Dear Myre, you have such a wonderful, positive, and brilliant personality, and I truly appreciate the affection you have shown to Ethiopians. However, I am sad to learn about the challenges you had to deal with. You are absolutely right regarding the currency, Internet, and transportation problems in Ethiopia. My hope is that things will improve in the future, and I would like to see you return back to Ethiopia because we feel that you are among one of us. Have a safe flight, dear brother.
I am originally from Addis Ababa/Ethiopia, and I agree with all the six points, but the crime stat is up compared to what it used to be. One more con is that the cost of living for the locals and inflation are getting out of hand. Thanks for the honest first hand experience. With love from Philadelphia, PA, USA.
@@myertravelsYou ain't lying. It absolutely ain't Philly, Newark or where I'm from NYC. I tell my wife when I'm in Addis that this is nothing as compared to what I come from, 70s-90s NYC. And thank God it isn't & I pray it stays this way. But my wife told me that Ethiopia is going to open up it's boarders soon so that foreigners can buy property. I don't know how true this is but it's what she said. We shall see?
Thank you for posting some of the important positive and negative feedback about Ethiopia. Hopefully, we will learn and get better in those areas and keep up with the positive aspects.
Myre, what a nice, polite, humbel, and down-to-earth person you are. I enjoy watching all your different country videos, and I'm amazed how nice you are to people everywhere you go. Continue being you. I wish all the success in everything you do. Sorry about what hade happened to you in Addis. Desperation makes people do all sorts of things.

That is a good summary of Prons/Cons about traveling to Ethiopia. Thanks. I thought you would mention language as a barrier though. It means we passed that one for now😅
That’s on part of the foreigners though They need to learn the local language to communicate. The locals are not under obligation but do try their best to break the barrier that’s why I think he never mentioned that. But I’m a big fan of him.
Thank you for your honest unbiased pros & cons. I'm from Ethiopia (Eritrea) same thing, but lives outside of Los Angeles, and I know the weather is as beautiful as Southern California. I'm glad you mentioned about the lack of wi-fi, or the weak signals. In today's tech everyone depends on the internet and it's content. I haven't been to Addis in many years, I've subscribed your channel, cuz we love it. The people, the food, culture and the weather is just awesome.

We're here in Ethiopia for couple of months now and as you said this is a beautiful country with a rich history. Amazing people with a vibrant culture. Key to enjoy Ethiopia is to blend with the people and culture. Your TH-cam videos were so helpful for us during our move to Addis Ababa. Thank you Myer 🙏
Waw you are an amazing person and I can tell the purity of your heart. Please keep posting your experience in Ethiopia. I completely agree with the pros and cons you mentioned. Hope you will go out of Addis next time to the surrounding Oromia region (and cities like Adama). Thank you bro and greetings from Norway.

Hello bro, that’s a wonderful comment that our city administration give attention! I’m an Ethiopian living abroad. Your comments is perfect! Ethiopia is unique in many things!!
Thanks bro your honest and humble opinion and as ethiopian expat. I have been thinking the same thing, especially with CONS points. I'm very familiar with Pros points since I am an ethipian myself originally. I had bad experience with the accessibility/ availability of the internet and it gets even worse as you go outside of the capital and to regions . My need for internet was only for basics but I can't imagine the immense inconvenience you encounter professional tech users like you. Definitely money is another negative issue . In one return trip I left with 3000 birr and thought it was good idea to keep and use in the next trip. Returning after 8 months, they told me my bank notes had zero value and because it was suddently replaced the banknotes for political reason. Another time I departed with 1500 birr and when retuned next trip to Addis I couldn't find t and where I lost ? Probably I lost it somewhere in different airports.
My brother loved your videos and your honest. Loved your attitude and I can definitely kick it with you if I ever walk in to you there. Keep it coming from all over the world!
Those public transportation are highly efficient for locals. It’s hard for foreigners because they not familiar with the town. In Public transportation and large gatherings always keep your hands on your belongings.
Hi myers..... sad to see you leave😔😔😔 but i just wanted to let you know in case you didn't that there is a monthly package for mobile hotspot which costs 1000birr. So next time youcome back here which i have a feeling you might try using that and the probably will get better by then. Peace c ya....

Thank you for sharing your experience. I would love to visit Ethiopia one day. Also, ppl pick pockets everywhere. The trick is to not look like a tourist. On Pro Tip: #3, Ethiopia is UNIQUE in itself, but i refute your claim that “there is nothing in the Ethiopian culture, similar to any other culture or taken from any other culture. Ethiopians have very strong social bond which cannot be disassociated from the fact that they were the only African country to successfully resist colonialism. Ethiopia is not static or in a bubble. The country has been an influencer and has been influenced by other. Glad you had a good trip

In Eritrea the con No 1 is no internet 🤣🤣 He would find it difficult And the pros is It is safety The only way they might even steal from you a phone is if you get drunk or maybe you lie drunk in park That is it
I’m pro Ethiopian who reside in the west, I agree partially all the cons about Ethiopia! Work round solutions though 1) currency you can sell your birr in Banks which are thousands of them in Addis. 2) The internet is poor but they've a dongle a portable USB but you've to be a resident I guess to get it but not sure! 3) Transportation is hard to get during peak time but you can hire a car which isn't that expensive the cons is they might held your official document when you hire a car!
Hi, I have moved from UAE to Ethiopia addis and It is really great over here. You can rent a 2 BR apartment for 70,000 bir which is 614 $. You can get a monthly unlimited wifi for 1000 bir which is like 8.7$ and the food is cheap. Weather is amazing and people are friendly and to my surprise most of the people in Addis speak english.
Man I saw you in Bole area, friendship mall area. I wanted to say hi😂 but you were recording. I have lived here for almost three months. Ethiopia is a chilled country with diverse culture and languages😊
Yes I have and I have felt very safe in Addis comparatively, not saying all African cities are dangerous but the others I have been to def were more compared to Addis. But you must be careful anywhere you go
Everything you said is true. Our government busy spending the hard earning hard currency on useles resorts , parks and, palace instead of important infrastructure like Telecom, roads, hospitals, sanitation etc..... . hope one day we will have authorities who values all those important facilities .
The government is the one that is jamming the WiFi due to the current tensions. The best transportation alternative is catching those 'Ride' vehicles..see you in your next adventure✈
