- The postdoctoral fellowship is a period of 1-3 years which is undertaken by a doctoral program, doctorate, PhD or doctor of philosophy degree holder after completing his or her graduate degree to further improve his research and academic credentials in the CV. This video addresses the hypothesis that the postdoctoral research stint or postdoctoral research fellowship is a waste of time, propounded by some on TH-cam.

Thank you for these interesting and valuable tips.
Postdoctoral is a launch pad for higher credentials in academia. Moreover if one do in developed country then we can also saved a very good amount. Once PDF is done there is a high rate of getting job into good university or in industry as well.
Very true
Pronam neben Sir...🙏🙏
It is all about paper publications=tenureship/professorship=more government research grants= money trickling into university's coffer
and not about reproducibility in science.
Well research is now pretty much an industry in itself. But most researchers to do good research. You are right about the increase or mistakes and fraud in research. I address this in my video here:

Thank you sir 🙏☺
I agree with this video 👍🏻
Thank you
It’s not a waste of time, but you are much better off applying for full time faculty jobs or jobs in the industry.
Universities will no longer hire you as faculty with your PhD alone. They want to see at least 2 postdocs before even considering you 😕.
@@danderas6377 I got a full-time faculty position offer without having prior work experience.
In most cases yes. In some cases (1 in 10) it leads to permanent positions.
Yes, true
Hi Sir,
Thanks for very informative video.
Having pharma industry experience with good record of publications will help postdoc to grab a job in US?
Yes it is always possible
@@Drganguli Thanks Sir. I am from India working in Lupin Ltd. I worked as a Medical advisor and Product Manager. I have published 5 articles in clinical research while working in Industry.
I am looking for the entry in US job market. Hope postdoc will open the doors for it.
now ther r redundant colleges, univ, education, Redundant graduates. PDF is a gig job.
HAd niche in post WW-2 for 2-3 decades. It helped highly deeply, narrwly trianed grads to do most RES work at LOW pay.
Now no such situation exists, as industrial JOBS r not avaialbe.
with 8100 millions on Earth , Life is compettitve
nd post doc is for few who does not need future support to earn from thier work
ie has MONIES parental/Spousal support for family survival ( and can invovle in REserch explarations)
Yes, postdoc should be done after much thought but still there are many people who aspire to do it. As you say the world has a lot of people and some do have a PhD with the need for the next job
What about PhD from premiere institute of India like IISER,IISc who want a career in industry only (in Pharma industry)? Does a post doc give any value to their cv?
Only if they feel they can benefit from new skills in a new area of research or want to write some papers to strengthen their cv. Most research minded companies too like to see a paper or two from the PhD to quantify the work done.
