    Also the Expand function is disabled in my Illustrator. Any idea why?

    • @DiaGraphics

      @@DiaGraphics I managed to create a swatch without outer line. Not sure what I did 🤣. And the expand is now showing. I'm guessing something to do with one of the images. At one point, I clicked on the 'expand appearance' and that activated the 'expand'.

    • @DiaGraphics
      @DiaGraphics  ปีที่แล้ว +1

  • @asnomads
    @asnomads 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

    Hi, great video. I am able to follow you with normal patterns that include shapes created in illustrator. However when I try to do this with imported PNG from files I have created in illustrator, for some reason the pathfinder-crop tool will not work.
    I am not sure where it stuck, perhaps I have missed a step. I don't know. I tried the clipping mask way to cut out the pattern - but then I am not able to use it properly as a swatch.
    Would it be the PNG cannot be used to fill repeating pattern? Or what else could be the issue? I am using Illustrator 2024. Thank you.

    • @DiaGraphics
      @DiaGraphics  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      You can't use png or any pixelbased graphics to create patterns in illustrator as illustrator is vector graphics. I think you need to do it in photoshop instead. There are tutorials for that on TH-cam as well ☺️

    • @asnomads
      @asnomads 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@DiaGraphics Thank you for replying to quickly. Much appreciated. I had the guess it is the png files. I have some other graphic software I am able to create endless pattern with.
      I'll try to do the process with the original files in Illustrator first, I am just concerned the cropping will change the look of the 3d inflated objects I have included on the edges. I'll give it a go. Thank you ♥

    • @sodoffbaldrick
      @sodoffbaldrick 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@asnomads you actually can use images inside pattern, you just can't crop them. I used expanded 3D as a centerpiece of pattern, worked for me

  • @user-rb9tg6pn9g
    @user-rb9tg6pn9g 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

    I have a doubt. Even after the pattern is made when you fill it in the big box that you created afterward the sides of the pattern do not match with the opposite side. One side is still not covering the remaining of the opposite side. When I created the pattern I got the same problem. Will the design be still accepted?

    • @DiaGraphics
      @DiaGraphics  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I not sure what you mean. It's works fine when I do it, I even made the thumbnail with the pattern 😊

  • @analisehannah4568
    @analisehannah4568 ปีที่แล้ว

    Great tutorial. I do have one question though: my pattern pieces are exactly aligned when in the 500x500 box yet when I fill a different sized box, the corners that should overlap seamlessly are not aligned properly. Only the corner pieces do this..the top and bottom edge pieces are perfectly aligned.

    • @DiaGraphics
      @DiaGraphics  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      What do You Mean by aligned? Is it because You get som white lines between the tiles? ☺️

    • @analisehannah4568
      @analisehannah4568 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@DiaGraphics Thanks for the reply! No white lines, no. What I mean is there are parts of the pattern that are supposed to match up perfectly but they don't. Part of the pattern is off-set. I guess it's a bit difficult to describe with words. Basically, on the top and bottom, left and right sides (of the bounding box), the pattern lines up perfectly. However, on the corner pieces, the top and bottom of the icon does not match up. This only happens when I fill a non-square rectangle with the pattern.

    • @DiaGraphics
      @DiaGraphics  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I think this might be the reason. If something goes in the corner and it spills out of for instance the upper part of the square as well as the right side, You have to dublicate the pattern object to both the lower part of the square as well as the left side. I think You might have missed that one of Your objects in the corner isnt dublicated correctly. Thats My best guess ☺️

    • @DiaGraphics
