Great video Barry! I'd give a honorable mention to Randall Cunningham in 1991; He was coming off of a season where he finished 2nd in MVP voting and got hurt in the first game of the season. Eagles defense carried the team ranking #1 in total yards, rushing yards, and passing yards in that season. They didn't make the playoffs and started 5 different QB's so who knows what would have happened if Randall was the starter for the full season.
Yeah, it does suck how his career might be over. Think about it he’s 40 in December Achilles injuries even with all the technology we have can still be big blows. Aaron Rodgers could run around pretty well for men in his late 30s that might be gone. I mean damn the Jets never have any luck.

I think Carson Palmer tearing up his knee in the 2005 Wild Card game against Pittsburgh deserves to be on here. Cincy had an outside shot to make some noise in the playoffs that year with a solid defense that took the ball away and an elite offense with Palmer, Chad Johnson, and Rudi Johnson. Then, he was immobile the next year and couldn't build upon his breakout year. By the time he got back to healthy, he injured his shoulde and wasn't really the same guy again until his resurgance in Arizona. If nothing else this injury possibly changes Bengals history, as maybe they win it all that year (stretch, but they should have been contenders at least) and he doesn't go on to force his way out of town in the 2011 offseason, and the team doesn't have a decade of Andy Dalton under center, and maybe with Palmer and those pretty solid teams they actually don't go on to lose 5 straight years in the Wild Card round.

Led the Raiders to an 11-3 record while being solidly in the MVP discussion that year, only to break his leg week 16 against the Colts. Not only did the Raiders look much weaker that year without him (lost wild card round to Brock Osweiler) but Carr never looked like the same QB as he did that szn. After that injury he was noticeably scared in the pocket & would make bad decisions constantly when being pressured. As most of Raider Nation would agree, Carr’s injury in 2016 completely changed his career.
Fun Fact: Similar to Simms/Hostetler, there was a quarterback struggle over Bledsoe/Brady. Many fans still wanted Bledsoe as their starting QB, while a lot of other fans also wanted Brady to start. It’s no secret now as to who won more people over, but Brady was still young and not the Brady we know today, so people preferring the more experienced Bledsoe isn’t too weird.
I'm only 21 years old, but Bert Jones was great. I've been around family that are very knowledgeable of the NFL and seeing some NFL Films featured on him and those 70s Colts teams definitely made me know him. I believe in 1975 they had the "Miracle On 33rd Street" when they went from a laughing stock to a Super Bowl contender, however for a very brief time. I think Jones tore his rotator cuff and back in those days they didnt have the tech to properly diagnose the injury and go through the right rehab, like we do today. He got robbed.

While you never want to see that happen to anyone, that may have actually been the best thing for the team. Theismann was having a bad season, 83' was his peak and he was going the other direction. Gibbs was loyal to Theismann, it forced Gibbs to move on from him and it led to another SB a couple seasons later.
Honorable mention 1980 Dan Pastorini. Acquired by Oakland in a trade to be their starter gets hurt and forced Jim plunket into the starting role when he helped the raiders win the first of 2 championships that he came off the bench to start for them

I honestly feel like Peyton Manning’s neck injury in 2006 in a home game against the Redskins deserves to make this list because it would end up leading to the neck issues he later developed in the 2011 season (no seriously look it up). Had this injury not happened, it’s entirely possible Peyton has the same career length as Tom Brady and the Colts never “Suck for Luck”.
Spare a thought for Sonny Jurgensen. The Dolphins played against Billy Kilmer in Super Bowl VII instead of (arguably) the best pure passer in the history of the league up to that point. If Sonny hadn't been injured, who knows what might have happened.

Without finishing this video, freshman Troy Aikman of the University of Oklahoma broke his leg against the University of Miami. Aikman gave up his dream of being a running QB (the Sooners hadn't discovered the forward pass yet) and transferred to UCLA and became a pocket passer. His whole career does not happen, he probably doesn't get drafted if he stays at Oklahoma. Arguably, the best thing that ever happened to Aikman was breaking his leg.

Our team almost moved to San Antonio after Katrina, but we never gave up on our team and they stayed in New Orleans. This team, this state, and this city truly holds a special place in my heart. I already know nobody cares, but the J in Majkowski is silent. 😜 Also, the 1992 injury may have led directly to Favre, but it was an injury two years earlier that I think really set everything in motion. In November of 1990, Majkowski was coming off a Pro Bowl year where he finished second in MVP voting to Joe Montana and was putting together one of the hottest four game stretches in his career when he tore his rotator cuff in a game against the Cardinals. Not only missed the rest of the 1990 season, potentially costing the Packers a playoff spot, but he was never the same after that injury. If the rotator cuff injury hadn't happened and led to that awful 1991 season he had, he might have gotten the starting job back when he recovered from the ankle injury in 1992. Hell, with a healthy and productive Majkowski in the fold the Packers might not have even traded for Favre in the first place.
The Packers hiring Ron Wolf basically guaranteed that Favre was coming to Green Bay and would play sooner rather than later. He wanted Favre badly when he was with the Jets, but the Falcons took him one pick before he had a chance to pick.

But if Majkowski stayed healthy and productive like he was in 1989-1990 pre-shoulder injury the Packers never would've hired Ron Wolf. With a 10 win season in 1989 and a playoff appearance in 1990, I don't think Tom Braatz and Lindy Infante get fired even if they do collapse in 1991. They would have been given at least one more year. And with Green Bay off the table in that offseason, the entire Ron Wolf/Mike Holmgren/Brett Favre/Reggie White train might have ended up going to Tampa Bay instead. I know they were the other major suitor for Holmgren before he ended up in Green Bay.

I'm a pats fan, and I still find the Brady stuff to be hilarious. Not even because I don't like Brady (there's a million reasons I don't like him), but because its just hilarious how much you can hear that Barry genuinely despises him. The only comparison I can make is Urinatingtree's feelings on Big Ben (which are honestly my feelings on Brady). Even then, those don't quite rise to the levels of Barry's hatred for Brady. The rabbithole goes even deeper: If Shanahan's isn't fired in 2008 by the Broncos, does he end up as coach of the Redskins from 2010-2013? If his coaching timeline is changed, what about his assistants there like Kyle Shanahan, Sean McVay etc.

Here's an interesting question - do you think if Drew Bledsoe never got hurt in 2001, assuming he stays healthy throughout the early 2000's and Tom Brady never plays, the Patriots still win a ring with Bledsoe at QB instead of Brady? I think they would've won anyways in 2001, Bledsoe came in during the 2001 AFC Championship against the Steelers in real life and the Patriots defense was loaded with talent. If Brady could win as a game manager that season I think Bledsoe could've done it too. If they still finish with an 11-5 record and don't lose to the Raiders at home in the Divisional Round I can certainly see it. Of course, Bledsoe would remain with the Patriots after 2001, as he had a ten year (!!!) contract at the time, but I'm not sure he would've won more rings in 2003-04 like Brady did as Bledsoe got older. In an alternate universe there would be serious debate whether or not Bledsoe deserved to be in the Hall of Fame if he wasn't replaced by Brady and he had a ring or two thanks to Belichick and a rock solid defense. After Bledsoe inevitably declines as he gets older and eventually retires during the mid-late 2000's what would the Patriots look like then? They would be just another team entering a rebuild looking for their next franchise QB. Would Belichick still be seen as an all time great? We would be talking about the Steelers (second) dynasty with Ben Roethlisberger or the Colts dynasty with Peyton Manning. Maybe another team also emerges as a Super Bowl champion like the Chargers, Eagles, Panthers, or Seahawks. As a Steelers fan it would've been a much more fun timeline instead of dealing with a plastic surgery merchant for 20 years.

I honestly feel like Peyton Manning’s neck injury in 2006 in a home game against the Redskins deserves to make this list because it would end up leading to the neck issues he later developed in the 2011 season (no seriously look it up).
Had this injury not happened, it’s entirely possible Peyton has the same career length as Tom Brady and the Colts never “Suck for Luck”.

Without finishing this video, freshman Troy Aikman of the University of Oklahoma broke his leg against the University of Miami. Aikman gave up his dream of being a running QB (the Sooners hadn't discovered the forward pass yet) and transferred to UCLA and became a pocket passer. His whole career does not happen, he probably doesn't get drafted if he stays at Oklahoma.
Arguably, the best thing that ever happened to Aikman was breaking his leg.

Defenders are now forced to defy the laws of gravity when taking a QB to the ground, and even then they can be flagged at the referee's discretion, because the legal target area is currently roughly the size of a postage stamp. The pair's injuries combined have made the NFL a less watchable product.

Not only did Drew Brees come back stronger, but the city of New Orleans and the Saints came back stronger. Our team almost moved to San Antonio after Katrina, but we never gave up on our team and they stayed in New Orleans. This team, this state, and this city truly holds a special place in my heart. Also, the 1992 injury may have led directly to Favre, but it was an injury two years earlier that I think really set everything in motion. In November of 1990, Majkowski was coming off a Pro Bowl year where he finished second in MVP voting to Joe Montana and was putting together one of the hottest four game stretches in his career when he tore his rotator cuff in a game against the Cardinals. Not only missed the rest of the 1990 season, potentially costing the Packers a playoff spot, but he was never the same after that injury. If the rotator cuff injury hadn't happened and led to that awful 1991 season he had, he might have gotten the starting job back when he recovered from the ankle injury in 1992. Hell, with a healthy and productive Majkowski in the fold the Packers might not have even traded for Favre in the first place.
The Packers hiring Ron Wolf basically guaranteed that Favre was coming to Green Bay and would play sooner rather than later. He wanted Favre badly when he was with the Jets, but the Falcons took him one pick before he had a chance to pick.

But if Majkowski stayed healthy and productive like he was in 1989-1990 pre-shoulder injury the Packers never would've hired Ron Wolf. With a 10 win season in 1989 and a playoff appearance in 1990, I don't think Tom Braatz and Lindy Infante get fired even if they do collapse in 1991. They would have been given at least one more year. And with Green Bay off the table in that offseason, the entire Ron Wolf/Mike Holmgren/Brett Favre/Reggie White train might have ended up going to Tampa Bay instead. I know they were the other major suitor for Holmgren before he ended up in Green Bay.

I'm a pats fan, and I still find the Brady stuff to be hilarious. Not even because I don't like Brady (there's a million reasons I don't like him), but because its just hilarious how much you can hear that Barry genuinely despises him. The only comparison I can make is Urinatingtree's feelings on Big Ben (which are honestly my feelings on Brady). Even then, those don't quite rise to the levels of Barry's hatred for Brady. I legit can't tell if he's playing it up or not.

The Broncos were fresh off an AFC Championship Game appearance with a great defense and run game, but felt they needed an upgrade at QB over Jake "The Snake" Plummer. Instead of signing Brees they drafted Jay Cutler, the whole thing didn't work out. The ripple effects include the firing of Mike Shanahan and Denver signing Peyton Manning in 2012. The rabbithole goes even deeper: If Shanahan's isn't fired in 2008 by the Broncos, does he end up as coach of the Redskins from 2010-2013? If his coaching timeline is changed, what about his assistants there like Kyle Shanahan, Sean McVay etc.
I didn’t think the Broncos were in contention for him were they? All I remember are the Dolphins and Saints. Though Brees going to the Fins does mean Nick Saban doesn’t go to Alabama so no dynasty.

Here's an interesting question - do you think if Drew Bledsoe never got hurt in 2001, assuming he stays healthy throughout the early 2000's and Tom Brady never plays, the Patriots still win a ring with Bledsoe at QB instead of Brady? I think they would've won anyways in 2001, Bledsoe came in during the 2001 AFC Championship against the Steelers in real life and the Patriots defense was loaded with talent. If Brady could win as a game manager that season I think Bledsoe could've done it too. If they still finish with an 11-5 record and don't lose to the Raiders at home in the Divisional Round I can certainly see it.
Of course, Bledsoe would remain with the Patriots after 2001, as he had a ten year (!!!) contract at the time, but I'm not sure he would've won more rings in 2003-04 like Brady did as Bledsoe got older. In an alternate universe there would be serious debate whether or not Bledsoe deserved to be in the Hall of Fame if he wasn't replaced by Brady and he had a ring or two thanks to Belichick and a rock solid defense.
After Bledsoe inevitably declines as he gets older and eventually retires during the mid-late 2000's what would the Patriots look like then? They would be just another team entering a rebuild looking for their next franchise QB. Would Belichick still be seen as an all time great? We would be talking about the Steelers (second) dynasty with Ben Roethlisberger or the Colts dynasty with Peyton Manning. Maybe another team also emerges as a Super Bowl champion like the Chargers, Eagles, Panthers, or Seahawks. As a Steelers fan it would've been a much more fun timeline instead of dealing with a plastic surgery merchant for 20 years.
