Hey Timbo, thanks for watching! To separate the shapes, you can select the entire thing and go to Object>expand. You might need to also ungroup them after expanding it. Hope this helps.

This is still my favorite video.
I'm using this style a lot. Just started having an issue; when I use the pencil tool to draw lines, a part of the shape I'm drawing in disappears. I don't remember changing any settings but I must have clicked on something and "undo" didn't fix the problem. Do you have any suggestions?

Thank you Tim! I'm not quite sure what the issue would be, because Illustrator has updated the Pencil Options in updates since I've made this video. You may have a combination of 'Keep Selected' & 'Edit Selected Paths' checked off. Try unchecking those in your pencil settings. If that doesn't work, you can always use the selection tool to deselect a path and then use the pencil tool again to draw over it. Hope this helps!

You probably only have one shape selected before selecting the Shape Builder Tool. Highlight all of your shapes with the Selection tool, and while they are still selected, switch to the Shape Builder Tool. Hope this helps.
