    Awesome tutorial! Thank you so much for an easy follow along process. I found the ocean ripple isn't working in the same way for me for whatever reason, but the 'Palette Knife' under the artistic dropdown options within the Photoshop effects also can add a cool tie dye look. Thank you again :)

      That's cool you found another way to do it! Yeah I think there are all types of cool effects you can make if you experiment a bit. Thanks for watching.

    I tried to follow step by step but when I get to the part where you will free transform. I input copy of 50 and nothing is happening on this part. Please help. Thank you

      Make sure that your preview is turned on. Also, you must change the horizontal and vertical scales before those changes will show up. Copy the dialog box on 2:06 exactly. Let me know if you're still having issues after this.

    Thank you for this great tutorial! When I get to the Distort & Transform/Roughen. I don't get the jagged edges that you get. Mine are round and puffy. Not sure what I'm going wrong.

      When you're in the Roughen panel, make sure the Points section is set to CORNER and not SMOOTH. Let me know if this helps.

    One, this design is awesome and I look forward to hopefully being able to do it. When I get to the end (adding the feathered white stars) the program begins to lag and then says that there is not enough memory, or just goes into "Not Responding" mode. This results in having to force quit and restart the process all over again. Any ideas why this is happening? We have Illustrator 2021

    • @CoolGuyDesigns
      @CoolGuyDesigns  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      This sounds more like a hardware issue than a software or user issue. Illustrator and other design programs require a lot of memory to complete tasks. This is especially true for this tutorial, where we combine many effects and colors. Your computer simply may not have enough memory to complete the function at this point. The computer I'm using has 16GB memory, so maybe compare that with your machine. Hope this helps.

    Weird, when I wanna make that star, I can't choose the second radius at 0, it makes a windows sound when I choose zero, and it changes it to 0.0001px and when I press ok, I get a star like yours, but super thin lines that I can't make thicker.... ?

    • @FerDutchman
      @FerDutchman 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      never mind, I saw the uniform line, and changed it to 3 pt round, now it's like yours in this tutorial!

    • @CoolGuyDesigns
      @CoolGuyDesigns  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hmm that is a strange problem. I'm assuming that you're using windows and there is a slight difference there? I'm not exactly sure. And also strange that you can't adjust the weight of the stroke. I guess make sure that you do have a white stroke selected when making the star. Another workaround is you can just draw my star shape manually. Draw one line. Copy 5 times. Rotate each 72°. And then place them all around a center point. Not the most direct answer, but I hope this helps.

    Awesome tutorial. When I created a similar design I found I was unable to export to PDF with out the colors changing on me. Have you seen this issue before?

    • @CoolGuyDesigns
      @CoolGuyDesigns  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks, Daniel! Colors changing could be an issue if you're going from RGB color mode to a CMYK color mode. RGB is meant for screens, while CMYK is meant for printing. So if you print something that is an RGB file, the colors will change when printed. Maybe that is what's happening, but let me know if you still have issues.

    Quick Question...I have tried EVERYTHING, but my illustrator WILL NOT allow me to put the gradient spectrum color into my stroke. It always defaults to my fill color, leaving the stroke black. Any suggestions I should search for to change my settings? Thank You

    • @CoolGuyDesigns
      @CoolGuyDesigns  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hmm. I'm not exactly sure what's going on. But I'll try to troubleshoot a bit with you. I hate to start this simple, but I have to - Are you choosing stroke in your left panel? First draw a circle. Then, click on the black stroke in your left panel. From here, you can choose the spectrum swatch or literally drag the spectrum swatch into the circle on your artboard, and it SHOULD apply the gradient to the stroke. Tell me what happens when you do that and if it still doesn't work, we can play with settings and see what's going on.

      I think I figured it out. I have CS 5..... I believe that option was added with CS6. Going to see if I can buy a new copy soon. Thank you so much for your help and reply! Great video tutorial

    • @CoolGuyDesigns

      Yes, I think this technique would work with a variety of shapes. A heart would be really cool! I'd love to see it.

    • @CoolGuyDesigns
      @CoolGuyDesigns  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@FalVael124 You may have to mess with the settings or alter the technique a bit for it to work. I might try this later and make a part 2 to this video.
