Pro Tip: In Photoshop, convert your image layer to a Smart Object first, then apply the Camera Raw filter. This way you can go back and make adjustments to the image if the Stamp filter doesn't give you the desired results.
My comment is about the speed of this tutorial. Excellent. You don't waffle on. You say only what needs to be said. Some other tutes of this complexity can be 20m long. If I was following this to learn how to do this I would just pause and go back when needed so I could follow the steps. Well done.
Dude. I work in a makerspace in a public library and I have to go over this over and over every single day. Thank you for making this so straightforward but with some great pearls of practice even I could learn from.
You can adjust the speed of videos. Just go to the gear shape on the bottom right of the video (looks like a flower to me, lol) and click to see "Playback speed". You can increase or decrease speed there. When I watch tutorials I like to slow it down so I can absorb what's being said.
Even though I have been using Photoshop for years, Illustrator is new to me and I had to get it to make vector images for my laser cutter. This video is exactly what I needed. Thanks and respect
Charley - Thanks for sharing...this a fantastic breakdown. Quick question: would you modify your approach, in any way, if you were prepping an image that will be used for a Silk Screen? Or would a Silk Screen approach be the exact same method as listed above in the video? Thank you!
bro I've learned more from you in such a short time than I have taking weeks of slow learning PS classes in college 😂 plus if I forget I can always come back and watch it. Thanks for all the gems 🙏
Thank you Charlie! PS: In my PC version of Illustrator, that handy menu bar with the "image trace" button isn't visible. Any clues on how to make that bar visible?
That was way too cool. Thanks always wanted a clear instruction on editing color images in PS to be vectorized in Illustrator. I'm a sign designer and my work usually are large scale between 5ft to 40ft panels. These are signs and large graphics. Very helpful video Thank you!!
May I ask how you learned to use photoshop and illustrator im self teaching my self watching you tube videos in between work and life I been learning I can say it's a bit challenging and complex but it keeps the brain working is their any tips you recommend? I liked your video I guess since I'm a newbie it's a bit to fast lol but it's great information!!!! Thanks for sharing
This was more helpful than you could imagine. Every time I make a design I run into a problem. I cannot delete the white back ground to create a png. I’ve always vectorized the image then went into photo shop and deleted all of the white manually with the magic wand tool. Such a long process that I’ve had to go through several times. Now that I know this information, it will save me so much time. Very helpful video thank you, I get the same vibes here as I did in photo shop class
Thanks very much! This is just perfect. As an extra tip to the followers, record the actions in Photoshop, so you don’t have to do it all over again, every time. 🙂
Very clear and concise. Maybe in future tutorials for those trying to learn how to do this could you slow down just a bit as I had to rewind loads of times to get all that you were saying, because not all of us are young and get things really quickly.
Thank you so much I had spent all day trying to do what you did in a few minutes. I am going to follow your instructions and get this A in class. And yes I did subscribe I don't want to miss anything. Thank you again!!!
Photoshop isn’t a vector program but you could always throw the actual wolf photo into illustrator without using photoshop to process it.. results will be different though.
Thank you for taking the time to make this video. I followed as best I could and I believe I have been able to create something that a sign company can use to scale up. You do move very fast so I had to slow down the speed of the video or else get left in the dust.
interesting, been using gimp for years via add-alpa-channel+fuzzy select by color and delete; might have to re-try photoshop to see if its easier/quicker in workflow. Largest issue is the lack of centerline tracing; but for most part I use lightburn trace function.
Thanks! Exactly what I was looking for. Bet you get lots of great subs with this one. It's concise, interesting and useful overview. I hope to get more pro tips, though, when I come back. I would love a set of deeper videos, too. I can get the nitty gritty, but then, when I am practicing, I would like to know what can make my game next-level awesome. That might not be the kind of channel you want this to be. That's cool. I'm just throwing out what I want in case that suggestion takes you to the next step.
hi! great work , ineed help because i should to vectorize a tram picture , and all my results are not good because the tram is small do you have a technic for more detail ?
I guess I'm old school. My method is desaturate, adjust contrast, threshold, select black, create work path. then export paths to Illustrator. It takes some time but once in AI you gotta figure out what paths are what and what to remove. I'll try this way, thanks!
Thanks for all the support on this video! Really love all of you. Hope you stick around and watch my other videos 😊
thankyou man that was really helpful, perfect speed your time is greatly appreciated

Wow. I've seen a lot of tutorials and this was REALLY clearly done and fast af with zero fluff. No notes. Perfection.
This tutorial killed it, exemplary use of a multitude of tools, without making it a 45 min video, bravo!
Thank you! I really appreciate the kind words.

Photoshop isn’t a vector program but you could always throw the actual wolf photo into illustrator without using photoshop to process it.. results will be different though.
