Hello hello, I hope you enjoyed the video - would you be interested in seeing more Polaroid photography videos in the future? I will be experimenting with double (or more) exposures. So, if you‘d like I can document that process and make a video on that too :)) Much love to Polaroid for giving me this wonderful opportunity, thank you so much! If you want to read more about the camera you can check it out here: bit.ly/46P7RpR Have a great week, Teo
Teo, yes please. Love the video I am also, just getting into the instant medium using both instax and Polaroid and going through the same learning curve you showed Thanks Andrew in Ottawa Canada 🇨🇦
apart from your beautiful work in not only the photos but the video shots, editing and story telling, i must say i am amazed by where you live. its like heaven in alps. austria is such a beautiful country.
I think it was genius of Polaroid to work with you! I enjoy the trial and error you walk us through as you learn a new medium. It's the most appealing Polaroid video I've seen, as far as making me personally want to try it. I noticed you've been using more Korean music in your recent videos and I like your taste in music. Works so well with your videos!
Brilliant video, and delighted that you took the time to learn how the I-2 worked, what settings it responds to for each unique situation, and this is shown in your results!! Arguably the best and fairest I-2 review I have seen.
Your videos are stunning! They make me inspired and relaxed all at once. I love watching your videos in between college classes to help me relax and enjoy life!
What a wonderful heartwarming video, I recently got a instax mini for cheap money from ebay and I really enjoy how it makes you think so much more about your shots. But it also makes you appreciate every shot you do so much more. I bought a disposable analog camera and will try that medium now as well :) thanks for your content Teo! It's really really helpful and just a delight to look at
Thanks for doing this man! I was interested in buying the I2 but have seen some mixed reviews. Just got my first Polaroid Cam (sourced a brand new onestep2 VF in 2023 lol) and look forward to adding this to my arsenal. Big fan of Andrei Tarkovsky here btw!! did NOT know he worked with Polaroid film too!! This makes me feel like I just landed on the right format for myself out of sheer luck (I really like the dreamy vibe of the photos, the random noise and also notice a random noise gradient in some pictures too! Mad interesting tbh). Can't wait to try to get the Stalker greens in my shots... (Love that movie 😌)
I have a small collection of film cameras that I love. I got a Polaroid Now thinking of it as a toy, and needless to say, 4 months after and I’m in love with it and using it almost exclusively. I need more control over the settings though. Might get an I-2 ❤
I subscribed to your channel from when you were at a few hundred subscribers. To see your channel grow so much is really mind blowing. I loved all your contents and thank you for always uploading these inspirational videos for us.
I’ve been curious about Polaroids but never went through. You’ve definitely inspired me to give it a go! The trial and error is inevitable but it’ll add its charm and eventually be polished
Next project should be jumping into the short film world and trying to create a short film out in that beautiful scenery, your shots in the video were beautifulllll
Just discovered your channel and being a old (meaning long time ago 😊and age wise not so young) 35mm b/w photography lover I enjoyed your videos a lot. I do love Polaroid photography and own a foldable camera I received from my dad before his death. The sx 70 folding Polaroid camera Thank you for your style of presentation and the way you teach new tricks to photo lovers. Greetings from Belgium 🇧🇪
Been a fan of Polaroid instant photography for decades having bought my first camera back in the late 70’s. Looking at the new I-2 but the reviews and photo results have been rather disappointing until this review. I now think it’s a matter of people learning to use the manual controls on what was formerly just a point and shoot camera. Your results are more than satisfactory for Polaroid and actually show the full potential of what a manually controlled camera can accomplish. Great review
Excellent exploration of the necessity for exposure compensation using Polaroids. Many people who use the Now+ and the I-2 complain that the camera over exposes or under exposes the film, thinking there is a fault in the camera design. But they don't really understand how the limited dynamic range impacts exposure. Folks who never shot with film may find this baffling. After all, automatic mode should figure this out for the photographer, right? Not quite right. The light meter takes an average reading of the scene, but the photographer must use her or his mind to think about the light and the shadows and adjust accordingly. I think this is why the exposure compensation dial is so prominent on the camera. The Now+ is more tricky to use. One has to hold the flash button down to over or under expose a stop, but that said it does work. Your systematic approach is great advice. One wonders if digital shooters can ultimately make sense of what needed to achieve consistent exposures. Good luck!
There is in fact a design issue with the i2s auto exposure that’s made public now. It’s based on the wrong iso and over exposes. A firmware update is coming soon to correct this. It’s still true that current Polaroid film has very limited dynamic range making accurate exposure absolutely necessary for good pictures.
I’m impressed by the level of consistency that you finally reached. I’ve burned through 3 plus packs of film already with very mixed results. Just when I thought I figured out its tendencies, it throws me for a curve. Can I ask, are you shooting on automatic solely with EV adjustments, or using manual mode and hand metering? Any video that you could make with tips would be mightily appreciated! So far your video is probably the best I’ve seen for this camera.
Polaroids were my way into Film Photography, back in 2019. So glad to see you love it as well. Polaroids can be temperamental sometimes, but they shine their best after being cooled inna fridge!
@@teocrawford yeah, I started with a Polaroid Impulse and eventually got a couple of SX-70s! And even a Spectra (rip)! Polaroids have improved soooo much!
I absolutely loved this video, especially the cinematic style of it in the first few minutes of the video :) and, great job with the polariods!!! Absolutely stunning !!!
Thanks for this video. The exposure trouble you are having is not the film, its the i2. Surprisingly my 680SLR, and completely un-restored sx70 is far more consistent than my i2, nearly all shots properly exposed with the vintage cameras. Less than half with the i2 are. Heck even the cheap modern Polaroid go is consistent. You can manually meter with an external meter and put the i2 in manual, but that's annoying, especially when a 40 year old Polaroid is more consistent.
It’s recently come to public knowledge that the i2 auto exposure is based on the wrong iso resulting in over exposure. A firmware update is being offered soon to correct this.
I’d say start getting closer with your self portraits. They do look great though, I shoot self portraits with my Yashica D TLR since it has a self timer and I love it
Really enjoyed this video Teo. I have just had an I-2 delivered and found your views on the camera very informative. I have high hopes for the I-2, but understand you have to work at getting good Polaroids. In regard of light metering, I presume you use a hand meter when shooting manual? And how accurate did you find the camera’s own meter?
When you get up to the 10min mark, and you are taking us around for the self portraits and landscape photos, are you still using auto focus or have you switched over to manual completely at this point? Are you metering everything first?
These are the best I-2 photographs I’ve seen on TH-cam, bar none. You really got a good grasp of how to properly expose this camera, something I’m still struggling with. What sort of d posture guidelines did you end up using in the last batch of photos w/o the inscriptions?
Hi Teo, i come across your channel few months ago and i just think that I've found a hidden gem and been enjoying your channel since then, you're my new inspiration when it comes to photography 🤍 Quick question tho, can we have a playlist of songs you used for your vids?
As I'm sure everyone else is saying, your work as always in top quality. Was looking forward to this one since you shared your story on receiving this camera.
i love square polaroid. i have an old polaroid impulse camera from my grandma and i love the look of the pictures. its pretty old and the image quality is pretty bad, the contrasts dont really come through at all anymore, but i love shooting with it still. only contra is the price of the film, 2€ per picture hurts my soul lmao
@@kennethmargulies407 Have they made more than one new film? I know about the new black and white one, did they also make a new color one? (Not a huge fan of black and white.)
@@just_eirik Yes, recent Polaroid color films have improved in terms of stability and color quality. The latest color films are designed to offer more vibrant colors, better contrast, and more consistent exposure compared to earlier versions. They’ve also made efforts to reduce issues like fading and shifts in color over time, which had been concerns with older Polaroid films. As for their duochrome films, Polaroid has released several special duochrome editions, which feature two-tone color schemes, like black and yellow or black and pink. These films provide a distinct, artistic look and are highly popular for their bold, contrasting effects. Duochrome films aren’t meant to capture natural colors but are a creative alternative for more abstract or stylized photography.
I have to say I'm impressed by what you were able to capture on your polaroid but I still can't help but feel disappointed by the dynamic range, colors and lack of sharpness for the price you pay.. I just can't like polaroids. I'd like to hear your take on this

The i2 certainly isn't the best polaroid ever, the reflex ones (sx/slr) were, and polaroid 600 film still remains to be revived to its former potential/quality.
Thanks, nice video. No matter what the camera is like, the film is inferior. Terrible colours, low resolution and no dynamic range. For me, much too expensive for fun pics and too bulky to carry around. What about eco impact? I know that in the past, they only could have come from the USA, with the disposable toxic batteries and chemicals and cassettes. It is not the camera, but the system I have my doubts of.
WHY ONE EARTH would anyone pay $600 for this when Fujifilm instant cameras crush it for a third of the price?!?! Get over the nostalgia and admit that the i 2 photos are absolute s**t. Polaroid should be ashamed of themselves; and anyone who actually falls for this hype should be embarrassed.
