I don't really see however, how that would work when lowered into the whale instead of just taking a daily dose by mouth (usually in the form of cod liver oil, said to have tasted terrible - the past really was the worst). Maybe the concentration is high enough that it somewhat absorbs through the skin?

Simon, I feel like an absolute idiot for not looking it up before but it blew my mind when you said they were molasses treats. I read treacle for the first time in Harry Potter, living in the US i never knew what it was I just assumed it was a sweet treat in the UK and just left it at that. There’s something to be said for traditional medicine- many of our commonly used medications today are stolen indigenous remedies. And the Amazon rainforest is considered the best place to look for new medicines. That said they definitely shouldn’t be consumed before scientific research is done on them.
