    I do not know why nobody is commenting, but this is one of the best images i have seen from the gh4 and nobody is saying anything. Everything i have seen on other videos looks so washed out in a sad attempt to color grade. Yet this has nice contrast with rich deep tones. very filmic. Great work.

      You're the best! Thanks for the kind words. Color correction for this was very basic, done in After Effects. I used CineV as the in-camera color setting

    I'm looking to get a very similar setup at the moment. I'm wondering if you used a Speedbooster on the GH4? I only use EF glass, so will need a speedbooster. Have you tried this?

    • @rogersieber2826
      @rogersieber2826  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      This was shot without the Speedbooster, I just use the cheap passive adapters and stick with the wider taking lens

  • @JohnFelipo
    @JohnFelipo 9 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Probably the nicest looking GH4 footage I've seen! A true testament to your talent, since the camera is quite limited in specs

    Nicely done...didn't realize the SLR Anamorphot could be used w/ a Canon lens...thought it had to be on a m4/3 lens. Was that the widest it could go w/o vignetting?

    • @rogersieber2826
      @rogersieber2826  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That's the widest I could go without vignetting. It seems to be right on the verge of being too wide (diopters/filters on top start to vignette slightly)

    Amazing video, what where your settigns for cinelikeV and masterpedestral, highlights curve ?

    • @rogersieber2826
      @rogersieber2826  8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Honestly I can't remember exactly, but I think I had flattened the CineV settings and boosted Masterpedestal all the way, keeping the highlight curve flat at 0

    the best footage so fare, with the gh4. please what exactly have you used, the metabones ef with 28mm f1.8 plus the SLR ??

    • @rogersieber2826
      @rogersieber2826  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks! No metabones for this, all the lens specs are now listed in the video description

    Hello Roger! i have a qestion. I have a GH4 and Rokinon 35mm . I wonder who anamorphic lens would you recommend as the theme of the threads !

    • @youmetalcobra
      @youmetalcobra 9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      pd: metabones are used too?

    • @rogersieber2826
      @rogersieber2826  8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I didn't use a metabones for this one, just the SLR Magic 1.33x adapter. I'd prefer the 2x version of the same adapter!

  • @TheRestlesstonight
    @TheRestlesstonight 9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    hey roger... beautifull work. You defenatly have the "eye".
    Are you using diopters? I seem to get way to much chromatic aberration on my Lumix G X Vario 12-35mm

    • @rogersieber2826
      @rogersieber2826  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Much appreciated! I didn't use any diopters for this, the anamorphic adapter just seems to pair well with the 28mm Canon lens.

      This was just basic color adjustments/levels in After Effects. The film look comes from the use of the anamorphic lens! Can't live without it

    • @MichaelJohnsenOslo
      @MichaelJohnsenOslo 10 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Roger Sieber Yeah, it's often hard to dedicate yourself to a certain color style when you see how great the colors can look straight from the camera with a slight boost to saturation. Anyway, great video. Nice to see I'm not the only guy dragging my gf/friends around in front of the cam :3

    nice video! maybe this has been asked, but to focus do u have to turn the lens and anamorphot or just the lens to get focus

    • @rogersieber2826
      @rogersieber2826  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I had to focus both lenses at the same time, it's not the most efficient but it works with practice!

  • @Flipside3D
    @Flipside3D 10 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Nice smooth shots considering the bulk of the anamorphic lens. Shoulder rig? Or something else?

    • @rogersieber2826
      @rogersieber2826  10 ปีที่แล้ว +12

      This was on a Redrock Micro shoulder rig with 2x counter-balance weights. I also had to carry my girlfriend's purse around my shoulder for all of these shots to avoid it being in the frame so that definitely helped with stabilization -__-

  • @MassiveBadgers

    • @rogersieber2826
      @rogersieber2826  10 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      It's been through a slight post process in AE. Levels, contrast, film grain, etc.

    • @grahamcoia5505
      @grahamcoia5505 9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Roger Sieber Considering the very basic grading, the results are very impressive. I am a huge fan of the GH4+anamorphic lens and you've pretty much nailed it here. Look forward to seeing more. Do you have a Vimeo channel? If not, you should.

    @vini.berger 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Hi Roger, great video! I was wondering if you had to use diopters to achieve focus during the close shots of the girl (that are awesome). Could you manage pulling focus on the lens and the adapter?

    • @rogersieber2826
      @rogersieber2826  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I didn't use any diopters for this, just attempted to pull focus on the taking lens and adapter on the fly. It's not easy!

  • @Kentiapalme
    @Kentiapalme 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    what I'm missing here is the oval bokeh look, the kinda stretched blurriness in the background that'd make it look more vintage

    • @rogersieber2826
      @rogersieber2826  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I wish it had more of that as well, I'd need a 2x adapter instead

    Awesome shots! video greatly done so well! keep it up! new sub by here ^^
    btw, if u don't mind me asking. what settings did you use for the low lighting scenes?

    • @rogersieber2826
      @rogersieber2826  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I used simple CineV settings and then boosted ISO for the low light scenes. Color correction was done in After Effects but was very minimal

  • @luckycha4460
    @luckycha4460 9 ปีที่แล้ว

    I have a few questions to ask: I notice you need a certain thread size for the anamorphot lens adapter from my research. Would I be able to purchase a step down adapter ring? Will I lose quality from the step down ring adapter? If I use a ND fliter would that dim out the lens flare or completely get rid of it?
    I have the Rokinon 35mm cine f1.5 lens, Tamron 17-50 f2.8, and Tokina 11-16 f2.8 lens. Those lens thread will for sure not be able to attach the anamorphot adapter.
    If you can help answer these question that will be great!

    • @rogersieber2826
      @rogersieber2826  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The ND filter won't affect the flares, also, I use step down rings for everything and the quality never seems to suffer

  • @SuperAsianboy95
    @SuperAsianboy95 9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Hey, First of all, your shots look gorgeous!!!
    So My question would be: Which lenses did you use, which anamorphiot, or maybe even anamorphic lenses? nad what software did you use as your film emulator if you did so?
    I know lots of questions, but this footage really is inspiring and I'd like to know how you achieved it!
    Thanks in Advance :D

    • @rogersieber2826
      @rogersieber2826  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you! I appreciate it. The lenses and adapter are now listed in the video description. I did basic color correction in After Effects (no LUTs or film emulation). The film look comes from the anamorphic setup!

  • @SaysYtrt
    @SaysYtrt 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

  • @unusualsuspect6183
    @unusualsuspect6183 9 ปีที่แล้ว

    you can use a 28mm on the slr what'd the widest lens you can use before you get hit with warp black edges i wonder if my 55mm zeiss outs will work with the slr magic

    • @rogersieber2826
      @rogersieber2826  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Without a metabones speedbooster a 28mm seems to be the widest lens you can use before it starts to vignette

  • @ReanCombrinck
    @ReanCombrinck 10 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Excuse my naivete, but what does anamorphic add besides the lens flares? Nice vid btw!

    • @rogersieber2826
      @rogersieber2826  10 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks! The lens creates a more cinematic/"filmic" look to video, as well as adding the horizontal flares. It also sets you up to shoot a wider aspect ratio on an unaltered sensor, which you have to stretch back out in post.

    • @ReanCombrinck
      @ReanCombrinck 10 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thats pretty cool. I have a 5D mkii and think this would add alot, but what I like is that I can use it with any camera, or lens atleast that fits the thread. Did you buy it or did you only use it for a time? To the effect of: is it worth getting NOW, or would you rather suggest this as a later purchase after all the regular things like lighting, rigs, sound, etc - Luxury or neccesity?

    • @rogersieber2826
      @rogersieber2826  10 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Rean Combrinck I did buy it, mostly as a way to start using Micro 4/3rds cameras with cinematic results. One thing I'm unhappy about is that dust is already making it's way into the lens housing after a few shooting days. I would recommend renting it instead, but good luck finding anywhere that has one in stock. maybe more places will carry it in stock if it starts getting used by more shooters

    • @ReanCombrinck
      @ReanCombrinck 10 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Roger Sieber Yeah I guess dust comes with these type of things, same with Metabones stuff. Lol, and plot twist, I'd have to buy it if I ever want to use it as I live in South Africa and our rental houses are either archaic, or Arri level (kill me please xD). But I love the look, it really is waay better than post flares and effects which are so cheesy and cheap looking. Im strongly considering the A7s or the GH4 as 'upgrade' options, but then again, buying a proper cinema camera might serve better in the long run. Anyways, thanks for info. Ill subscribe to you so please keep uploading videos! Cheers
