Hi Matt All good projects. I am planning an intermodal operation on my layout. I started planning a container ship and found that even a relatively small ship would be around 5 feet long. I went with the idea of container barges instead. They are around 3 feet long. I'd love to see your thought process on building a ship segment. Finding used containers for short money is a challenge. I thought of making a stack fasad from styrene or cardboard stand ins.
Hey Paul. I'll need a lot of containers so I was thinking of cutting some in half (the interior and back ones) or maybe using blocks of wood with the ends covered in printouts. This ship is quite limiting as far as placement goes. Must be located on the end of a section of layout on the lefthand side. Only place it makes sense
I bought a DC G E EMD ATHEARNS D C WANT TO CONVERT INTO DCC AND AS YOU SPEAK ABOUT CONTAINER SHIP . I CAN'T FIND A TRAIN FERRY SO I MIGHT HAVE TO.MAKE ONE, THANKS, JOE
Looking at that first model, I think it would make a great weathered, run down service/gas station
Thanks Shawn. Might just do that if it turns out to be a better fit
Container Ship section, Matt!
That's the biggie. Vote counted!
I like all, but option 3! BNSF!!
Thanks Tas. I do like that geep! We'll see how things go
Glad to see you went for it! I hope you enjoy the audience participation as much as I do! Oh, and my vote? Definitely the ship!
Good to hear from you! You're the first for the ship. BNSF is winning so far. Yup, love the idea, thanks for sharing it!

Nice to hear you're doing conversions too. Those engines end up being my favorites. All the best with your ferry build!
COOL WHERE IN LONG ISLAND?
Friends of my wife have a place just north of Southampton on the sound side.
