Poor little alfa, i think you made the wrong desicion, sure the F-type is a lovely car, but the alfa 4c is already a classic and a timeless beauty. In 5 years the f-type will look shit and the alfa will still be special.
+Seen Through Glass I get it, the alfa isnt a every-day car, and clearly isnt very comfortable, its supposed to be a fun car for the summer. Maybe Shmee can give you some Investment tips, so you can buy him back as a second car ;) enjoy your new car! Keep the rest of the alfa videos coming.
+jurituri 100% agree. But Goddamn did you see its made out of fiberglass??? Lol Deathtrap. I'm sure the Jag might at least be made of mostly steel, but still probably faster.
a guy near me has a 4c and tbh, it is rarer to see because its the only one ive seen not at a show, but the ftype just sounds so nice (live in detroit) and you can see all these cars on woodward avenue
+John Bidigare I know the F-type is amazing, but it is much more common than the 4C. Don't get me wrong i love the F-Type, but the little Alfa had a novelty the jag doesn't have.
Own a 4C. Have driven extensively in the f type (and been VERY disappointed). And 8 years on, it looks like a terrible decision. I still own my 4C from 2015, and although it has it's downsides, it also inspires love. The f type has just fallen into oblivion. I must admit I no longer take it to London where the lack of power steering/ parking is a big problem. But it's still a proper baby supercar.
Sam, its a great car. I love them too. I am not surprised that after the accident, things started changing--its only natural. Enjoy the F-Type. That thing is a blast. The noise is so much WIN too. Be well and travel safe. Say hi to Paul, Seb & Tim for me!
An Exige just isn't special. That's the difference. It's a track car versus a genuine baby supercar. Can you tell me if your view has changed since you wrote your comment 8 years ago.
it's refreshing to hear a genuine appraisal of the 4C. I think your feelings and experience with it will help potential buyers to make a decision, I know I'd love it despite its indequencies, cheers man!
the Alfa 4C is something like an Lotus or S2000 or Miata. Something raw , small , light with little options. A car to appreciate the handling & the driving experience.
Congrats on the F-type! I actually went the opposite and recently swapped my F-type R for a 4C (not my daily thou) and really you can't go wrong with either car. Both are amazing in their own right - 4C more of a baby supercar and the F-type a budget Aston and more of a GT car. Both are properly quick, beautiful, and will go down as 2 of the all time greats imo.
Sounds like your done a good job of convincing yourself that the 4c is now been done and dusted. I have done this many times. Enjoy the Jag, it will suit your accent
If you have the option for something that is easier to use and more practical, you should take it, because then who's going to take it? Anyone with third world problems (more serious issues) would do the same, they would go with practicality if it was an option to them. There is no point ignoring a chance of more ease of access.
you can drive in London west end and see a hand full of jags but every time you see an Alfa is a special event. it was the same treatment when I had my 159 TI
4c is afantastic second car. A car that give all the emotion you can desire. But not for everyday car. I’m looking for one of these jewels…..because I already have the cars to drive everyday. And I want to smile again driving a car!
Hello, Sam! I totally understand your emotions about letting the 4C go. I was in a similar situation when I owned a Lotus Elise, and although I enjoyed my time with the little sports car, I wasn't able to enjoy it on a daily basis, and who wants to have a car in the garage 5 days out of 7 per week. I now own a 2007 BMW Z4M Roadster, and am perfectly happy with it, but the F-Type may be my "future car to be". Thanks for you video, as it stopped me from falling for the 4C .. which would have probably resulted in a very short ownership, same like the Elise.
sad to see the C4 go, and the memories will always be there, good ones. And now we all move on to the F-type, to accompany you on your journey, creating new and exiting memories, for some of us, it is like watching a daydream, exiting and exhilarating. We all can only thank you for sharing.
Whats interesting is that the 4C was probably the best car to get your channel up and rolling. But ofcourse its your charm that kept the viewers coming back. The 4C had its place but now its time for another experience. Congrats on your new Jag. You just moved from one of my favorite brands to another of my favorite brands.
Totally understand why you changed it for the Jaguar. And I think we all know what it's like when a car you love vets damaged, it does taint it a little. I still think for all its faults the 4C is the cooler car. In years to come it will be so rare and desirable. But yeah! The Jag is obviously fantastic.
it's refreshing to hear an genuine appraisal of this car. I think your feelings of it will help anyone who is researching affordable super cars, cheers man! I'd buy it definitely.
I'm sad that the little alfa is gone :(. But I can understand the reason you did it. Your new f-type is a loud and killing maniac, such a cool car! Congrats and have fun with it!
It's amazing how quickly your opinion can change about a car. My very first car was a 1996 Integra, I loved that thing. It got broken into and my radio stolen. I felt so violated that I sold it a few months later. Enjoy the F type!
I find it weird why everyone is criticising him for selling of the 4C and getting the F-Type. He clearly said that he always wanted to the F-Type and one of the reason he bought the 4C is because it was cheaper. I know you guys like the 4C and so on but just because it is not his default favourite, you guys berate him for it. How about you guys earn the cash to buy your favourite car instead of berating him?
I couldn't agree with you more when you say that a beloved car's luster, which often makes up for its practical shortcomings, quickly fades after bearing the brunt of an accident. As you say in your video, the 4C is a great car in its own right, but it's nice to see that you were able to replace it with a car that happened to be the one you've always wanted: the F-Type.
This is quickly becoming my favourite automotive channel!! No doubt the 4c is a future classic but if it doesn't fit into your life you made that best decision!
You're spot on at the start... if this is a weekend car, no brainer, but as a daily? no thanks. I went to the alfa dealer and sat in it and went for a test drive, I was like, this car is amazing, but I can't live with this everyday.
I don't know why someone would think to have this as a daily driver. I'm thinking of getting one next year to replace my Z4MR but I'm not totally sold on it due to it being even more impractical that the BMW. But I do have another car that is more practical that I drive more often.
+mk2mister2 because most people can't afford to have 2 cars, or can't justify having 2 cars. And some like me, who can afford it, but there are so many great cars out there, which satisfy all your performance and comfort needs, there's really no need to have a "weekend" car anymore.
+EAP No guarantees the 4C will appreciate. The car market is so volatile and I didn't want to sit around too scared to drive the Alfa because I didnt want to put miles on incase it eventually appreciated. Agree its much more unique but I enjoy driving too much to worry about my car being an investment
@@eap2986 it also has a carbon fibre monocoque. These are not cheap and are not common. The car probably won't dip below current values and will likely just go up from here on. Honestly the 4c won't lose value. Like everyone else said there's a million jags and they don't tend to hold value when they are that common
Screw everyone talking you down. Yes I love the 4C more, but it's your choice in what you want to drive as a daily and I respect that. Love the new jag!
Been there with an Elise I ran for 2 years - now run an M Sport 1 series and love the usability of it ... Forever will miss my Elise though, but you've done the right thing
Sam I had the same issue with my last car. I loved it so much, and then things started breaking, parts started malfunctioning, I noticed every little rock chip in the paint. Eventually the engine blew, and I picked up a new MX5 which is what I originally wanted!
In a selfish way, I'm alright with this. You owned it for about a year building up to my purchase, giving me a lot of confidence in the vehicle so I didn't feel as blind about purchasing a car I wasn't able to test drive. All the reasons you're getting rid of it are things I'm perfectly comfortable with, and we'll have to agree to disagree on that jag exhaust sound. Thanks for a years worth of test-drives if you will
Judging by how you were reacting to your drive down to Monoco in the F-type, I think made made the right decision. Can't wait to see your adventures in the Jag. Best of luck.
I think the reaction to the damage is a defence mechanism. it's hard to deal with what has happened so you start to distance yourself from it and think of reasons why it isn't as bad as you feel it is.
If I was given a choice between the 4C or the Jag, I would take the Jag as well. It fits my personality and driving style better. Its a fact that the Jag is the better car here. Looks better, more comfortable, better equipped and a better daily driver so I completely understand why you changed. Also, if I may request, I would love to see a farewell montage video for the 4C! With highlights, music and all!
I totally understand your misgivings about giving up this car, but sometimes we have to make decisions based on logic instead of passion and Alfas are firmly ensconced in passion. Once you've owned an Alfa, regardless of the love hate relationship we tend to have with them, they tend to always linger in your heart and you forever regret it when they're no longer in your life. So, with that said, my condolences bud! :(
this channel is growing so fast, it's awesome to see and is more than deserved. Are your videos monetised yet? I don't recall ever having an advert on your channel.
This is the best ad for Alfa. Reasons to sell The Alfa 4c : 1. The noise - its bloody noisy - Great sound 2. Its looks ridiculously good that you need to think twice where to park it because people will envy you. 3. This car is SO MUCH fun! 4. Its difficult to park - Just like Ferraris, Lamborghinis and all other supercars. 5. As a daily driver is a bit silly - Its not the cars fault mate - i mean how many Ferrari owners do you know that drive their kids to school every day with their Ferrari? 6. This thing is so cool that you have strangers coming up to you and telling how cool is this car - The amount of attention you get is outrageous. This is because its an Alfa and Alfa are unique! Lets see how many people are going to stop you in the middle of the street when you drive the Jag. 7. Its so much fun! If those reasons weren't enough then you should get an Alfa 4c!
Sam it is obvious how much you really love and enjoy your cars and I absolutely understand and share your passion. I dread to think what state you will be in if anything happens to the Jaguar!
The precise reasons you outline - I am so glad I went and bought a Porsche Cayman, I tried the Alfa 4C - it is a great car dynamically but practicality day to day, my musings about the 4C even weekend to weekend have come to fruition. Enjoy the F-Type it is clearly an animal. For all of the people below ridiculing you, all i will say is: you likes what you likes and you pay your money, for your own reasons you loved the 4C and you got it, most people wouldnt have the minerals or the financials in place to do it besides. Good on you @seenthroughglass
I think you made the right choice, if you've got to the point where you're not enjoying the car anymore, then it's time to go, plus the F-Type looks & sounds lovely :)
Hi man, You're video made me smile as you are going throught the exact same process I went a few years ago, when after one year, I decided to sell my Lotus Elise. You are wondering if you're going to regret it? ABSOLUTELY! I never drove the 4C, but for all the comparison with the elise, the spirit is the same (fun before anything else), so yes I can understand. My mistake back then was to have it as my everyday car (not rich enough to get a second one). And to be honest, had I bought a cheap car as my everyday car, I'm not even sure I would have used it at all when facing the choice of drive the cheap stuff, versus the "all hell breaks looses fun car" the Elise is... But anyway, truth is both the Elise and the 4c should be owned by richer man than I was, that can afford 2 outstanding cars; One for everyday driving, and one for the pure fun. What I did really wrong thou, is that I should have stick with it 2 more years, time required to fully pay it, and then buy another great car for my everyday use. I know one day I will definitly buy another one as my second car because honestly, I drove many cars on circuits, and NOTHING compares to a lotus (elise or exige) in terms of pure racing sensations and fun. Forget Porche, forget most Ferraris (except the f40 maybe). They are powerfull and fun street cars. But not RACING cars. And lactly, if I was to get a second car just for the fun of driving, I'd personnaly go for the Elise again. Yes it is more extreme than the 4C, but sionce its goal would be to give me the purest driving experience and fun, it is still way ahead of the 4c (and it is convertible). Cheers mate!
Nice video mate. Thanks for sharing your heart felt thoughts on why you moved on. Was discussing the 4C with an alfa loving mate and we're both wondering if it actually will become a future classic, or if it will just become the new GTV and drop it's value like a stone. If it's the latter, I'll pick one up in about 20 years ;)
@@TempeMax Yep I tried to tell my mate (Sorry this is Chris Winter under my other channel name). I knew they wouldn't drop like the GTV did. They weren't made in the same numbers for a start.
I agree with you, as an italian i love alfas but if you live in a busy city like london maybe that car is not the best choice for you is like having a lion in a cage, she's born for roaring down on highways or mountain roads full of curves not for being struck in traffic jams
Got as far as ‘can’t blog …’ and thought ‘yep’ … that nails it for me Sam - Alfa didn’t build the car for ‘bloggers’, they built it for drivers. My buddy Sophie has the F-type R, you should talk to her … x
too bad it's gone, yours was the first 4c I saw on the public roads. At Springevent last year, loved it. But the F-type is also an amazing car and damn crackles tho
Smart move. Looks great. Handles great (above 15mph). Has lots of Alfa charm... but... falls short in so many respects. At least you've got some nice memories to fall back on as you enjoy a more sensible ride.
I get it....the bottom line to answer your headline is...........it is an Alfa. In reading the other comments, I agree with some but, if you are like me, you value quality and reliability as much as the timeless quality of a thing. I am quite happy with my Audi S3.......reliable, quick, not a looker, and not to much money, all things considered.
I don't think the 4C should of been brought to market.. The more I look into it and the more people talk about their experience with it, it just seems like a silly track car. I have no idea how sales are with this thing but I bet they are very low.
+Davide Virdis Oh yes it is ! I drove one for 1500km and I can tell you it's noisy : the carbon fiber cell is resonating everything. I'm a real car guy, but at some point it was to noisy for me... And then you go on mountain roads, use the car properly and you really want to keep it all your life because it's so much fun. Not perfect, but really attractive
+Davide Virdis Yes he is? He bought an F-Type which LOUDER than the 4C. He means it's too loud in the cabin, like road noise/tyre roar which can get really tiring and monotonous when you're on a long journey.
For what it's worth, given the same opportunity I would have done the exact same thing! I think the 4C is great but the F-Type is definitely my ultimate dream car! (And yes, my pic is me sitting in a 2016 F-Type R-AWD Coupe in Italian Racing Red).
Say what you will, but 4C is just more special than F-Type. In car events F-Type is just, meh... a car - a good car, but nothing really to write home about, while the 4C - well it doesn't matter that it doesn't cost that much in relative terms, it's still a proper supercar and will always catch the attention of car enthusiasts. It's like comparing Toyota Supra to late 90s Porsche Boxer, I'am referring here to Jag and entry Porsche as being 'generic, casual sports cars' - those are of course very distant cars with very different characteristics, but you get my point.
Why you sold it? Because you have money to waste, and for sure this car is not made for you, but for people who understand what is the pure driving of a sport car. Noise??? Where is the noise? I only hear great sound. Did you think that that 4c was a comfortable everyday car???
The F-type has so much more balls, and although the Alfa is great looking and Carbon fiber, the F-TYPE IS ONE OF THE BEST SOUNDING SPORTS CARS EVER! I don't blame you m8.
How many miles DID you put on it in 6 mos? I bought a 2015 500 Sport and put 30,500 miles on it in 10 months. Traded it for an Abarth and don't regret one second.
Ive seen f types... I ve seen them frequently as well. But in the real world ive never seen a 4c in my opinion its the most special car you can buy in the mid range
All your reasons are perfectly understandable. And all of them could easily been understood way before buying it. Of course you can't have a 4c as a daily driver. In such a way it is much more expensive than a F-Type (which is a sportscar, not a supercar, though "mini'', like the Alfa): if you buy it you gotta add the money for a daily if you don't have it. You don't with the jag
The F-type R is a great choice. But I don't see it as being that different to own. Except it might not be as low to the ground as your 4c. For a daily driver I would have chosen a 911 or BMW M4. They "blend-in" more...if you're worried about parking your car. Some cars I wouldn't park either (e.g. Ferrari 488 GTB). :) Congrats on the new car though!
i love both cars the only part i find funny is about the daily factor you traded in a 4 cylinder turbo for a v8 supercharged haha! congrats on your car i love the jag

Selling the 4C for an F-Type is like dumping a gorgeous model because she is too loud in bed for a girl who can cook and will fold your washed pants.

Make a montage video of the start when you bought the car to the day you sold it I think that that would be a great sendoff for the car. :)
Alfa 4C 2-Jaguar F Type 0. The 4C is more appealing
The background music is too loud:(
If I was given a choice between the 4C or the Jag, I would take the Jag as well.
Reasons to sell The Alfa 4c :
1. The noise - its bloody noisy - Great sound
I'm going to miss the baby supercar, but can't wait for the adventures with the your new BEAST!!!
Sad to see the 4c go but the f-type looks incredible, I hope you enjoy the trip down to Monaco 😊
The F-type is the right choice. But the real right choice is the F-type with the manual transmission.
so sad to see her go, but the F-Type is a true dreamcar for me as well!!! congrats on the F-Type sam!!!!
Personally I would have kept the 4c but it's your decision
If it's the latter, I'll pick one up in about 20 years ;)
After 6 years you Alpha e the answer….the 4c price are going up as rockets
@@TempeMax Yep I tried to tell my mate (Sorry this is Chris Winter under my other channel name). I knew they wouldn't drop like the GTV did. They weren't made in the same numbers for a start.
good point, but F Type is 3.0L. Is it comparable? Not to sure….
Sam I 100% understand why you've gotten the Jag, I'll always associate you with the little 4c :)
Sad to see that the 4c is no longer the stg car but still glad you bought an f type cause it suits the way you use it
Did you film the collection of the Jaguar?
Awwwww... Still excited for new videos with the f type, congrats man!
It's not easy to daily drive a 4C.. In fact, it's crazy to daily drive a 4C.
too bad it's gone, yours was the first 4c I saw on the public roads. At Springevent last year, loved it. But the F-type is also an amazing car and damn crackles tho
as a daily the f-type does make more sense. I won't have a problem with it as long as there is a propper drift in the forseeable future ;)
Should have kept it. The Jag is amazing, but so was that beautifully uncommon Alfa.
How come the videos are no longer 60fps?
I don't think the 4C should of been brought to market.. The more I look into it and the more people talk about their experience with it, it just seems like a silly track car. I have no idea how sales are with this thing but I bet they are very low.
it's to noisey? dude your're not a car enthusiast
He's talking about the road and wind noise not engine or exhaust noise.
+Davide Virdis Yes he is? He bought an F-Type which LOUDER than the 4C. He means it's too loud in the cabin, like road noise/tyre roar which can get really tiring and monotonous when you're on a long journey.
+Davide Virdis There's a difference between noisey when you put your foot down and constant drone and wind noise when you're cruising on the highway.
wrong decision
oh man you make me cry I,m happy for you buying your dream F-Type really feel bad for the 4C
you made the right move. the f has longevity and all same attention and can keep up with your rich buddies. 4c is just an elise tbh
Six years later, wonder how Sam feels about the 4c now?
YOU don't understand what Alfa is :sport and emotions
glad you went with the jag!
So many owners sell so quickly and resale pricing us very attractive these day...for low mileage examples...thanks for insights
Thanks for sharing your thoughts in the video. Sam!
The 4c was a great experience. Time to move onto your dream car F type'.
I'm getting the Giulia in 2016. 4C is good car but just not an everyday car. I agree with you.
Pretty much the same reasons why I sold the Elise...
And now he's got a 540c, good on you man!
Growing up real quick. 40k subs, congrats!
Have you regretted selling it yet?
The F-type R is a great choice. But I don't see it as being that different to own. Except it might not be as low to the ground as your 4c. For a daily driver I would have chosen a 911 or BMW M4. They "blend-in" more...if you're worried about parking your car. Some cars I wouldn't park either (e.g. Ferrari 488 GTB). :) Congrats on the new car though!
The f type is a big step up, I think you made he right decision 👍
Sam is the Red Crew, Shmee is the Blue Crew, and Paul is the baby blue/grey/white all over the place Crew
i love both cars the only part i find funny is about the daily factor you traded in a 4 cylinder turbo for a v8 supercharged haha! congrats on your car i love the jag
