The 4th-generation 2023 Honda Pilot is built on Honda’s light truck architecture, which has some commonalities with the Acura MDX. The pilot’s new body is stiffer than the previous one. It’s also grown, with a 2.7” longer wheelbase plus a wider front and rear track.
For power, the Pilot carries on with a 3.5L V6 engine (285hp, 262 lb-ft) paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission featuring standard paddle shifters.
The interior has grown in both passenger and cargo space. As for infotainment, it’s handled in most trims by a 9-inch screen, though a 7-in unit comes in the base Sport trim. With either screen, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are included, though both are wireless with the 9-inch screen.
The Honda Pilot’s trim lineup has been overhauled for 2023. The Sport trim is now the base version with the EX-L, TrailSport, Touring, and Elite trims above it, in that order.
The TrailSport is the most off-road-oriented version, and it features Continental TerrainContact all-terrain tires whose movement is managed by an off-road-tuned suspension with a 1” lift. It also has steel skid plates, a full-size spare, plus recovery points integrated into the front skid plate and tow hitch.
Honda has outfitted the Pilot with a standard suite of active driver assists including lane keeping assist, automatic emergency braking with pedestrian and bicyclist detection, blind spot warning, and 8 airbags.

@@JSFitness I love both Toyota and Honda but I have to give the edge to Honda in tech features. Things just work smoother on Hondas. Like their walk away auto lock. I had it on a Civic and it worked perfectly every time. Toyota has touch lock and unlock but its a bit quirky.

I used to live in Chicago and NYC and I’ve driven everything from a tiny VW Fox that I could almost lift, to good old big American sedans. Maneuvering and parking the VW was a breeze. With the big American sedans, I was glad to have very solid bumpers.
I actually did look up the turning circle on the new Pilot. It’s not bad at all. 37.8 feet. That’s about the same as a Honda Accord. Go Honda! With surround view cameras on higher trims and parking sensors, this thing could actually work in cities.

More rugged, upright, and boxy seems to be the goal. Pathfinder has become, from round and jellybean. Highlander still seems roundish. Pilot is now more upright and boxy. Traverse was and will become more most likely. Ascent is jellybean-like.. Mazda seems to be getting more upright and boxy. Explorer is much sharper as well.

Honda messed up the secret sauce of that boxy look. They made it look like a glorified CRV recently…..until now. This one look like they are headed in the right direction. I have a 2011 Pilot. Will wait a few more years and see if Honda can improve upon this years model.

Please…can the new Ridgeline look this good? And have attractive rugged tail lights? And have a higher ride height? Thank you Honda

Love the looks and the direction Honda SUVs are going. But why have captain seats or removable center seat if you can't have foldable internal arm rests? Now my passngers arms will just dangle down?

    • @MercenaryJoe

Just leave the center seat folded and you have armrests.

Get the Odyssey. It’s better than any SUV 😂

      @@realnapster1522 Odyssey doesn't offer IVTM4 AWD Torque Vectorng . Odyssey can't do soft off-roading.
      Odyssey can't tow 5,000 lbs.
It's preference and needs many people don't like minivans.
