I was in grade school and I thought, what in the world is that, and I walked into the den where the tv was and my Dad was watching this movie and was laughing his head off. I asked him what he was watching, and he said some crazy movie, so we all sat down and watched it. Never saw it again for decades. I always remembered that part of the "feed me" screaming demands, and then, I happened to see it one time on tv in the late 90's. And then, of course, there was the musical, which my older kids loved when they were little. So, I looked high and low for the dvd of the original "Little Shop of Horrors" and now, I watch it from time to time. Funniest movie of all times. Cult classic, I hear. I guess that makes me part of the cult, then. LOL!!
I have both versions on DVD, I love it. My MIL loved it and she was a theater kid in college, she met her husband when they worked on the production together. I miss her.
With this version it makes more sense that Seymour would think that he can keep feeding it with drops at a time: in the 80s versions, the plant is clearly too big to keep suckling from capillaries.
The writer used his own voice and it was meant to be dubbed in later by another actor, but Roger Corman found the voice he used to be funny and was too cheap to hire another actor; so he left it as it was.
A Japanese Gardener found the seeds and a plantation next to a cranberry farm the cranberries had been tainted with the herbicide aminotriazole (which is a heterocyclic meaninga compound who's molecule contain rings of at least two elements, mostly Carbon) as a result cranberrie sales plummeted.
Seymour seems like too much like an idiot weakling, and audrey 2 seems not at all intimidating. But this sprouted into an inspiration for a broadway musical so i dont hate it entirely.
Yes. I jus thought of that watching it again. But i thought maybe in that time period. Clumsy= idiot and jus it being a weird thing makes it scary when its not. But i appreciate the film for that. Its a dumb horror movie to us but wonder what was horror in the 60s.
Why does everyone hate Rick Moranis? He was exactly how I imagined Seymour to be. Sweet, a bit clumsy and depressed and lost, desperate...this guy looks a bit too happy to me. Why isn't he freaked out that his plant has started talking?
