What a coincidence! Today I was looking for de_mirage cs 1.6/cz version, to see how was the older version and you just uploaded a video about this map. Thank you 3kliksphilip!
Philip, throughout every videos of yours i'm glued to the screen and don't even have a thought outside of the content of the video. No other person does this for me, I just love how you narrate and create a sensation that keeps you almost involved with the video. From the music to the clips going along with the narration makes your videos wondrous to watch.
i remember strike fondly. I also remember the fixes they added to balance it and then called it mirage. I still have some clips from my old CAL matches on my HDD somewhere. Too bad they never fixed or balanced cpl_fire. Thank you for the kick in the face nostalgia feels.
i'll be honest i don't play CS or even remotely care about it. but hot damn your videos are always so compelling and a joy to watch! dunno why, but they're great entertainment. good job and keep up the great work!
I have such fond memories of rising through the CPL ranks from Cal-Open to Cal-Premier with my team way back when. Scrimmages day after day, coming up with new strats for the CPL maps (mill was always my favorite) and testing them in game. The communities of 1.6 were so full of life it seemed, no matter which community you called home there was always something new going on, thanks to the countless number of people like you Phil who put out maps for the community. Man I miss those days.
What a great video. Love the series where you interview map creators and showcase the story, and in this case, what theyre up to today. Was very happy to see he is still involved, and with Mapcore too. I swore off of Hammer editor a few years ago, I just can't stand how cumbersome it is, but the Mapcore lads were great in my limited experience with them.
Thank you for every dev who worked on mirage, my favorite map, as a movement player, mirage mid is quite literally the most beautiful thing a zhun and franzj fan could ever hope for. Especially the vent.
You know that happy, but sad nostalgia you get from watching old 1.6 maps.. thrown back to 2008 when i used to sit in my boxers and robe in early mornings, playing, didn't worry about life. Scratch my nuts while yelling at russian hackers. Harmony. Peace. Big ass screen Office chair from the 90's. Huge round headset.
If something that facinates me in (source) mapping, is how you can keep the gameplay layout and give it any theme you want. Case in point, from the cold brick and mortar of 1.6 to a full blown theme park. Just incredible.
THANK YOU! This was a lovely video and mirage is my absolute favorite map as I love playing aggressively with the awp. Keep making great videos Philip and thank you to BubkeZ for making my favorite map. :)
Back then when we were mapping for 1.6, we had obviously the other maps in mind. It was hard to come up with something completely different from what was done, especially because players were not keen to learn new maps. In fact, CPL maps were only popular in the US, and pretty much despised everywhere else. Great video anyway, that took me back in the early 2000.
Really great video! I loved hearing what he thought about all the angles and other bits in 1.6 mirage, really showed his love and appreciation of the game
as a person who plays this game everyday an has invested hundreds of hours playing meeting wonderful people i can say this is the best csgo an cs source channel ever!!!!!!!
Samarth Mohan I mean it’s not wrong to give a video a view you need to watch a certain amount of it. So make fun of TH-cam all you want but it’s got you beat 😂🙄
Im proud to say, that I downloaded de_iris in its early days and honestly was super surprised on how it turned out. It is awesome and an inspiration for me as I have been working on multiple map layouts and have new one in mind and have been working on it now for a few weeks. Phillip has been a huge inspiration as well and I hope to finish a full layout and map in the year.
I love watching these videos and learning about the workflows of different mappers "The first version of dust was made overnight and dust2's layout was scribbled in minutes" "Here are all 38 pre-release versions of strike before jt was even publicly playable"
The only competitive matches I have won were on Mirage... Then again, I have only won 2 :( EDIT: Thanks for 5 likes! More than I ever have gotten before :) EDIT 2: Thanks for 20 likes! That's so much! EDIT 3: Shoot I just won on Inferno, well I just ruined this comment.
Hey Klilsphilip! I like your clips and just to tell you.... keep the good work up! You are definitely gonna help people in finding info about maps, knowedge or just people just chilling watching your videos. Keep up the good work and I wish you to get a million subs in short time. Best wishes, Martin

Mirage is my favorite map mostly because it’s the only map I get over 50 FPS on
How?
@@perry714. Mirage is the map with highest fps in csgo right now. It used to to be dust2 before it was updated.
Do you play on a laptop or something
You could squeeze out extra 10-30 fps by disabling in-game fog. But that's hacking.
