We are wishing you the best with this project. I like the set up you have in there now. Great to see your son helping out. I can tell that made your heart smile. Maybe you need to look at a long term solution for the water? Given how well you have set up the greenhouse it needs to stay where it is. If you are setting up for water and power anyway and removing concrete I’d be tempted to create a swale to move the water around the greenhouse with some gravel and weeping tile. Just a thought. While I was talking to Glen about it he suggested harvesting the water before it becomes a problem for the greenhouse. Installing a big tank or a plastic lined pond. The swale could lead the water there. He is thinking there must be some way to put that water to use. Awesome stuff guys! 🌺
Thank you so much! We appreciate all the amazing suggestions! We have been thinking a lot about a water catchment system from the barn. We have some research to do. Thank you again for all the great suggestions. My son has me wrapped around his finger and he knows it❤️ tell Glen we said hello!
Wood chip provides a good host for a healthy microbiome. That’s good for the plants, regardless of the chips breaking down. I am personally opposed to using grass because it steals nutrients like nothing else! Yes it provides protection against erosion but perhaps there are better ways of slowing down the water. Coincidentally you are close to the NLAE at ISU (formerly the National Soil Tilth Lab - I worked there some 20 years ago)
Thank you for watching! I have similar concerns with the grass 😊 we are all about trying new things and learning from them! We will also be working on a rain catchment system for the barn, hoping that will help out! Very cool that you worked at ISU! Such a small world! Do you currently live in Iowa? Thanks again for watching and commenting!

Nice greenhouse 👍🏾🌱. Those micro climates are a great idea.
Hi there! Thank you! They seem to be working pretty well!
The issue is with greenhouses is that they block UV. Research that. God bless your rural adventures.
Thank you for watching! We will definitely do a little more research!
Great solution, hope it works for you guys. We added raised beds into our one greenhouse and love it
Thank you Lisa! You guys do amazing things on your homestead!
