil, even more so than.. say Edmund Kemper. Who knows who else he would have hurt if he wasn't caught?! I am pretty sure he wouldn't have stopped.
Most male serial killers don’t do it for money and don’t “have to do any of this”. They enjoy it, it’s a power trip and they want to do it. Female serial killers are known for their very common motive of financial gain, but not men. It’s usually power or sexual motivation.

I love the fifth estate. Thanks to You Tube I’ve gotten to enjoy your excellent work on some amazing stories.
My husband worked for Millardair in Malton for not quite 3 years (1970 - 73) when Dellen's grandfather owned it and operated it. Occasionally his son would bring Dellen for a visit, he was around 5-6 years old and he was a handful even then. My husband commented how disrespectful he was to his grandfather, would hit and kick him for no reason and would also purposely break items and take terrible temper tantrums when he couldn't have something. The employees would avoid engaging with him whenever possible. He was also publicly physically and verbally abusive to his father as well. He grew up very privileged with the best of everything, funded mostly by the grandfather. No one ever corrected or controlled Dellen's behavior. I remember my husband saying that such behavior as Dellen exhibited towards adults spelled future trouble in that family.

It's called a 'faint hope clause', it exists for the sole purpose of helping to keep order inside prisons. If prisoners have no hope at all of getting out they have no reason to obey any rules. They are given good behavior points if they behave which they proudly display at their parole hearings.
They are equally pathetic in Australia
TJ Michael money hunty
Will be 75 years once he is charged with his fathers murder as well, by that time he will be deceased
TJ Michael What are you talking about? The USA has Casey Anthony walking around! 😒
" she was the life of the party" that phrase cannot be left out in any crime video., ever.
Possibly bipolar - manic phases. Know one. Might explain her sad descent into homelessness, etc.
Always listen to your gut feelings.
25 years only??? are you kidding me?
Jedidja B .
Great segment. May Dellen and Mark rot in prison forever.
erica They literally most likely will...😐
13:29 so Tim Bosma would still be alive if the useless cops acted on Shaun’s concern!! 😡😡😡
27 he look every bit of 50, kids just say No to drugs
Its hilarious the subtitles on my phone are calling him Snitch instead of Mitch hahaha.
LOL!
Toronto justice is for sale.
Gives the word narcissist a whole new meaning....
He's not only a sociopath, he's a psychopath.
I love this channel 💜
Tim's widow speaks so passionately, eloquently and powerfully when she described the despicable murderers.
6:33
I heard "threw her a 20 second birthday party" not 22nd birthday party but then realized what it was saying lol
That mug shot of Millard, he looks like an old man that just took his false teeth out!
😂😂👴👴🖒
Lol
That picture is the reason why I stopped vaping
This is very serious and RIP to the beautiful girl. But the way that lady says "wannabe gangsta" was hilarious.
*Gangster
What an awful police Dept I sure hope they changed after this
Well they definitely dropped the ball, but seeing as this type of murder spree is likely to never happen again, I would hope the Hamilton police department wouldn't shuffle their resources towards being extra-vigilant against it happening again...
which one???
The policies are made up and those with the money win.
While incompetent Rob Ford was in power there, the focus was on his drug use, and not on other crimes.
I can with certain say it hasn’t
The police who ignored Laura’s case should be charged & trialed for man slaughter
accessory to it yes.
More like negligence
I guess money talks. The police work felt like they were just being forced to do their work.
Shame on the police for not helping.
I believe to law is just to convict NEVER protect
Michael Walsh serve and protect themselves
Tim Bosma's wife said "It was just a truck." And that really resonnates with me. My Mum lost a friend in the 90s. She was living at his family's lodge at the time. He was just 21. Blonde, blue eyed, very handsome, extremely nice, fresh faced young man. Two men pretended to want to buy a second hand car from him and lured him into the forest. They shot and killed him for a piece of metal worth 50-250 bucks. It just kept raining over the days when his family and friends were searching for him. Open casket when he was finally found. His body was bloated beyond recognision from the water. His killers are most likely never going to be found. He had never got to experience having a girlfriend, getting married, and having kids of his own. My Mum was just as young when this happened, she went on to have a loving family while he was forever frozen in memory at the age of 21.
My heart aches for the victims and the family left behind.
Canadian sentencing laws seem quite similar to our Australian laws.... It must be a Commonwealth thing based on British law?
I can't imagine their pain
yes, based off english law, I too have noticed the similar terminology and formalities with CDN &AUS law system....sentencing guidelines and penalties seem to be on par with the two nations...I take it NZ is similar to AUS also?
Orlando Pelletier ...
Yeah, a lot of emphasis is put on rehabilitating the offender.
Our two main opposition parties agree on two things here,
1). No death penalty
2). Strict gun control (not ban,...just control) lol...
New Zealand's a pretty awesome country also :-)
In England we have a law that gives a killer like this one a sentence that is called 'whole of life' this means they never get out.
In Australia they make celebrities out of serial killers.
@Sherry Drake he won't get out. Parole board will say "no"
Always, always follow your gut. When I was really little I was playing in the front yard alone. A man drove up to the side of the yard and tried to coax me to come towards the car from the window. He said he needed directions to the bank, I was just 7 or 8. I hesitated and felt a strong urge to stay rooted and not go near this car. My mother stepped out of the house immediately and ran towards me. The guy drove away fast. I often think what horror would have happened. Sex trafficking, rape, murder. It always stays with me...
The Toronto Police dropped the ball on this one. Period! There is NOTHING they can say! Tim would still be alive, and maybe even Dellen's dad would still be alive had they jumped on the information, the ex boyfriend provided, sooner.
The former boyfriend, Learner, looks like a movie star, very handsome.
aaronsdavis you’re right, or just stupid.
@@paxsmile I'm thinking the latter.
aaronsdavis Or they just weren’t right for each other? You know that’s a thing, yes? No? lmao
So sad, the police have blood on their hands for sure! Prayers to the families. This should NOT have happened!
So many red flags with the test drive. Tim knew deep down something was wrong
Being from an affluent background, i can confidently say it is too easy to get in the trap of bad habits and lifestyle. Thankfully, my parents made sure I see the reality of life by never making the car available, never the pocket money but told me to earn on my own and that will make me value money. I had a lot of grudge against them as a teenager, but as an adult i am forever grateful.
I need a friend like Sean Learner in my life ☺️. God bless you!
You should be a friend like Sean Lerner.
they've now been sentenced to a minimum of 50 years. 45 with time served.
Have him sent to a Brazilian prision, that'll make him regret what he did
Didn’t she have any family? How can people leave a 23 year old so alone? I don’t get it.
the cruel reality of this world is sometimes hard to comprehend.
Some parents aren’t parents
I think I read she had recently been diagnosed as borderline personality disorder. If so, it might explain her family not being close. Many with this disorder are extremely difficult to be around and mostly come by it via poor parenting.
I love this channel. Great investigative journalism 😊
The police did not even have the guts to admit it made a big blunder!
