  • Spontanious short anamorphic test at night with the Lumix Gh5, no story intended. No rig, cage or gimbal used, all handheld with IBIS on.
    It's only the second time I'm testing this particular scope. Taking lens is a random but nice Auto Chinon 55mm f1.7 on a m42 dummy adapter ( FF equivalent 110mm). Though not as sharp as a Nikkor it has a vintage character close to the Helios.
    Profile: Cine-D all neutral except sharpness at -5
    Shot in 8 bit 4k 50p and 1080 125 fps
    ISO between 1000 and 1600. Only the last shot was at 3200. No noise reduction used.
    Please note that YT compression is not the best, the original file doesn't show the nasty artifacts.

    Love Love Love the shots. Lot's of people using anamorphic setups overdo it with grain and color, nice to see someone make footage that feels real. Very "Blade Runner" too might I add ;)

    I've been watching your videos over and over. Absolutely fantastic work. Have you considered writing up a guide or doing tutorial videos? I'd love to get into anamorphic, but the choice of scopes and setups is intimidating, and none of the sample footage on youtube comes close to looking as good as what you're able to produce.

    beautiful shots! My favorite on low light anamorphic with GH5. Is that lens Iscomorphot s8 the same like Iscomorphot 8/1,5?

    I love your work! I have been looking to mount similar lens to my GH5, what m42 adapter do you use?

    • @ichidomo
      @ichidomo  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I used a cheap $10 m42 adapter, make sure it has a flange ring build in.

    Jezus man your video's are really inspiring and make me wanna go out and shoot. I have a question about the camera. I'm planning to buy a GH5 but I don't know what lens I should buy. I use it for making documentaries and aftermovies (clubs/festivals). Which lens would you recommend?

    • @TheDrumchef
      @TheDrumchef 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Metabones Speedbooster and a Sigma 18-35. Anamorphic for what you're want to do is going to be a pain in the bum hole until you're really really proficient. One day. That sigma/metabones setup is the gold standard for versatility and a quality image.

    Do you have a single focus solution for your setups or you just double focus?

      I don't do either way since I don't own a rectilux (yet). The iscomorphot S8 2x is a fixed scope. Did an inf mod and just used a diopter and the ETC mode.

    what aperture did you shoot at? Wide open?

    • @ichidomo
      @ichidomo  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Ryan Wright this was as good as wide open in most shots between f1.7 and f2, you can see the bokeh is still rounded.

      Nothing. The isco s8 2x is a fixed scope. Don't have a var diopter yet. Right now I use the ETC mode and fixed diopters to mimic a different focal lenght.

    Can't understand how you're not getting noise.

    • @ichidomo
      @ichidomo  6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      rashid Williams
      Noise comes from either a way too high ISO value (abobe 3200) bad exposure or a combination of both. The Gh5 is very fine up to 3200 in 4k, though I prefer 1600. One can get noise at ISO 400 even if you're exposure is wrong. Key here is to never underexpose and you're fine. The Gh5 is not an a7sii that can see way past your eye vision but I like my footage to look like the way my eyes see it, I don't have to see past the dark. Needless to say I didn't use a noise reducer. It's a fable the gh5 series is bad in low light. One just has to expose correct, same would apply a to a RED.

    • @yurifigueroam
      @yurifigueroam 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I like your answer, however I still don't understand how your image is so noise-clean, coming from a gh5. Were you at f 1.7 in all your shots? what is your secret?

      This particular shoot was without any focal reducer, just a dunmy adapter to m42.
