so your just using any place on the line, doesn't need to be an actual point? Is Icon using some type of fitting algorithm?

That’s right, 2 points anywhere along the intersecting lines. iCON is using these 4 points to determine an intersection, orientation and position.
Think of it as drawing 2 triangles to position the Total Station in the drawing.

What if you show up to a site with no drawing but there is an internal corner of two "walls" that "intersect". Could I shoot some points on the wall to get the correct angle and build a sketch, and then go into the as-built wall setup and re-shoot the wall? would that work? then everything thereafter is relative to that setup? How reliable would this setup be compared to a resection to control points?

      Hi CR3DT,
You could do that but you’d have to make sure you measure the same spots on the two intersecting walls. In that scenario, I would measure the walls, put up some stickers / texta marks, and measure them as control points. Then I would sketch in your new design. This way when you setup again, your sketch will be aligned to the internal corner of the two walls & your setup will be as accurate as a resection off control points.

      Thank you, that makes sense

@@CRKennedyGeospatial does icon build support the use of the tablets camera on the Panasonic/leica controller?

@@CR3DT An iCON site licence gives you access to the camera & linking photos to measured points. If you have the iCON Build licence, you’ll need to purchase the additional camera licence.
You can also use the Panasonic camera outside of the iCON software. Hit the windows button and search for camera.
