Great video, thanks for making it! Is there any way you would would change your target points distributions between your unit role categories for 1k point lists?
Sisters are tough! Definitely need some big bugs to crack tanks and always measure out where their meltas can go in order to keep your gun line safe. Move block the transports, pop the rhinos, and charge the inside. Honestly Hormagaunts are probably pretty good into them. Wound sisters on threes and are great for move blocking as well. Hard to say though. I think they’re a strong army. Their downside right now is they are probably a little too elite for them to make mistakes. Swarm the board and give them a hard time with target priority and you should be good! Thanks for watching, and happy gaming!
Nice Vid. One question though: I'm fairly new to Tyranids and I don't understand what you mean with "Dakkafexes"? What ranged weapon do you give them? The devourers?
Excuse me if this has already been done, but I have a video suggestion/request: It seems like most of our units in Leviathan are off-meta. How can you make good use of the Leviathan units in the awkward transition phase of acquiring the stuff in the list you're working towards? Something like "You have 20 Termagants with Fleshborers. It would be a good idea to play [this detachment] or [this unit] to get okay value from them" I think I've seen content on which units are critical to buy early, and of course there's a lot on list building; but I've seen little on making the most out of the more niche Leviathan units.
Hey! Great idea. I’m actually releasing a video on Friday on how to build up to 2k points after buying leviathan. The end 2k list is actually pretty strong and uses most of the leviathan models. It should be a good video!
@@WednesdayNightWarhammer Huh! What were the odds for that? I guess it makes sense: The idea came to me during the intro of this video, so I suppose the same neurons could have fired for you while working on it ;)
Hey, nice video. About the swarm invasion list, wouldn't a combination of tervigon, psychophage (maybe) and venomthropes be really supportive to the 40 Termagants?
Hey! Only problem is with the endless swarm strat and hive tyrant providing lethals it kind of makes the tervigon obsolete:/. With the tervigon so expensive and the hive tyrant providing everything that the tervigon can do I’ve been leaving it out of swarm lists. Psychophage could be cool for extra durability! Thanks for watching!
@WednesdayNightWarhammer Thanks for the immediate response! I still don't understand a thing tho: the aura effect for lethals of the hyve tyrant is only 6 inches around it, so where would you put him? In the center, having 20 gants in each side? About that, where would you place the neurotyrant leading the 6 zoan?
Very nice video Though, question of mine, why the swap to a single maleceptor and double tfex, and why the OOE bomb over genestealers? Do you just find the swapped units more consistent?
The singular malaceptor swap happened a while back for me. I just felt like one served its purpose enough as a mid table bully and I haven’t felt the need for two since then. The OOE switch was honestly because I just wanted to try the unit again. It’s a lot more points than the stealers but they’ve been doing well in my games. I think either option is really strong though! Thanks for watching!
Starting my first 1k points of nids. I currently have a biovore, lictor, tyranofex, venomthropes and a box of termagaunts. I'm looking at getting a swarmlord more lictors and a genestealer squad with broodlord. Adding either hormagaunts or more termagants. I'm looking at invasion fleet or vanguard onslaught. Any advice on this or things i should avoid ? I want a semi competitive army but honestly I'm back in the hobby after 15 years and i want a list that is fun to paint and play (so rule of cool also)
IMO (and btw, this is me mostly thinking about 2k armies): * mostly avoid buying a harpy / hive crone or a sporocyst / tyrannocyte, unless you're okay having great models that you don't use on the table. those have been rubbish the whole edition, and GW seems to really hate fliers and fortifications. * make sure that's a 10-strong genestealer unit :) * if you like them, get more genestalers and broodlords, two or three of them does great in both invasion and vanguard onslaught * exocrines are amazing, most strong 2k nid lists run two or three of them * getting one more tyrannofex will be great if you expand to a 2k list * i'd suggest hormagaunts over more termagants. if you eventually get 2-3 units of both hormagaunts and gargoyles, you'll have good options. speed is great. * join some Discord 40k servers if you haven't already, cos chatting to people and getting many different viewpoints is great!
A swarmlord seems quite pricy for only 1000 list but why not, it is very good too (build it as a hive tyrant if you play invasion) . Another option would be a neurotyrant/3 zoanthropes can do the job and in Invasion you will need synapse. About your termagants if you already have 20 (Leviathan box ?) it can hold an objective for more than 1 round (especially in Invasion) for only 120 points, it is cheap. Venomthropes is a luxury that you can use IF you have a BIG amount of infantry. For 1000 points it represents 7 percent of your army .... just for a bit of support :( Genesteler squad and brood lord is great choice and new models ... it is still 28 percent of your army cost but they are durable in Invasion fleet. If you calculate and follow the video's logic and the unit you already have home : BASE 1 tyranofex and 20 termagants to take objectives. 190+120 = 310. COUNTER PUNCH and dmg, your gen-brod pack : 230. SCORING you have a biovore + 1 lictor + 1 gargoyle (outstanding) 50 + 60+ 85 : 195. SUPORT one neurotyrant/Zoanthropes. 205. Total 940, you have 60 left for whatever you want. If you take the hive tyrant + FNP (260) instead of neurotyran/Zohan total 995.
@@Tostaky777 I really like the Venomthropes models but you might correct. (nahhh just the one box of gaunts) i think i prefer the look of the hormagaunts. If i build the zoanthropes instead i probably should run a neurotyrant but the model doesn't excite me as much as others (hive tyrant, deathleaper). Like the warriors to but incredibly pricey and i would rather run another unit of genestealers.
@@wuffell912 Yeah i plan to get more fire power but i was looking at building the first 1k as the bulk of my army. I really like the venomthrope models but it looks like zoanthropes are way better. Was looking at a chaff core then a bunch of lictors and genestealers then a monster gun line. (i also really like the hormgaunt new sculpts but i didnt realise at the time i got some termagaunts.
@@chronicallyvexed5273 LOL sure just build the zoanthropes, if you did not build the box yet :) .... Neurotyrant or not, build the zoanthropes hahaha. I don't think I mentioned warrior but you are right : with their leader prime tyrant, there are just very specific to vangard detachment. Genesteler are much easier to use. As Wuffel said, exocrine is a great choice but the model is old.
I almost always run one with sword and venom cannon. However, that’s a lot due to my playstyle with keeping my tyrant safe for a majority of the game. I only really peek him out to give safe chip shots. If you’re being more aggressive with him or running him in assimilation swarm with a brick of tyrant guard, I think full melee is good as well.
Very informative!!! I got some more question tho. Are maleceptors something you could run on the flanks, or should I get a haruspex? Because I thought letting a maleceptor go in first may let the rest of my army advance. Also, should I send hormagaunts or termagaunts to points first? Hormies can get there faster, but ive had a few games where all my termagaunts do is just sit in the home objective, and I really want to use their guns
Depends what you want to die first honestly haha I would commit what you see as least valuable to a point first and then follow it up with more valuable units. I think Malaceptors are good for running up flanks for sure! I left them out of this video a bit because I know they’re almost impossible to find. Thanks again for the support!
@WednesdayNightWarhammer thank you for the reply! I think I may send termagaunts out first cuz they can shoot things coming at them, and I'll try and be more agressive with my maleceptor! Ive had a couple games where I just didn't do much of anything with it, and it only had like 2 wounds taken.
my 2c: i personally really like a maleceptor and a haruspex to roam together and take a point. both are tough, both benefit from the +1S in synapse, and they're pretty scary. in terms of which units go first towards objectives ... that really depends on your army. if you have a nidzilla list with nothing on a base smaller than 50mm, you'll probably want haruspexes leading the charge, with malececeptors close behind, or keeping pace. unfortunately, they're both fairly slow. most nid armies have some infiltrators or scouts ahead to distract the enemy and buy you some time to get your real threats up to the mid objectives before the enemy. that way, maybe mal/haru being fairly slow won't be tooo bad. if you can get genestealers up to the objective and behind solid cover, the enemy will have to work hard to take that objective. but even lictors being in the middle will be dangerous for the enemy, ditto VRLs. hormies can also rush ahead and try to claim objectives, or just contest and pressure the enemy. that gives you time to move a big tanky bug up to support. gaunt-related: units of 20 hormies aren't that common, cos most of the time, 10 hormies will do almost as well. it's incredibly rare for me to want one unit of 20, instead of two units of 10. termagants ... honestly, i'd not use them currently. they're slow and they do basically no damage, unless there's a tervigon with them (and then i'd only use them if i was taking 50-60 termagants with spinefists. even then, i dislike moving that many models ...) hormies/gargoyles are great at quickly grabbing the objectives until your real army gets there. one unit of gargoyles being in reserves can sneakily grab an objective late game. termies .... well, there's a reason why you don't see them in every tourney-winning nid list. hormagants being faster and only five points more expensive makes them much better. termies sitting on objectives and shooting something will rarely do much.
Are screamer killers good now, like actually playable? Im asking because, I see them pop up here and there in this eddition and than disapear for months again from the game. Also personally i could never make em work. Any tips?
Hey! Sorry, I should have been specific. I’m referring to carnifexes kitted out with 4 deathspitters each. It’s a whole lot of dice and is actually really strong.
Thanks Jorden for all the tips. Can really put them to use in december when i play my first non serious tournament in my local club. Hopefully my list is doing ok. Question about the Carnifex, do you only get acsess to teeth and claws if you run 2 shooting weapons? Or would my Carnifex get them on top of his main sything talons and extra attacks like i love to run them right now.
@@WednesdayNightWarhammer I Wouldn´t be able to punsh with all 3 melee profils right? The Carnifex datasheet is just pretty confusing because it lists all 3 melee weapons as "Standard" on the side.
@@Dewoy1 when they attack, you choose one melee profile to attack with, plus all the weapons with extra attacks. a default carnifex has the scything claws, extra scything claws, and xenos claws and teeth. the extra scything claws say extra attacks, so you can always use those, plus then you choose one of the scything claws and xenos claws and teeth. for rules references, and to compare ranged and melee attacks: for ranged attacks, the main rules P19 mentions that you can shoot all weapons. for melee attacks, main rules P33 mentions that you can only use one weapon (P28 talks about weapons with extra attacks)
@@wuffell912 Not sure if that really helped me clarify. Do i, or do i not get to swing with the teeth and claws as well IF, i equip my Carnifex with both type of Scything talons, in the 2 slots that he has?
@@Dewoy1 you don't. you can attack with ONE melee weapon, plus all the weapons that say extra attacks. so you choose either the carnifex scything talons, or the xeno claws and teeth - you choose the carnifex scything talons, cos they're better. and you can also attack with the carnifex extra scything talons, because they say extra attacks. read the rules pages i mentioned to help clarify if needed :)
How many Termagants is too many? 120? I find my Tervigon works extremely well at slowing and taking down big threats. Opponents are terrified that if they don’t deal with it they can’t deal with my Termagant hordes. But with Adaptive Biology and Death Frenzy, even Angron can’t resist my Tervamommy.
Excellent video. I recently started playing Warhammer with some friends and I went for the Tyranids. Hey! Thank you so much for watching! If you haven’t already I would watch the top 5 units to buy video I did a while back. It has some good info on what units are good buys and staples for the army. I would start there, and then try to find a core group of units that functions together well and build from there!
Just starting out but gone off other peoples advice on youtube for research. So deathleaper paired with 2x lictors, 2x gorgoyles, biovore for scoring Just got the carnifex, old one eye for the coutner punch, 2 tyranofex, neurotyrant, 1x each norm, which leaves 185 points left. 2 norm ems means 200 points spare. get rid of a norm 400 plus. Just trying to figure out the final bits, and detachment. warriors looks fun but have none, so probaly invasion

Hey!
@WednesdayNightWarhammer
Thanks for the immediate response! I still don't understand a thing tho: the aura effect for lethals of the hyve tyrant is only 6 inches around it, so where would you put him? In the center, having 20 gants in each side?
About that, where would you place the neurotyrant leading the 6 zoan?
Okay three screamer killers, got it
A man of culture I see.
Very nice video
Though, question of mine, why the swap to a single maleceptor and double tfex, and why the OOE bomb over genestealers?
I want a semi competitive army but honestly I'm back in the hobby after 15 years and i want a list that is fun to paint and play (so rule of cool also)
IMO (and btw, this is me mostly thinking about 2k armies):
* mostly avoid buying a harpy / hive crone or a sporocyst / tyrannocyte, unless you're okay having great models that you don't use on the table. those have been rubbish the whole edition, and GW seems to really hate fliers and fortifications.
* make sure that's a 10-strong genestealer unit :)
* if you like them, get more genestalers and broodlords, two or three of them does great in both invasion and vanguard onslaught
* exocrines are amazing, most strong 2k nid lists run two or three of them
* getting one more tyrannofex will be great if you expand to a 2k list
* i'd suggest hormagaunts over more termagants. if you eventually get 2-3 units of both hormagaunts and gargoyles, you'll have good options. speed is great.
For 1000 points it represents 7 percent of your army .... just for a bit of support :(
Genesteler squad and brood lord is great choice and new models ... it is still 28 percent of your army cost but they are durable in Invasion fleet.
Thank you

Thanks for watching!
When you are running your Tyrant on foot, are you pure melee? Where do you make the choice between the ranged options if you don't?
Ive had a couple games where I just didn't do much of anything with it, and it only had like 2 wounds taken.
my 2c:
i personally really like a maleceptor and a haruspex to roam together and take a point. both are tough, both benefit from the +1S in synapse, and they're pretty scary.
in terms of which units go first towards objectives ... that really depends on your army. if you have a nidzilla list with nothing on a base smaller than 50mm, you'll probably want haruspexes leading the charge, with malececeptors close behind, or keeping pace. unfortunately, they're both fairly slow.
most nid armies have some infiltrators or scouts ahead to distract the enemy and buy you some time to get your real threats up to the mid objectives before the enemy. that way, maybe mal/haru being fairly slow won't be tooo bad. if you can get genestealers up to the objective and behind solid cover, the enemy will have to work hard to take that objective. but even lictors being in the middle will be dangerous for the enemy, ditto VRLs. hormies can also rush ahead and try to claim objectives, or just contest and pressure the enemy. that gives you time to move a big tanky bug up to support.
gaunt-related:
units of 20 hormies aren't that common, cos most of the time, 10 hormies will do almost as well. it's incredibly rare for me to want one unit of 20, instead of two units of 10.
termagants ... honestly, i'd not use them currently. they're slow and they do basically no damage, unless there's a tervigon with them (and then i'd only use them if i was taking 50-60 termagants with spinefists. even then, i dislike moving that many models ...)
hormies/gargoyles are great at quickly grabbing the objectives until your real army gets there. one unit of gargoyles being in reserves can sneakily grab an objective late game. termies .... well, there's a reason why you don't see them in every tourney-winning nid list. hormagants being faster and only five points more expensive makes them much better. termies sitting on objectives and shooting something will rarely do much.
Just found channel and catching up, so i assume ravengers go into the scoring category
Nm explained in 3rd list lol
Are screamer killers good now, like actually playable?
Im asking because, I see them pop up here and there in this eddition and than disapear for months again from the game.
Also personally i could never make em work.
Any tips?
Tbh they’re ok. I included them in the video to highlight you can make lists without just jamming all of the meta picks in all the time.
Question as a newbie to 40k and tyranids, what's a Dakkafex? 😅 Guessing he means a gun welding carnifex?
Hey! I think you can take them no matter what, however I would take the and use the regular talons over the extras and teeth.
Thanks for watching!
Incredible! I actually haven’t ran a Tervigon this edition. Glad to hear it puts in work!
nice vid!
Thank you, nice comment!
Great video!Thank you so much!Could you give us some suggestion on how to beat Dark Angel. I feel it impossible to win dark angel😢
Excellent video. I recently started playing Warhammer with some friends and I went for the Tyranids. However I’m struggling with my list, we don’t play competitive but losing four times in a row is kinda depressing. Therefore I wanted to ask for advices for what I should buy next. I love every Tyranid unit and I can’t choose what unit I should get (My objective is to someday have every unit once) My current list consists of
1 Winged Tyranid Prime
1 Psychophage
1 Deathleaper
1 Norn Emissary
1 Tyrannofex
1 Biovore
1 Lictor
2x2 Ripper Swarms
1x3 Van Ryan’s Leapers
1x5 Barbgaunts
1x10 Hormagaunts
3x10 Termagants
1x11 Neurogaunts
I also have a (Winged) Hive Tyrant/Swarmlord that I will magnetize
Hey! Thank you so much for watching!
If you haven’t already I would watch the top 5 units to buy video I did a while back. It has some good info on what units are good buys and staples for the army.
I would start there, and then try to find a core group of units that functions together well and build from there!
@ Oh I see, thank you. I’m going to watch it right now
Just starting out but gone off other peoples advice on youtube for research. Just trying to figure out the final bits, and detachment. warriors looks fun but have none, so probaly invasion
great advice beautiful beard
