  • This is a 2002 international 4300 that has been neglected it whole life. Check out the frame sections that fall off with little effort. I bought this truck as parts for another project I have coming up. I will be using the dt466 engine, 6 speed manual transmission and the rear differential....the frame will become yard art at the scrap yard.

    Thank you Govt and DOT for the millions of tons of salt they feel the need to spread on our roads.
    Does anyone remember the days when we actually had enough common sense to slow down in winter driving conditions?
    Seems to me there was a Lot less salt used years ago.
    Now, we all feel the need to drive like maniacs and are too busy on our phones to pay attention to the road conditions. JMHO.

      AGREED! slower speeds in the winter would save loads of troubles but americans are always late, in a hurry or not paying attention. sad.

      Slower speed doesn't exactly give you traction, it just makes you get stuck.. coat your vehicles and you wont have as much rust

    I owned a international bucket truck that had rust like that, really great running truck ran it for years, but the boom was flat worn out, like your videos

      Gary justliving thanks for watching! I have had alot of international trucks over the years. this truck was one of the few that I have seen. it is a shame. the truck runs and drives perfect!

      I know what you mean, the truck I'm running now has t444e (7.3) it's not the motor I had in old rusty (408) but it was a safety thing, the t444e seems low power and smokes like it has injectors going bad, also has some kind of sensor bad cause the service light come on if cold not been plug up when it lest bit cold, out all the trucks we have ran over the years I really like the dt466 the best. keep up the great builds

    • @j.c.smithprojects
      @j.c.smithprojects  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      the t444e as you know was built by ih. it was programmed with more power for the ford f and e series truck than it did in the ih trucks. it was due to load duty cycle. plainly put, the ford version was rated at a 50% load duty cycle as they were under a heavy load at about 50% or less of the life of the engine. the ih trucks were rated at 100% load duty cycle as they were built specifically to haul a load all the time. so the hp rating was lower in the ih trucks for longevity of the engine. still a good engine. it just doesnt have the long stoke of the dt360, dt408 , dt466, or the hard to find dt530.

      @garyjustliving3963 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      never ran a dt530 but I had a 94-96 ford once I think it had a 8.3 with the 7 speed , it had the power and speed but was also harder on fuel lol

    Those just look like layers of coating that have separated off?

    That’s Rust Slag your pulling off ...it swells up ...not the thickness of the frame ! I got the same problem with a great running 5 ton I’m replacing the frame .

    My 04 f150 is in the same shape, just had a spot welded on it, only 82000 mi. Runs good, like the truck lot, but don't know how many more winter's it will take, don't know if it's even safe to raise up with a lift anymore, arms may poke a hole in the frame.

      It is boxed frame. I have F250 99. with C frame and frame is still standing. You should spray some Lanolin or Cosmoline into frame.

      Ya I'm excited I had to sell my 01 f250 with the 7.3 and six speed as well . It was a regular cab we had a baby on the way It had 275k with no issues. Ya around here it's whiskey dents or hail dents lol. Luckily this in incredible shape. Wish I had a way to post a pick.

      put it in signature..or make a video of it. i am always interested in checking out a truck. mine is my c4500. most of the trucks i buy are coming off a ranch or oil field.

      @Rich-he9if 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thats what I said he was banging with the hammer after he peeled it off and it sounded solid he and it jus the under coating over the years soaked up moisture its really not bad

      I did it was a guy trying to get a vin trace on his frame but the vin number rusted out I told him he put 8000.00 on this tractor she going to fall apart and the frame is bent from it rolling over he still trying to put truck on road rusted

  • @jakepennyii2814
    @jakepennyii2814 6 ปีที่แล้ว +5

    Thats not bad at all most of that is just the original undercoating that has expanded from moisture and peeled away. Remove that and it should be still solid.

    • @j.c.smithprojects
      @j.c.smithprojects  6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      i cleaned it all up and did a video series of shortening the frame and putting a dump bed on it.

  • @edcorbette4284
    @edcorbette4284 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    A lot of that ain't all frame it's moisture that has soaked into the top layer and has actually expanded the rust to look worse than really is this ain't nothing.
