Atlanta has a lot of great restaurants and markets. We seem to get overlooked a lot. Bufford Hwy is 8 miles of amazingly authentic international restaurants and markets. It's been like that for years and years. It's been on a lot of food travel TV episodes and even Margaret Cho did a Bizarre Foods episode about Bufford HWY... All of the ITP and OTP Metro Atlanta areas (ITP =Inside the 285 perimeter and OTP= Outside the 285 perimeter) have amazing Asian and international restaurants and markets. We're really a diverse city and very lucky! Thanks for coming to visit and we're happy you loved it!
i'm the artist that drew the cup design for Rebel Teahouse! thanks so much for appreciating the artwork. i made it with nostalgia and childhood in mind! :) - tiffany
Thank god this dude took the time to actually check out where the REAL good food is in ATL. I’ve traveled all around the country and spots like snackboxe will always live in my heart as one of my favorites. I’m so glad Mike Chen agrees!
I have lived in Atlanta for a couple of years now and it's amazing how I have been to each and every one of these restaurants. They truly deserve that recognition. Asian food in Atlanta is one of the best!
Mike! I have been watching Strictly Dumpling for years. Love your stuff! I am also the chef/partner of Fred's Meat and Bread. I have to say seeing you review one of my spots, I couldn't be happier!!! Love your content! Especially 7-11 in Japan and ramen tastings!
Love seeing Jusgo and Snackboxe Bistro get some love. The Pork Belly Laap really is the best pork belly dish I've ever had, and hands down the best meal you can buy in Atlanta.
Mike Chen really out here bringing ATL food culture into the mainstream. This is what Keith Lee should've done, ATL is more than just boujee soul food! Iykyk!
Atlanta finally getting some recognition! My bf and I have dedicated ourselves to finding the best eats here and there’s so many good choices! You’ve gotta try Ponce City Market, The Vortex, The Works, Shoya Izakaya, and the Perry Street Chophouse out here in Lawrenceville!
I'm literally eating at Xian House right now. The BiangBiang is awesome. The pork "burger" is so so porky. Definitely needs to be dipped in the vinegar and soy at the bottom of the bowl. Great recommend Mike!
Next time you’re here you MUST try Mamak for amazing Malaysian food! A Buford Highway treasure. Also Kamayan (Filipino) literally in the same shopping complex.
I’ve introduced so many people to Fred’s meat and bread. I get the same exact order that you got. Korean Philly and Garlic fries. I’ve tried their burger and it was a good burger but nothing over the top. Korean Philly is the mind blowing item
So glad you’re hitting a lot of great spots here at ATL! Love seeing this Atlanta content. LOVE that you went to Snack Box Bistro. It’s the only good Laotian place that hits home around the area. Beef jerky is my fav there
The decor inside Arepa Mia is so vibrant and appealing! Also, Mikey's culinary knowledge truly shines with noodle dishes. Just love seeing people happy and in their element 💗
I live in Avondale Estates right around the corner from Arepa Mia and still haven’t tried it yet ,definitely will try it out . I love how you highlighted the different Asian cuisines cause we have a lot and most of it is amazing !😊
The ATL area has always had good food, but has branched out so much from southern food/BBQ to a great array of Asian/Central American and more interesting combinations. Thanks for checking out our city again!
Thank you so much for exploring the excellent Asian cuisine in Atlantan first off.. Mamak is the best Malaysian spot in the city. When it comes to authentic Japanese food, you have to check out Shoya! They have amazing small plates and sushi! I am so glad you ended at Snack box! That is our favorite and #1 place to show people when they come in town.
21:15 That's one of my favourite farmer's markets in Atlanta! We have an amazing diverse food culture here and it's been really strong for decades. I live pretty much within walking distance of many eclectic amazing world and local cuisines. The art scene is cool too. I hope you had a great time here Mike and please come back soon!
Food terminal is not good. Next time try Mamak for Malaysian (although I heard they changed mgmt). Next time, hit up Kang’s Kitchen for KBBQ, Jia in Ponce City Market for Szechuan, El Tesoro for tacos, Lao Wei Dao in Jusgo Supermarket for xiao long bao... there’s actually so much so come back! 😊
Atlanta really does have a ton of different places to eat. I would frequently go eat Indian and Thai food all the time there and it was absolutely amazing.
Lived in Decatur Buckhead Norcross Duluth during 20 years I lived there early 2000s - early 2020. Asian food exploded while I was there. Korean and Chinese food as good as any place in America but rest of Asian cuisines as well Thai Vietnamese Malaysian etc.
Love Buford Highway, where a lot of the restaurants in the second half are at. I've only had hiannaese chicken from the Food Terminal and now want to try other places if FT's are considered only ok. LanZhou's never disappoints. Definitely want to try out Snackbox and that pho place. Tender tendon and tripe are my weaknesses.
We just left Atlanta Georgia 😂😂. Never been to any of these places but will try it next time when we here again. Been travel so much lately so tired of eating out I’m just craving ramen noodle soup. Don’t know how Mike does it, it is tiring to constantly travel and eating out no matter how good the food is. Last week we at Boston’s MA and stop by Nordic lobster buffet which is 1.5 hour away. I’m still have food comma today from the buffet😂
You need to try New King Wok. Way outside of Atlanta, it's in Hartwell, Ga. Folks come in from South Carolina on the daily to get a taste of something authentic. One of the owners gifted me a container of her non-cabbage kimchi. It was delicious. My favorite of theirs is the dark meat Kung Pao Chicken. But they also prepare very authentic items on demand. Great place to try in a rural area!
Glad to authentic Asian food in places instead of always 4 chicken wings and fried rice really really nice, although I love the 4 chicken wings and fried rice lol
If you find yourself in Atlanta again, there's a place a few doors down from LanZhou Ramen (towards the Little Caesars) called Dim Sum Heaven. That place has ruined me for any other dim sum I've had in town.
That pork bun looks like something I would really like, I have never had one, but I do love pork, so I am sure I would like it very much. But of course, I would want to put some BBQ sauce on it, and have it like a pulled pork sandwich. I bet it would be really good with some Sweet Baby Ray's Honey BBQ sauce on it.
Man..I moved away last year and you hit up several of my favorites!! All we have here are pizza chains and a really bad americanized Chinese place. I miss Atlanta food so much!!
Now, I don't know if you've done so or not Mikey, but I wish that you, or ANY really, of the food folks that I follow would come out to Sacramento. I have this weird memory thing, so I can't remember any of the really bangin' places out here. If I had someone's episode to go off of, I could bookmark it to later check out and have an idea what's good. But, thanks anyways for always being there for me, to get my appetite roaring! 😂
I think it started in the 80's. I remember when Buford Highway was just beginning to have international spots! 😂. I left for 25 years, came back and now it's expansive, 5 lanes and many miles!
Lanzhou with out getting the fried dumplings or the noodle dish is a sin. Its unlikely but get the number 1 noodle dish, make it spicy and the pan fried dumplings.

Duluth is good too
My guy is out here putting me on with food from my own state, I’ve been praying for times like these Mike Chen in Atlanta😭🙏
i'm the artist that drew the cup design for Rebel Teahouse! thanks so much for appreciating the artwork. i made it with nostalgia and childhood in mind! :) - tiffany

Is this supposed to be a bash on Keith?
@@goodhunter1555it should be but it’s more his audience’s fault for purposely sending him to bad restaurants
Snackboxe is sooo good. But he didn’t even order their best items: Lao sausage, papaya salad, nam Khao, no sticky riceeee???
They're all in the Michelln guide, right?
I have lived in Atlanta for a couple of years now and it's amazing how I have been to each and every one of these restaurants. They truly deserve that recognition. Asian food in Atlanta is one of the best!

I'm so glad Mike went to you guys! Definitely my 3 favorite things on your menu!
Everything there looks amazing ❤
Thank you for showing these places in Atlanta. 😊
Love seeing Jusgo and Snackboxe Bistro get some love. The Pork Belly Laap really is the best pork belly dish I've ever had, and hands down the best meal you can buy in Atlanta.
I live near ATL for nearly 3 years and I’ve never been to any of these places. Thank you for sharing the best places. I’m so excited.
Mike Chen really out here bringing ATL food culture into the mainstream. This is what Keith Lee should've done, ATL is more than just boujee soul food! Iykyk!
Really glad you said this because this is such a good rich city in every direction!!
It’s crazy because the Hispanic community is huge here but overlooked. Tons of Central American eateries, ranging from Salvadoran to Guatemalan.
I started playing the "mikey chen drinking game" where you take a drink everytime he says umami...I haven't been sober in months
😂😂😂
Yesss!!! Atlanta has so many good eats! Glad you enjoyed it all, and seriously, that pork belly laab from Snackboxe, life changing! lol
Oh cool you visited Jusgo too! You could definitely do an entire episode on the korean bbq spots all over that area. There's so many!!
Welcome to Atlanta. We have a crazy amout of worldly flavors from all over the globe.
Love the Atlanta content and finding new places to eat
Thank you for visiting us here in Atlanta! 🤗 Glad you had a good time!
Food terminal is great.... but there is a Thai spot called Tom pok in that same plaza that is incredible 22:25
Tom pok pok* its good too!
I’m super excited for the Atlanta content!!!
I'm literally eating at Xian House right now. The BiangBiang is awesome. The pork "burger" is so so porky. Definitely needs to be dipped in the vinegar and soy at the bottom of the bowl. Great recommend Mike!
Love watching your channel for years now. Welcome back to Atlanta! Looking forward to try some of these restaurants.
Buford Highway is a culinary wonderland.
Next time you’re here you MUST try Mamak for amazing Malaysian food! A Buford Highway treasure. Also Kamayan (Filipino) literally in the same shopping complex.
Preach!
Don’t forget about the best Cantonese bbq (Ming’s BBQ) also in the same complex
Also, Don’t forget to grab a banh mi from Quoc Huong, also in the same plaza. Haha 😂
No
The bbq owner always charge 10% tax.@@johnscherer5686
I’m in Atlanta!! So glad you were here :)
Next Time, please try Mamak on Buford HWY for Hainanese Chicken and Quoc Huong Sandwich Fast Food for authentic Banh Mi😊
i second this! mamak is delicious and quoc huong is the best flavor and prices
Quoc Huong would win any "worth it" competition. Huge portions for a low price.
Really glad snackboxe is getting the recognition it deserves
So glad you finally came to Atlanta!!!!
I’ve introduced so many people to Fred’s meat and bread. I get the same exact order that you got. Korean Philly and Garlic fries. I’ve tried their burger and it was a good burger but nothing over the top. Korean Philly is the mind blowing item

Mike definitely knows food and spices! I admire him for that! 🙂☺️
Snackboxe is my favorite!! Has all the food I grew up eating. I crave their beef jerky with sticky rice constantly!
Fred's has had my favorite Burger in Atlanta for a while I love that place!
Discovered Snackboxe Bistro during the COVID. Hooked immediately!! Pork Belly Laap is my fav too. Along with papaya salad. Deliciously Addictive!! 😋 ❤
Next time you gotta hit Northern China Eatery (next complex to Lanzhou) for some dumplings. They are fire.
I would eat Fred's Korean cheesesteak ribeye every Thursday for like a year in college it is the best sandwich hands down
Xian Gourmet House is amazing but it is as AUTHENTIC as it gets. Some of the dishes ill be honest werent for me but the pulled noodles were INCREDIBLE
The way you reminisce about your home town, you should go back and visit.
You hit all the places that are on our regular rotation, even before the Michelin nods. We are pretty lucky here in Atlanta.
Thank you so much for exploring the excellent Asian cuisine in Atlantan first off.. Mamak is the best Malaysian spot in the city. I liked Food Terminal, but prefer the one on the Westside. I'll try Mamak, it was on my list, thanks!
Thank you for highlighting some of the best in one of my favorite cities. :)
Atlanta really does have a ton of different places to eat. I would frequently go eat Indian and Thai food all the time there and it was absolutely amazing.
What Thai places do you like? So far I only like Tum pok pok and Talat. And I've liked Tuktuk Thai.
That Korean cheesesteak is my go-to, soooo delicious!
Hey Mike. The food along Buford to Duluth has always been insane.
Lived in Decatur Buckhead Norcross Duluth during 20 years I lived there early 2000s - early 2020. Asian food exploded while I was there. Korean and Chinese food as good as any place in America but rest of Asian cuisines as well Thai Vietnamese Malaysian etc.

That Lao food looked insane. I will definitely have to find some in my neck of the woods to see if it lives up to your review.
Lanzhou makes the noodles fresh which you can see thru the glass in back.
God that food looked good. Thank you for sharing all those delishes dishes with us!
Jusgo in atl is my GO TO and then everything else is literally around the same exact area, it's perfect
Can't wait to try some of these places especially Snackboxe.
best lao food in the area by a long shot. it tastes just like food in Laos
Oh man! Wish we could have run into you! Welcome to atlanta!
Ive been to two of the places, and are among my favorites. Xi'an Gourmet House and LanZhou Ramen
Next time go to hmart in Doraville. So many good restaurants in the plaza and inside of hmart
Thanks Mike! I’ve seen places that I did not know existed in Atlanta. I’m from Atlanta metro area.
We just left Atlanta Georgia 😂😂. Never been to any of these places but will try it next time when we here again. Been travel so much lately so tired of eating out I’m just craving ramen noodle soup. I would have Gu’s dumplings from Krog Street Martket 3 times a week sometimes. ❤ Best dumplings EVER! Before the whole dumpling craze.
Isn't there still one on BuHi as well? Just up the street from the NCG Theatre.
Glad you got to try out Lan Zhou. Love that place.
Glad you enjoyed your time in our city. You're always welcome :)
Enjoy ur self and safe travels and God bless always eating delicious food. 😋 😊😮🙏👍
Totally missed out by not checking out Heirloom market bbq!
Masterpiece on Buford Hwy is a great Szechuan place! James Beard Award nominated chef
Haha I go to that Jusgo Supermarket all the time! You're in duluth/Suwanne area!
Glad to authentic Asian food in places instead of always 4 chicken wings and fried rice really really nice, although I love the 4 chicken wings and fried rice lol
Shout out to Fred's Meat and Bread. Best burger I've ever had. And the garlic fries? forgrddaboutit.
Maharaja Lamb Burger at botiwala by chai pani is amazing!!!!
Damn bro finally came to the A. Glad you enjoyed yourself. Gotta come back too much you missed man.
Krog city market is one of my favorite places to go eat
If you find yourself in Atlanta again, there's a place a few doors down from LanZhou Ramen (towards the Little Caesars) called Dim Sum Heaven. That place has ruined me for any other dim sum I've had in town.
I LOVE that place!! Really some of the best dim sum around
Dang bro! Fred’s is atlantas best kept secret and now it’s starting to get so popular. Whyyyyy lol. It really is the best though 😂
Food terminal has a couple locations. Surprised it was in the Michelin guide. Lhanzou is incredible and worth the drive if you’re in the area.
Glad to see you visiting Atlanta.
You gotta try LR burger in downtown Duluth and Okiburi Ramen in Buford, GA mike!
I have to go to Burford Hwy and try some of these places it's been a minute for me.
Man..I moved away last year and you hit up several of my favorites!! All we have here are pizza chains and a really bad americanized Chinese place. I miss Atlanta food so much!!
Dang gotta check these out. If yoy're staying longer i recommend the brisket at fox bros bbq
Now, I don't know if you've done so or not Mikey, but I wish that you, or ANY really, of the food folks that I follow would come out to Sacramento. I have this weird memory thing, so I can't remember any of the really bangin' places out here. I love pig trotters ❤
That cheese steak sandwich looks like it would tastes better than it looks! 🙂👌😯😋😋😂😂
Next time you have to go to k factory it was right next to that jusgo shopping center with the xian gourmet house
Atlanta has always been an International Food Haven. At least for the last 50 years that I’ve been here.
I think it started in the 80's. I remember when Buford Highway was just beginning to have international spots! 😂. I left for 25 years, came back and now it's expansive, 5 lanes and many miles!
You need to try Best BBQ inside Great Wall Supermarket. Get the Seafood Pan Fried Noodles or their wonderful dim sum selection like their Siu Mai!
Mike try Bella Vista in Conyers Georgia!!!
I used to live in Conyers and miss Bella Vista so much
Now if only Atlanta could get some more seriously good BBQ places. That and a Gold Star chili.
Try Ming's BBQ over at Gwinnett Place, love their duck!
If I lived in Atlanta, I'd be seeking these places out, for darn sure! They all sounded awesome.
Can't wait to try these spots!
Hey mikey! I love your narrative when you're describing food and how it reminds you of your childhood..... Food has that power!❤
So amazing
Buford Highway has been like that for decades
Lanzhou with out getting the fried dumplings or the noodle dish is a sin. Its unlikely but get the number 1 noodle dish, make it spicy and the pan fried dumplings.
Wait was that a spirit flight? If you do just an hour or 3 tops spirit is ok on a budget. 👌🏾
Saving this for the next time I'm there to see friends ❤️
I used to live in Inman Park and I ate at Fred's damn near every day. It was a problem haha
