    It says it is hard to tear so you could be okay with the bottom thickness. You could use your clear silicone in the gun to fill places like corners with silicone that you don’t need filled. Snip them out when ready or put a piece of thick plastic across the edge before you pour. It isn’t silicrete, it is silicreate. As in to create something with silicone. We all do this sometimes when it isn’t a real word together our mind just picks the obvious. I have a sister that does it all of the time and it is a real thing. She is very intelligent. 🌷

    Fantastic. I really want to have another try at resin art. I set some paper flowers into half round moulds but they came out with very crinkled surface and not beautifully transparent like yours. Maybe the mould was too flexible because I got flat tops instead of domed. However watching you has given me the encouragement to try again. Thank you 😊 from Lady Penelope

    Here's an idea to make that silicone go further In the areas that a negative not part of your mold place some stones or unneeded items to into the negative spaces pushing that extra silicone into the areas that you need it because in the corners is quite a bit of wasted silicone then when you remove your mold you can just remove those items you used in the negative spaces to push that silicone to where you needed it. It's just for your use so it doesn't have to be beautiful or you could actually put shapes in there that you could reuse later when you make your silicone coasters you can make those little silicone designs as well such as crystals etc

    I always get a lip on my coasters and I figured out why. It's because on the molds I have are thinner on the bottom than the rest of the mold and that's what causes the lip. These turned out very nice!

  • @BrendaBodwin
    @BrendaBodwin 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Refrigerate silicone after pouring for an hour or two and that removes the bubbles. I make/pour molds for soap making, quite often. (Much firmer silicone mold than used for resin). You can put a bit of mica in a or b for color or 1 or 2 drops of food color to a or b if you want color of to be sure its blended well, or, if you just want the mold to have color. I don't use a pan. I buy corrugated plastic and, cut it, 1 layer, not all of the way through, fold the sides up, and use packing tape on the outside to secure them. Works perfectly again and again. This allows for depth if you want a beeper mold, and, allows you to make it the size you need with no excess space that can waste silicone. Corrugated plastic sign sheets are available in most hardware stores. The sheets are near the yard signs, ie; "for sale", "beware of dog", etc. They are blank and white for making your own signs. Various sizes. Very inexpensive. These can be used over and over. I've never had to replace one.

    Julie, you've done it again!!!! You are fantastic to say the least. Do you find that doing your own molds are cheaper than bought ones? Mind you, like you, I agree that there should be 6 of everything. When you buy cutlery, place mats etc, there is always 6 of everything isn't there. I hope the weather is good for you in Queensland, Australia, even though it is your winter? Weather in the UK is not too great for our summer!!! Though, we did have fantastic weather right from March this year. Love everything you do. You are a superb teacher and bring enthusiasm and optimism to everything you do, a true inspiration.
