Yum, this will be so much better than the ready made syrup in the store. I also use the cocoa for hot chocolate. It’s so much better than the little packets of ready made hot chocolate.
Hello everything taste better than store brought lol lol lol. looks so good and a recipe to write down. well one thing for sure we are stocking up on cocoa powder because we make alot of things from scratch. the wind is blowing so hard today we have almost lost power a few times. I guess i am not ready for that either lol lol but we do have a lot of blankets he he he. Thank you for sharing, God bless stay safe and have a wonderful day
This looks so good. I bet it's great for hot cocoa.🤭 Waiting on our homemade vanilla extract, that's when we started watching you and subscribed, to be ready then we'll make this. 🙄 Not, we'll use store bought for now and make another batch next year when homemade is done.🎉🤣 Thank you again. Blessings, take care and stay safe 🤗💐
@@suburbanhomesteaderwy-az Almost, but mine isn't as "shelf stable" as yours. It's 3/4 c. of sugar, 3 T. unsweetened cocoa, a pinch of salt(but I like a touch more) Mix those together. Add 2T of water and blend well. Then add in 2/3c. of evaporated milk and bring to a boil over med heat and boil 1-3 minutes. Depends how thick you like it. I like mine runny. Take off burner and add 4T. of butter and stir till it's a all melted, then add 1-2 teaspoons of vanilla extract
Just wanted to stop in after joining you the other night in Tim’s channel Ridgelife. I just subbed. Can’t wait to watch some videos and get to know your channel;)
Looks similar to what I've been making, I think the measurements are slightly different and the directions are too. I'm going to try this simple syrup start method this time to see if it tastes better!
Starting as a simple syrup definitely helps keep a consistent viscosity! The recipe that I've been using is rough the same, but makes slightly more (makes sense for me as we have 6 people). Its been a great update to my process
I made this and it was amazing! However once put in the refrigerator it gets grainy and if I use it to make chocolate milk it doesnt want to mix into the milk easily at all.. What am I doing wrong?
Was the jar or container you used to store it clean? A lot of simple syrup bases will crystalize if there is even just a speck of something in the container. I occasionally have that issue when making caramel syrups too.
If you mix your coco and sugar together first,There will be no lumps in the sugar and it will save you time not having stir as much. Also ADD half a teaspoon of salt .It won't be so bitter I've been making this for over 50 years. Just an FYI it's one third cup Coco to one cup sugar .
I used to make a sort of sauce like this but I would add butter and a bit under a 1/4 tsp of salt to counter the bitterness of the cocoa (Hershey's). 1 c water, 1 1/2 c sugar, 1/4 c butter, 1/3 c of cocoa, scant 1/4 tsp salt. At the very end I'd add some gd cinnamon. But only because this sauce was destined for some banana bread and peanut butter cookies.
I want to lick the pan!🍦 with brown sugar to keep it from getting hard like you know it does if you take it clean terracotta pot just a chunk of it soak it overnight in water . The next day just wipe it off and stick it in the jar with your sugar
@jane fogle do you mean a chard of terra cotta pot? Not the whole pot. Have I understood the idea correctly? Because my country Granma Adele used to keep her chunks of raw sugar in a terra cotta pot, a dry one, because my grandfather loved eating it after dinner for dessert!
SHE REALLY NEEDS TO SPECIFY DONT TAKE THE HEAT OVER 5! MEDIUM! AND TO MIX THAT MF AS HARD AS U CAN FOR 5 MINUTES WHEN U START WITH THE CHOCO POWDER!!! I ALMOST BURNT MY HOUSE DOWN!!!
Who wants to make Banana Splits?
MEEE
I love banana splits. Now I want one
@@janiefoglewohlerspantryand2102 We hadn't had a banana split in a long time, it was great.
Did anybody else make this immediately, and suck down 2 warm tablespoons to be sure it was really that good? IT IS!!!
So fun!!!!!

So good Kevin. Your boys would love it.
I went ahead and bloomed my cocoa powder with a bit of water so that I could mix it easier!
Can you use monkfruit sweetener instead of sugar
I would like to know that too. Maybe Splenda?
I am not sure but maybe
Looks soooo yummy!! I had to chuckle when you used a liquid measuring cup for sugar and a dry measuring cup for water!!
lol I know I never care........lol
I can make Maple syrup :) 8 gallons of sap will make 1 pint of syrup. Thanks fun video :)

Does this syrup dissolve well for chocolate milk? Looking for a good, HFCS-free alternative for my kiddos.
Yes, we mix it with milk.
