- Dealers CAN'T SELL Their Trucks Anymore, So Now They're DUMPING THEM
In this video you will get to see what car dealers are actually paying for their cars and trucks at auction!
My name is Brandon and I am a used car dealer. I created Car Questions Answered to share the ins and outs of the used car market from my perspective. I share with you updates on car prices, what's happening at the dealer auctions, and what it's like being a dealer. My goal is to share information to help you make the best decisions while buying a car to save you money. I do not want car dealers taking advantage of you.

Seems like I've been hearing about the "collapse" of the car price gouging for months and yet, they're still charging $75,000 for an F150.
They're still FA. But they're going to FO.
Prices is going down
they're still hoping to catch the last batch of bank backed suckers, dealers might be in for rude awakening because even with factory financing incentives, things aren't moving.
Gotta get those clicks right? Housing and stock market have also been "about to collapse" for the last decade or so. All that funny money the government hands out has to go somewhere.
They obviously don't care if they can't sell their vehicles. The democrats would bail them out if they were to file bankruptcy
The bedazzling on the civic tells me the oil was changed at least every 50k miles 😂
Exactly!
I was thinking never changed
Picture the woman’s breakfast on the way to work in a hurry late on the phone dropping fries and milkshake all over. Would that person even have any friends!?
Nah, no change. Just add when low.
What?! You have to change the oil?
Dumping them you say? I’m ready to be dumped on...call when a new Tundra is $35,000. Waiting by the phone...

Mhmmmm. Lol You and me both. Thankfully I don’t need a new car, bc I know that’s not happening. Unfortunately so many people that claim they’re grown-ass adults haven’t figured out the difference between “wants” and “needs”. That kind of spending helped get us into the situation we’re in as a whole.
@@brandonbman5921 Yeah I don’t need a new car either. I’m driving around in my 200,000 mile beater Honda CRV. But I would love a new pick up truck…
That Barbie Honda civic within 163k miles is NOT even worth $7800. People are still crazy as heck.
Luckily for the auctions there’s people dumb enough to pay that price
Right. That civic was a 3500$ beater at best.
But its a Civic. theey bring good money. My 2014 has 152,000 miles still runs like new no repairs. Just change oil every 5k miles and change the cvt trans fluid every 30k miles.
🫤 a clown ran my Civic SI off the road at 100,000miles, it was $24k brand new 6yrs ago, a PLAIN Civic at 150,000 miles was listed at $25k, like WTF!?!
This civic had 141k miles. But price is still high.
201,000 miles and still a bid as high as $21,400 for that F250? Lmaoooooooo!
And they’re going to try to sell it for 25k 😂
It's a $90k truck. Whoever bought it is probably feeling pretty low.
One man's trash is another man's treasure he can't afford.
That kinda mileage stuff is starting to break and with the cost of parts that is going to hurt that truck shouldn't go beyond 9.5 to 10 k max

I just saw an ad for a Silverado 1500 at the local dealer for $89k. If that's dumping you have a much different definition than I do.
They are still selling a $45k pickup for over $90k.
And they wonder why things aren't so grand.
Dealers are NOT dumping vehicles.. I just left a Ford dealership, I offered the salesman $1,000 less than sticker price on a 2024 f150. The salesmen laughed and said no chance. I said OK and they let me walk, they did not attempt an counter offer.
They're dumping leftover 23's most likely. In what universe do you think you're paying $1000 under sticker for the best selling truck in America? I don't blame them for laughing. An offer like that is just pure arrogance on your part.

Fake news dude. a customer of mine just bought a new ram 2500 6.7l 7k under MSRP. It’s national news the dealers are overstocked with trucks.
21400 for a 200k vehicle. They are outta their f minds.
its a good price if you are poor. Pay $80-90k for it new or pay 75% off buying a 3year old vehicle. You cant get the same truck for 21k in that good of condition. Get your bread up.

What is normal to you?
I remember growing up in the 60’s and 70’s when you wouldn’t even consider buying a vehicle with over 100K miles. 😲
But then again paying $100K for a pickup truck would have been just as crazy. 🤪💸
In 1984 you could buy a new Toyota 4WD truck for 12K, we did.
Back in the '60's the machine clearances were very sloppy and engine parts wore out quickly. Now most are BMW tight and the oils are made with better additives so they do last much longer if maintained and driven properly.
My first car back in 1980 was a 1964 Ford Falcon. It had only 64k miles when I got it. I was all used up at that point. Rust everywhere and the engine had to be swapped out for another of the same cubic inches. Thankfully they don't make cars like that anymore other than they were easy to work on.
Remember back in the 60s when people made like $5k a year
but do you remember that car commercial where they put the marble into the crack between the hood and the quarter panel and rolled it down perfectly? yea today nobody does that cause its expected all cars will have tight enough tolerances to hold it in the crack all the way down, and that their car will do 150-200k miles
Ive owned my cars for 20+ years and have never had a disgusting interior. Not once. So disgusting.
Probably a repo.
Agree, and it’s pretty easy tbh. “Don’t eat in the car” is basically all you have to do. Soda is fine if you clean it up immediately if there’s a spill.
Get rubber floor mats if you’re in an area with mud.
I even break my own rule a few times a year and eat in the car, just be careful. It’s not hard folks.
Same here, my interiors are always clean and stain free. I don’t get how people do that. Can’t blame kids if they’re the ones doing it, that’s poor parenting if that’s the case.
@@billbob4856 I've eaten and at some point spilled coffee in every car I've owned and none of them ever looked that gross. Barbie neglected that car
Well, you can kiss my sloppy, sweaty ass. I permanently stained my seats on the first day. Just get that shit out of the way. If passengers complain, they exit at highway speeds. Damn, son, if you can't eat a hotdog with extra chili and fixings doing 80 in a 25, what's the point.
It's remarkable how filthy people's vehicles are. The 2nd most expensive asset most people will ever own and they trash it.
Truth! My '98 Dak still looks almost new inside and it's been used for all kinds of jobs. I didn't really spend a lot of time keeping it that way either. It's not that difficult.
Imagine their hygiene issues.😊
@@anthonyrussell4888 Imagine their home.
Across the board, it's the single biggest issue. People pay tens of thousands of dollars for these vehicles and then can't be bothered to even change the oil. Sometimes they never have the oil changed, the engine inevitably fails, and they just let the bank take it back when they can't afford to fix it.
That black stuff on the seats looks to me like - food/drinks spilled, possibly buried underneath fast food wrappers and other trash, not cleaned up, then molding. That's what my expert knowledge from watching "Hoarders" tells me.

A properly maintained vehicle can last many many miles. My 2001 Honda Accord has 306,000 miles with no major repairs. Routine oil/filter change, three timing belt/water pump kits, occasional pads/rotors, new tires.
Excellent
I'm guessing that you did oil changes at 5k or less, correct?
It's still clownworld to pay double what that Civic is worth. Especially a late 2000's Honda which had garbage quality.
I had that same model Accord. As a road salesman I drove 900 to 1000 mis. per week. Oil change every 5000 miles. Same maintenance as youts. Sold in 2018 at 395,000 miles for $500. Still a reliable car.
You take care of something you value or you're a fool.
Your 2001 Accord was the end of an era for quality. Today's plastic, turbocharged, direct injected, low viscosity oiled engines will never achieve what the old hondas and toyotas were capabe of.
That F250 30 K on a phone call two weeks ago, now 21 400 on a phone call on this one. Let them bleed and force sell it at 10 K. The Stealers deserve every lowball offer they get. If you wait long enough, you can buy that F250 for three grand and sell it for $4500. lol.
The high mileage used car market NEEDS TO GET A GRIP. I've not been able to find a single honest dealer in Texas. We need a Brandon.
Flying to Brandon, buying from Brandon, and driving home from Brandon's will probably cost you less in the long run.
That F-250 with high mileage will never sell above 20k, no one is insane enough to run the risk of major repairs.

Too much work 4 them, gamble on earnings,
It's an auction house, not a used car lot. Detailing costs money and the auction house isn't going out of pocket to detail a vehicle - that gets passed to the dealer that bought it. Same with everything else on the vehicle: body dents, broken trim, that's all up to the dealer to fix before it goes onto his lot.
Biohazard. I'm surprised it didn't reek of puke when he opened the door.
@@treehuggerdeluxe5598 The auction house doesn't own the cars. They sell them as presented. It behooves the OWNER to make it look more presentable to fetch maximum dollars. I've been in the car business for 25 years. Always best to put your best foot forward.
@@estern001 TRUE
After high school I worked at a gas station. A guy came in all the time but never let he check his oil. Finally with the engine making more noise each time he came in, he let me check it and it was 3 quarts low he had Never changed the oil after he bought it from the looks of the engine but keep the outside and inside immaculate condition.
My stepdad used to quietly check the oil and other fluids in our vehicles when we were teens. If you ever ran anything low you might just get it taken away for a while. He didn't bluff either. LOL He would let a guy he knew at a Ford dealership look out for a good, safe used car and get us one when we started driving. Anything later that we might want we had to figure out how to buy ourselves.
Out of sight, out of mind.
Northern Ontario here and we still have snow banks and the trees have not even thought bout putting leaves on our trees.
Kids cause the stains. As a parent who raised 3 children and this happened to our first vehicle. After that, no eating or drinking in the vehicle.
Finally! Someone who knows how to parent. Thank you !
1:39 it's spilled drinks that contain sugar. The back seat is caused by kids, and the front seat can be parents setting bottles on the seat, or careless people spilling and not cleaning up. The sugar in the drink gets sticky when the liquid evaporates and grime clings to it. I've seen people do it. I personally think it's disgusting to let your car get like that, first of all. And then secondly, letting people sit on it.
I would be suspicious of a late model truck with very high mileage. It makes me think that they might have skipped some oil changes.
Rather a honest high mileage one, than a tampered odometer
Yes, once the price drops, I'm ready to buy!!
I know they’re not “sexy”, but I wish you’d show more minivans. Very difficult to find a used one, and especially one with low miles. Best practical vehicle out there…haul lots of people, or stuff.
Not only has the interest rate gone up for financing, but more and more people now are carrying balances On ther credit cards Which brings your credit score down which creates even more problems for affordability
The new Tacoma TRD going for 17,000 more than the last model and now is over a $65,000 is just absurd on top of the fact that any other color option other than black is a $500 up charge dealerships are ruining the market
And to top it all off, it's a 4 cylinder.
The 3rd gen Tacoma TRD Pro debuted in 2017 with a price that started at just under $42k. It's over $20k more with the 4th gen. The reliability of the 3rd gen was a joke and now Toyota wants $20k MORE for a totally new Tacoma with zero evidence that it will be any more reliable than the 3rd gen that Consumer Reports rated least reliable truck for 3 or 4 years in a row and continues to have major reliability issues with.
GREED is ruining the market.
It only cost about 20k to build that vehicle in the USA. And that's considering all costs - material, employees, factory, storage.
Sounds more like manufacturers are ruining the market trying to limit color choices by charging extra for anything but black or white.
I just sold my 2005 2500HD Duramax with 128k for $21,000. I paid $27,000 for it 13 years ago with 50k miles on it. This market is insane.

The staining on the seats is dogs.
Barbie took her dogs to the park and let them jump up into the seats with muddy paws.
I would tell myself that also if I had to sit on them, just mud, just mud.
It is said that Ken doesn't know how to act when she takes him out for ice cream either

Uh.. it's more like $60k
Yeah these prices at auction are too high...let alone what they'll list for. Still not even remotely close to where things need to be.
@demwillams8898 not sure when someone is going to let you know, but if you think prices are high then the economy is leaving you behind. The prices are never going to back.
@thedude5040 I said where they need to be, not where I think they'll go. Far too many mega corps keeping prices MUCH higher than they need to be. Plenty of evidence comparing margins to cost/inflation proving this.
You must live in a very poor area.
Please remember people, that the auctioneer (car/real estate/junk/disposal) will pull the bids from the air, passing birds, trees, actual dummy human bidders brought in to raise the price and a phone bid in a lot of cases is me old pal gas bagging about the weather.... my dad told me how to control an auction (50 years in the auto/car industry) and its eye watering to what the auctioneers get away with, be wary.
So Please tell us. How do you control an auction ?
@@uncletoby- Ok, I’m talking any auction that has legislative requirements on the auction process and the auctioneer. The more legislation the better in this instance. (For example, in Australia most States have the Auctioneer and Agents act) research what Legislative requirements are placed on the Auction process and the Auctioneer.
However the tactics I have witnessed and done some of them myself, still work well in the more unregulated auctions. Note: you do have to have a certain quantity of gonads to do this; it can’t be done by beta males. There are two main components:
1) what you have to do is slow the auction down, the only reason for a verbal machine gun ratting out numbers and utterances is to get the audience confused and in the spin of excitement.
2) Sow doubt in the mind of the other bidders.
Again, research the Legislative requirements of the Auctioneer in your State, this will give you the ammo to flex and place the advantage on you.
I will give you an example, we were at an Auto auction, about every fourth or sixth bid my Dad would ask in a loud voice “What is the bid?” almost yelling/directed at the Auctioneer (by law the Auctioneer had to clearly state the current bid, not in his rapid fire but - to - stop and say the current bid) repeat this in the auction process (every 4 or 6 pretend or real bids) on the vehicle he wanted, it totally stuffs up the Auctioneers (snake oil) sales trip/throws the Auctioneer off his groove and pulls the excitement from the air..... The slower pace stop/start causes people to hesitate.
I give you another example on a Real estate auction that I attended with my Dad - and oh boy I was ready to crawl up into a hole and disappear on this one..... The auction was getting towards where my dad was comfortable in paying so he had to slow down the auction down, he asked the current bid and the Auctioneers replied, my dad turned around to FACE the crowd of bidders (this was an auction on the property/front lawn) and said in a very loud mocking voice “Given the condition of this property my final bid is $xxx and THAT’S IT!” - With an animated wave of arms up in the air and he stood there facing the crowd for what seemed like an excruciating long time.
That single action stuffed the auction and my dad bought the property at the price he wanted.
And here’s another gem, at Dealer auctions it worked a treat as the other dealers thought my Dad was a tosser and mostly gave up bidding on the vehicles my dad was bidding on so he got them at a better price or out of spite they over bid just to “get back at him”
If someone from the Auction approaches you to calm you down so that the auction can get back to the pace they want - cause a scene, not enough to get thrown out but enough to draw attention from the bidding to the scene that is happening. You ask, are they discriminating against you? Is that the vehicle that was reported stolen last month?
Also don’t forget in the property auction prices to ask the auctioneer in a loud voice and demand to know if the property has been treated for termites? Next question, spiders? Next question mold etc etc etc.
The auctioneer will refer you to (whatever) but ignore that and keep asking those stalling questions - it works...and that is lesson one in how to turn the auction process to your advantage.
All the seats are stained almost equally in these cars, looks like vengence from the previous owner upset about a repo or default. Houses are the same way, mortgage stops being paid, no maintenance or repairs, so ruin it for the next owner or make the lender work harder.
They're soft drink spills as the sugar turn black in a round pattern.
In the great recession of '08 one of our neighbors who was foreclosed on put concrete down every drain, toilets, floor drain etc. Expensive mess.
There are a lot of people who are just SLOBS. 🤷🏻
People mistreated that Civic because they were the 2nd owner and found out why the first owner had dumped it on a dealer. Late 2000's Honda cars were cost cutter specials and far less reliable than 90's Hondas.
My car has 250K miles and still running. My truck has over 320k miles and still running
Awesome
But it is a big risk to buy one because the next day you may need to spend thousands to repair something
keep going as long as you can...but eventually you will be forced into something newer...anything built after about 2005 is getting difficult to keep maintained...2015 and newer the electronics can be difficult and downright nasty when changing components...2021 and newer, you may have to get the computer programmed at the dealer to when changing certain parts....2025 and newer...dealer only repairs?

Subaru reliability is misleading. That Subaru with 205k is probably on its third long block. The reason they rack up so many miles is through owner loyalty, and corporate Subaru sponsored service. Without those important factors, most Subaru's would be dead by 100k. My son was a service advisor at Subaru for 4 years, and he said nobody should ever buy one.
I wouldnt own a Subaru; I had a friend who wouldn't buy anything else. I have another friend that is Team Kia. It's all about personal likes and dislikes!
You're probably thinking of the older EJ engine Subarus. The Achilles heel of the new ones are the infotainment (garbage from day 1) and the CVT transmissions (~200k mi).

As someone who just pulled his engine in a 2009 Forester non-turbo in order to change out all the seals and gaskets; Subarus are great cars but watch some videos to learn how to see if a subaru has the multi-layer steel (good) head gaskets or the graphite-coated gaskets (which will fail). If they fail the engine will overheat and the heads will be warped; it's a very expensive fix. We bought our Subaru new and I had the tools and skills to pull the motor and refurbish it myself as preventative maintenance as I knew it was only a matter of time before the graphite head gaskets on my non-turbo would fail. It would not have been worth it to me to pay someone to do it; especially after a failure as the repair would be even more costly. Just be aware of this one main flaw in older Subarus before you buy one; they are good, reliable, and safe cars once this gets sorted out. The horizontally opposed boxer engine is awkward to work on in the car as the valve gaskets and spark tube gaskets fail and should be changed out whenever you change your spark plugs. Also, the older EJ's are interference engines with a timing belt that needs to be changed out every 11 years or 105K miles; this is actually very easy to do even with the engine in the car. Make sure to buy the Aisin full timing belt kit. There's also a lot of misinformation about all wheel drive; although it does help you accelerate it does not help you brake or steer; you are better off with a dedicated set of winter tires if you live in the snow belt; and winter tires + AWD is a bit of overkill for most drivers. FWD or RWD + winter tires will actually be safer than AWD with three-season tires.
That's way too many issues I would sooner just have a Honda Civic
99% of Subaru owners would never attempt such a job and would be left financially devastate if they had purchased a Subaru and had to pay someone to do that job. Subaru's are increasingly becoming money pits. If it isn't the engine, it ends up being the junk CVT that can't survive without 30k mile fluid changes.
Used car market absolutely stinks.
Yes it does

I feel personally attacked with that rust comment
It's like the Earth taking back what is hers. The frame on my Colorado disappeared into the atmosphere while the rest of the truck was still like new. I once tried to make change in the way they do it in our rust belt, and I was mysteriously hit with way more pushback than I ever thought I would get. "What, do you WANT to slide into a bus full of kids!"
Whut? lol
That’s what happens when you never hose the undercarriage off. Billy Bob too busy watching other men be men on TV instead of taking care of his ride.
@jasonweishaupt1828 no amount of undercarriage washing will prevent rust in the Midwest
@@jasonweishaupt1828 You could wash the undercarriage of a Toyota truck every day, it will still rot out in record time in the rust belt. I've seen 5 year old Toyota trucks crumble on the lift because they can't handle it.
@car questions answered how much did the white 2017 f150 next to the 250 go for?
This has been said before, but for the price of new vehicles they should come a bumper to bumper warranty for at least 8 years and 125,000 + miles.
12:30 Boses vehicles don't run 200k miles in 2 years. It's something else ..
Hot Shot trucker. Nobody else would drive a Super Duty that far in 2 years.
@@Kwijibob true, but the top trim and top condition don't look like hotshot at all. Strange vehicle
@@RomanVarldrug dealer
A hot shot. Same profession that leads to Tundra trucks piling on 100k to 200k per year.
30K and 21K two weeks later... LMAO @ Dealers
Diesel Silverado is due for a oil pump belt and you have a pull the transmission to do it.
I like the mild roast you got going on that explorer and appreciated the dog joke on the subaru. Definitely mastering talking to the camera. Ik people get a bit butthurt that the topic and therefore descriptions and thumbnail look familiar but we both know the word update and something coming across as routine doesn't pull on the algorithm as well. Personally, I appreciate the regular updates.
50 grand for a truck that’s crazy
But it’s got power windows !!
😂😂😂
Went to a ford dealer the broncos are starting to stack up the f 150s aretoo
I bought a new ‘23 Ram Big Horn Hemi Equip Gr-1 on 3-22-24 with a MSRP of $61k for $49,329 OTD. 26% below msrp, I visited 4 dealers in Indiana and Michigan. Bought near Kalamazoo MI. I did use the 1st Responder and Employee Choice incentive from my cousin who works on the Jeep line in Toledo. I’ve been looking since September of 23 and watching Brandon and the Car Edge channel was helpful. 👏👏👏👏
Love your videos i watchedtwk!
Must be coffee stains? I've never trashed a car like that, those people are animals
High mileage young vehicle means highway miles! Less wear and tear
Not necessarily
Wonder when folks will realize that having a big squared-off hood like that where you can't see anything like pedestrians right in front of the truck doesn't make it a big boy tough truck?
Every time I see a used car the trunk carport or front splash guards are missing. Mine are NEVER missing. I sold my two owner 71 Vette in 2005. Still had its original cargo carpet. My one owner 83 Parisienne still has its original trunk carpet in mint condition.
Toyoto made a foreign truck that is 12 grand, these need to come out cheaper.
Pumping in the back seat 💺 😅😂
SEAT STAINS
1) "leave windows open"
2) "it rains"
3) "in cities, passers-by (vagrants, miscreants in that neighborhood) will toss stuff inside if the car's unattended for many days
Molding starts to happen. Rain has dirt in it. Stuff passers-by toss into the car also have 'ingredients' adding to the stain.
If you leave your windows open accidentally during a rain storm, and you catch it and go out and dry the seats off, they won't stain.
Only an application of liquid (rain or etc), with no clean-up right after, and left to dry slowly, creates stains like that.
EXCEPTION: people who stop making payments might purposely dump stuff on the seats and/or let animals 'do their business' on the interior
All of us have spilled stuff (drinks, water, etc) in our lives on car seats and they don't stain if you clean it up right away.
The days of driving a big four door pickup just for vanity are pretty much over. Paying $3 or more for gas is here to stay. Diesel costs a lot more to own and operate and makes almost zero sense to own unless you derive your income from the truck. Even my carpenter friend wants to get rid of his lifted diesel and have a stock height truck.
My honda civic have the same seat. Doesn't matter how good you clean it after a while it will be all mess up again. It have a lot to do with the color of the seat cause if theres any water drop on it. The area around it will turn black or yellowish.
The F250 is something i am looking for my next vehicle, but 203k mileage is really scary.
Advertise power windows? There was a guy I used to work with, old guy could have retired but didn't want to. He drove an '07 Colorado. When he bought it he very specifically didn't want power doors or windows. It took the dealer a couple of weeks to locate one the next state over.
Does anyone know why Mazda 3 cars drop down so fast in value? Are there quality issues? I'm thinking of getting a used Mazda 3 that is 2018 or newer.
The reason the seats are stained is because the slobs spill crap then just park it in the sun to bake it in.
Since they did away with sedans I can't remember a car I could even want
Vehicles look like similar silver gray turds going down the road now. Most look too much alike.
I still have my 1990 3/4 ton 4x4 chevy suburban and my 1982 Toyota Celica, both I keep up
Which dealer auction is this at? Adessa or Manheim and where is it in Florida or Texas?
@1:30 - You obviously never had 3 crotch-goblins at one time crawling around in there during any number of trips. THAT is how you wreck an interior like that.
Dealers make bank on the service department. Car sales don’t matter at all.
I have been busy at work lately, so I called the Subaru dealer about a Trans fluid change...$1,000. Uh, no.
Question . Why can we not find a new or used chevy trail boss that is not crazy expensive ? The dealers are still not offering muck if any off msrp. Some still have add ons.
Ya knoe i would like to know how the seats gets stained like that also i have 92 escort gt my daily beater love it anyway the car is30 years old and no stains like that on any seats how does that happen
This isn’t “dumping”
Not even close.
Shouldn’t a car with 163,000 miles cost maybe $1500
If it has a blown motor and transmission.
I paid $6800 almost 12 years ago for an '99 rx300 with 152,000 miles on it. Still driving it today with almost 270,000. Replaced starter and a few coil packs plus regular maintenance. I think it was a good value.
What blows my mind is a few years ago all these people were paying 60 or 70 + willingly for trucks. No questions asked. They ruined it for everybody
Which auction did you go to? I go to Manheim in LV and I see the same shit.
