Before anyone posts a comment critiquing my riding style please know that this was my friend's dad's bike and so I didn't want to crash it and I wasn't used to the way it felt. If you want to critique me watch my other videos where I ride my own bike which is a two stroke by the way.

I remember my first time riding a 2 stroke. The power band just felt so unnatural compared to 4 strokes, and it gives you nothing but then gives you everything! Super addicting. If you ever get into sport bikes, then you can really experience what a true power band can feel like. CHEeeeAAAAAAAAAHHH!

    • @alanjm1234

250's, especially the YZ250, don't really have a powerband like a 125. If it's running it's making power! And plenty of it! The response of a 250 two stroke is like nothing else. Twist the wrist a little and the bike just leaps forward.

@@roytoersen4801 that depends, I would for sure keep up things like oil changes and just regular maintanance but yeah compared to 2 strokes 4 strokes don't need nearly as much maintanance. I rode and raced 2 strokes for many years going back to the early 1970's. The 4 stroke mandate came years after I quit riding so never got to experience a 4 stroke moto-cross bike. But having ridden many 4 strokes I know they have power but the fact they are almost like hitting the brakes when you back off the throttle as opposed to a 2 stroke that pretty much keeps going I figured it must have taken a good learning curve for those serious riders when they had to switch over. You spent your formative years and [whatever age you were when the switch happened] riding 2 strokes. It would almost be like if they suddenly put the basketball rim 5 feet higher. Even if you never could dunk you still have spent your life shooting at a 10' rim. And I miss hearing that zing-pop-pop-pop of 2 stroke MX.

When I was 16, I bought a highly modified CZ Jawa 400 2 stroke, you would have crapped your pants trying to ride that. We are talking 0-80 as fast as you could shift the 4-speed transmission. My friends all wanted to try riding it and I told them if you can handle riding with me driving, no problem. No one ever did. Even my father would not ride it after trying to one time. Basically, I rode it standing on the pegs with my quads resting on the handlebars to keep the front wheel close enough to the ground to steer it.

Its a shame 2 strokes are a dying breed. It's all 4 strokes nowadays. Not hating on them but nothing like a 2 stroke. Staying in that power band the sound and smell. Brings back memories just thinking about it.

I have a 450 f and a yz 250 plus a 250f. 450 and 2502t about the same power, but totally different. Two stroke a bit more touchy but yet easier to put precise power to the ground noticed on technical riding, plus 2t much lighter bike. 250f actually prob my fave though. Not on a hill climbing day though.

@@ElonMuskX Hondas and kawasakis have very noisy powervalves. why? I'm not quite sure. but listen to a early air cooled cr with no powervalves then a liquid cooled one with. The difference is clear. It works by spiinning up a gear and centrifugal force pushes a lever to fight the power valve springs, it's a little bit of a buzz because there's very little pre load on that spring, so it takes up the slack starts compressing the spring then it's too much and bogs down the mech. this makes sense to me and seems to be the general concensus. cleaning the powervalves and lubing them can help.
