Welcome to Ethiopia. I am Ethiopian living in Maryland. The groceries at Fantu super market are expensive, even for us come back home with dollars 😅 because most items are imported and they are jntented for non-locals and tourists. My suggestion for you is to go to chain supermarkets like Queens and Shoa who are much cheaper and are catering for locals. Enjoy your stay and I am about binge watching your contents. 😊

5:23 These kind of insurances are maybe special/extraordinary for American citizens (because that's how it looks when I see you talking about it), but here in Europe these are pretty normal. They are called (directly translated into English): short-term travel insurance and continuous travel insurance. With or without "world coverage". Standard is coverage for Europe. And there are a lot of other extra options available (all the ones you mention). These insurances are being offered by all health insurance companies (your own health insurance company f.e.), but also by other insurance companies (car, life, home insurance etc).

You got the banana from the street vendor with a local price, and not with a tourist price. I get a kilo of banana for 60ETB, just above 1USD. And yes, you guys arrived in Ethiopia while food prices have just settled burning through the roof that it's wildly crazy. Despite that, I hope you're enjoying your time.

🙄I freaked out for a moment when you were describing about how the food is expensive which relatively speaking is true !but tricky situation in ETH. is that you can find exact same commodity like vegetable, fruits and cereals in good price ; So all you have to do is just look around you and do a little research it may not be a fancy place but you can find the most fresh food around the corner with a little effort ...we take this free market thing too seriously I guess 😉😀By the way around here we don't even segregate foods organic inorganic that much and for weird reasons organic ones are cheaper again relatively speaking may be because they smaller in size or I don't know the real reason ;the market is that way for now so in that way and I think we are benefited in that one at least ….. Unfortunately for those imported packed foods the reason why they are very expensive is that one - locals/We don't use them much and two came in to the country with the high foreign currency ... speaking of market I salute Chinese people who live in Addis they have these insane big market around specific place called " Bole -Ruanda "market; It almost looks like the local traditional food market that no body really pay that much attention but amazing amazing place ,they bring all the country's best commodities together that I didn't even explore yet and I don't think the price is that bad .
It should be visited and explored for those of you who are crazy about the fresh food its for you !

My trick is to cut the given price to half and then go from there. That's when they realize that you mean business as much as the locals and fess up on the real selling price.
Another tactic is to attempt to make them settle for your offer price by walking away. If they don't call you back, then the stated selling price before you walk away is the lowest they're willing to go.
And if they call you back, they're capable of selling lower than their initial price to you. However, in order to get their lowest willing to sell price, you must cut their initial cost price to at least, half before walking away.
And even when you come back right away because they didn't call you back, you may raise your offer by say 20% higher. You're using this as a leverage to make him believe that you really want to buy and he may meet in the middle.
Welcome to to the international community of buying and selling outside of the United States 😂
