Such amazing captures, I've been looking through many GH5 videos including anamorphic stuff and I must say this totally blew me away and the look you ended up with is beautiful!
I love your videos! I have a gh4 with an elmoscope ii and a speedbooster. I do not know which lens to buy ... if I should take advantage of the metabones and buy a canon 85 mm or the famous helios and some Chinese adapter for giving some examples. What would you recommend? I would greatly appreciate your response, see you later!
Thanks! Really depends on what focal length you want, you should be able to go as wide as. 58mm on the gh4 with 2X anamorphic in 4:3 mode, the helios 58mm is relatively cheap to start with, with a solid M42 to EF adapter you're set. Canon 85mm should be nice too, but obviously will be a bit of a tighter lens overall!

I'm not in micro 4/3 world but *this footage looks amazing!*
OK how about this math: 40 * 2 = 80. 80 * 0,71 = 56.8. Then 56.8 * 1.4 = 79.52. And 2x anamorphic stretch does NOT mean that the focal length is 2x. The horizontal is 2x, but the vertical is unchanged. That's why you get a wider FOV but the same focal length.
Nahua808 I don't care about vertical fov at all. I have gh4, kowa BH and Canon 28, and I have big barrel distortion without vingetting. I'm interested how this set up will work on gh5, and I don't care how you name it fov or focus distance of lens, because for me in ana world it's the same.
I have both the GH4 and GH5, and the exact same setup of Kowa BH, Rectilux and Speedbooster XL. For GH5, must be 50mm lens for no vignette (but with barrel distortion). If you want no barrel distortion, then you're looking at minimum Helios 58mm. He shot it all w/ ETC, so it's all 1.4x time zoom and no barrel distortion. I hope this helps
Awesome video! You nailed the cinematic look. I was looking to purchase this exact setup. However, I am confused on the anamorphic aspect of it. I am not sure how the adapters and lenses work together? Could you please explain and give me an estimate of how much everything was? That would be awesome.
Thank you dude! In a nutshell, from camera body to the front of the setup goes like this: GH5 > Metabones Speedbooster 0.71X > Voigtlander 40mm F2 SL II > Rapidotechnology V2 clamp > Kowa for Bell & Howell 2X Anamorphic Projector lens > Rectilux Hardcore DNA > 86mm Bower Variable ND. Hope that helps haha, If you send me a message in a few weeks, there will be a blogpost with a video walk through about the whole setup with me explaining it!
+heyyoumen1 anytime! Yea that helps out a lot! Hope to see more videos on your channel. If you could put up a video of your camera and how you set it up would be great! But yea man keep up the good work.
Hi there! I don't plan on doing a blog post anytime soon, but here's an older post did by a buddy of mine on my setup, and also his. you can check it out here, its almost identical to the setup I've used to shoot this video: www.nilesheckman.com/blog/2017/7/10/joanna-we-need-to-talk-about-your-flare
heyyoumen1 thanks for the quick response! I asked you about it on my other TH-cam account and you said to ask about it! Thanks for the link! Very helpful!
Just amazing ! I'm kinda of jealous lol, how did you get all those lenses? I can't wait to jump on true anamorphic look but the cost haunt me lol. Anyway, really cool video !
I'm not a fan of the barrel distortion. Truly high quality anamorphic setups have straight lines. The distortion does not make it "cool" -- it only makes it look cheap.
Zangeef Fangsteen that’s fair, but this is not high end anamorphic by any means. And some people actually like the distortions on the wider ends like Wes Anderson
Just ordered the 40mm today, pairing with a sankor 16f, can't wait. This video got me hyped.
Thank you! I suddenly stumbled over something really worth watching. The quality and feel i s so good, I could easily see this is no random setup.

Very good job ! I felt emotions !
Beautiful!
Immeadiately subscribed after the first few shots hahah! Looks great
Love this! The evening shots were fantastic.
I like that you find the beauty in your own home.
Haha true that!
so beautifull !!!
Very nice man ! Damn that's a perfect anamorphic setup !
Well done overall!
I watched this video and then read the channel name after and realized it was you, Ben. Quality work as always
Thanks Kevin!
amazing footage ! wich lens did you used ?
Thanks! All the info for the lens setup is listed in the description! Cheers

Thanks! yeah, this is I guess not technically 4/3 anymore because of the speed booster, but the little sensor can do wonders!
100% agree!
Speed booster is must have on 4/3.
its flmed using crop mode or full sensor of gh5? i'm asking because 40*0.71=28mm and kowa bh covering this mm without barrel distortion??
GH5 is 2x crop. So 40 * 0.71 * 2 = 56mm (FF equiv). If it was all ETC mode, then 1.4x on top of that
Nahua808 40*0.71*2crop and/2 cause of kowa. so 28.

I concur with this.
Hey now! Is that video live? Would love to check it out.
Will you make the blog post on how to put this setup together?

hi, is this SLII N or SLII S? for Nikon mount?
Hi, this is actually the Canon EF mount version.
please tell me what you used shutter speed at 60 fps (125/180?)
I sued shutter angle 180 degree !
Just amazing ! I'm kinda of jealous lol, how did you get all those lenses? I can't wait to jump on true anamorphic look but the cost haunt me lol. Anyway, really cool video !
Thanks dude! haha, My wallet is jealous too...haha, I sourced all the parts from all over the internet, got the scope form eBay!
holy shit, 40mm with a speedbooster and the kowa b&h works without vignetting? I think you cropped for 2.40:1 right?
I used the ETC crop in mode unfortunately, but the end resolution is still 2.667:1 !
all is great and i love that camera too, but the skin tones, man they need to fix this
dope Ben! any final thoughts on the gh5?
Yoo Max! Haha, its a great compact camera!! loving it, still waiting for the V-Log, cuz they ship my mail, so dumb
