Unless it’s something outrageous, best to just move on quietly. The world is small and you never know who talks to who in your field. Could make future work hard to find.
I'm 100% on board with this. The worst thing is getting hired by a company and seeing people quit and realizing they have a high turnover. By doing this is holding the companies responsible for their tactics.
That’s very true. A friend of mine got fired and she voice recorded the whole thing. They denied a lot of stuff, but they ended up settling out of court when she threatened to sue them.
I think recording a termination of a job is actually smart because it can be used in court later on if you were wrongfully terminated by a company employer with head problems.
They couldn’t tell her why. 20 years in HR, I’ve fired a lot of people. I can ALWAYS say why. Even the times I was a fill in, I studied the performance history. It’s unacceptable. Plus, her manager lied to her in the performance review saying she was doing great. HE needs a review.

I think its 100% okay to post a lay-off because it happens and allows employers (if you do it on linkedin) to know you are open to work and laid off and not fired. But I would never post about being fired. This is coming from someone that works in Talent Acquisitions. I think even if you are upset keep it positive and maybe wait a week before posting so that you have time to calm down.
Future employers are going to see. But future employees of your company is going to see it. The company she worked for overhired. They didnt provide her any guidance for her job. I’m actually with Alyssa on this one ppl can find you anywhere so be careful what you post but some families aren’t supportive though some ppl need social media to tell you aren’t alone.
Yes, oversharing can hurt to some extend, but it can also be a blessing as it may open up to connections and networking for potential recruiters to see you’re available. I have seen social media help those in need when they couldn’t get answers.
Your insensitive takes are often why Millennials and Gen Z can’t relate with The View. Show the actual video of the person “bragging” about getting fired. Newsflash: She didn’t brag about it.
@pycellesbeard9728 no she wasn't She was showing HR didn't even know why they were firing her and couldn't give a reason why they were not only firing her.... but countless other people.
Yes I'm with Alyssa at 2:10 " I just think my generation and Gen Z we kind of tend to overshare on social media". I'm a millennial and a Gen Z and I don't overshare on social media. 💯
A guy made a TikTok after being fired by UPS. He made TikToks while dancing in uniform and was told they were aware of them. But they didn’t say that was specifically the reason.
I don't think they actually watched the video. To me, The video was posted to call out the company because they could not provide specific reasons for her termination. She wasn't looking for sympathy by posting this. She was bringing the company's lack of cause for the termination. And how to stand up for and fight for yourself.
I understand the point that Alyssa was making and it makes sense....BUT I think the point of the posting (I think I know the particular post that sparked this topic) is to show others what was done to "document" and respond to an employer firing an employee. If the post that I'm thinking of sparked this, the young lady who was fired over Zoom was told that the company wanted "part ways" with her due to her performance. She responded by refuting that claim and pointing out that her performance was actually higher compared to her coworkers in the same position and she'd been told that she was doing great by her immediate supervisor. She had no reason to believe that she was doing poorly. I think there should be push back in situations like that, because allowing something like "poor performance" to be on the official record could jeopardize her chances of re-hire should a new job opportunity come along in the future with the same company. I know many think people shouldn't want to return to a former place of employment, but there are many reasons a person might want to or have to do so. It's definitely underhanded to label someone as a "bad worker" without cause/evidence AND not allow that person to go on record with a response to poor performance accusations. That can easily end a person's potential career (at the company...and possibly in an industry.)
The video they’re talking about no she wasn’t bragging about it but she broadcast it for the world to see so she will never get hired again. Also what bothers me about her video is her use of the word trauma. The way they spoke to her was very calmly and not berating her. Trauma is a victim of abuse or assault or witness to something terrible. You are throwing a tantrum because you lost your job. Who hasn’t lost or left a job? You pick up and move on.
I watched the video that went viral if we are thinking of the same one, it was so vague and they didnt really give her specific reasons and were a bit impersonal. I remember during the hot minute of managers saying no one wants to work, some of these businesses were recieving hundreds of resumes and applications... There should an equal amount of shame towards hiring managers seeking a submissive purple unicorn that simply doesnt exist.
There is nothing wrong with sharing your layoff experience, especially holding companies accountable for how they do the layoff. I don't feel the employee should ever be told because they posted there experience that will be held against hem. I think it should be held the corporation and a cautionary tale for those looking to work at xyz organization this is how the company treats its employees. By sharing you now have a community. It can feel very lonely and shameful.
Lol fussing about tiktok is like the grandparents back in the day complaining about dvd's were becoming popular and the grandparents feared they'd lose their vcr's
Would future employers want to hire someone who puts this kind of content out there? That's what would prevent me from posting such a thing (well, that and the fact that I'm super private and don't generally share my private biz with all and sundry), but I understand the desire to put companies on notice in terms of how they deal with their employees. Employees are so often at a disadvantage and treated unfairly.
Also I think it's just their schtick. They both are the oldest in that table so it makes sense for them to take on the "grumpy old lady" characters. It's comedy good grief
