Cellar hole hunting is hard hunting. It's an entirely different ball game. Takes a bit of skill. You guys do a great job. The thing that gets me about the barber is it's reeded. The ability to counterfeit a reeded edge is incredibly difficult.🧐 Happy Hunting! 😉
Silver coins do break, I am always surprised to see Americans that are surprised to see broken silver coins or silver coins that are falling apart. This is more common in other parts of the world I think. On American youtube video’s dug up silver coins always come out of the ground quite shiny as most are found on non fertilized ground. In Europe you find 80 year old silver coins that are completely black or covered with black ‘corrosion’. They also break or even crumble if the soil condition is rough.

Im going to guess the coin was in a fire and made the silver brittle. I have a few the same way that were found in burnt down homesites. All tester silver.

Found a relic, piece of pottery, and aluminum strap first time around our apartment. New detector I got for my 75th birthday.
