i LOVE the shot of the group of freinds where the one guy noticed you, its kinda magical in the way that he stopped his moment for the photo and he is also smiling in a way that makes you think hes in on a joke just him and the photographer understand whereas the rest of the scene moves naturally, its an incredible shot!

This Japan trip has really triggered a different kind of photography more open towards the human element in the frame - I hope you are bringing this back to other locations (Vienna/Austria). Great work, wonderful shots and wonderful narration with them. Thoroughly enjoyed this video!
And yes, the film is just plain old Kodak Vision with the remjet layer removed - just like Cinestill.

Loved these photos so much! It's interesting how these images where the eye sneak into an interior space (from outside), gazing at someone, almost always render great results (to me, at least); definitely took note of that for future experiments.

Honestly I wouldn’t particularly recommend buying film in Japan, except you‘re looking for lesser known films and have the time to go look for it😅
I had a hard time buying Fujifilm because of Fuji‘s production issues. All the big shops were sold out and only had Kodak, which however in Japan is pretty expensive.
But if you want to try something lesser known you could check out Lemon Camera in Shinjuku. This film I bought in Champ Camera, which however is not located in Tokyo👀

I was thinking about starting getting into film, and randomly came across your video. Then I was surprised to suddenly see the town where I grew up. Nothing has changed there. It's been a few years that I'm away from there, living in a country that nothing is like Japan. Oh and great photos too haha. I was wondering if there is any way to reduce the grain in the dark parts of the photo? and what camera do you suggest for a complete beginner? thanks

New viewer, but any Australia trip plans? We're an extremely diverse continent, so more than enough moods to capture!
From the skyscrapers and laneways of our big cities, to the snowy tall rainforests & peaks of Tasmania; the nostalgic bubbling hillsides of river red gums to the waterfalls of Kakadu

    Hello
    These photos are beautiful!
This is the first vidéo of yours I have watched, so maybe you mentioned this already, but where do you develop your film in the tokyo area?
Im a phototgrapher studying abroad in Tokyo in the Spring and this vidéo has inspired me to consider bringing my k1000
It was my dad's first camera and mine as well, such a great reliable machine so I it makes sense to bring it.
    What do you think?

Hi men, love your work and night photos they just hits different. I got a question regarding how do you deal with apperture in this situations, i mean I always missfocus when I shot at less than f 5.6 but you seems to manage it very nice and always hace a totally focused photos. do you just shot the photos at 1/60 in order to obtain a totally focus image at f 8 or 11? or do you open at f/2 at 1/250? Thank you in advance! Sorry for my english 😁

From the light meter (and the depth of field) it seems the aperture is pretty wide - f/2-f/2.8. The K1000 has a focus screen, so I guess focusing may be a bit easier than on a digital camera, but it still surely requires a lot of practice and luck.

@@dominik.zemanek.97 Well noted man! I shoot my photos with a nikon FM (50mm f/2 and 20mm f3.5 lenses ), but always when I open the apperture I always missfocus, so I disregard a possible damage on the camera. Do you know a way for obtaing higher chances of obtain more focused images on this wider appertures ? again, thanks for your feedback.

@@orfer098 I honestly know next to nothing about this topic, but if the picture seems in focus in the viewfinder but not in the photos, then there must be something wrong inside the camera - between the lens and your eye - maybe the mirror angle needs an adjustment. If it's not about back / front focusing but about the whole image being blurry at wider apertures (aberration), then perhaps it's the lenses.

Beautiful Video as usual. Do you know how the Laws concerning street photograhy are in Japan? The people always seem so chill, I´m having a hard time taking pictures of people here in Germany especially when they are facing me.

    Hello, Teo! Love your content:)
    I had 2 questions!
    1) Photos that you put in the video: where is it possible to find them? There are severall shots i really wanted to save in good quality! But they are not on the prints website 😅
    2) I know you're half Japanese and grew up sneaking it: i wanted to ask- how does it feel to speak this language as a primary language in the environment? Does it feel comfortable? Did it take getting used to? Just curious:)
    Have a great day!

Hello. I'm just getting back into film photography after a break of about 20 years. I like that you use the K1000. It was one of my first cameras. Now I've bought an Asahi Pentax SV, a camera that predates internal light metering. I'm shooting my first roll of ASA200 Kodak color film and guess-timating exposures, keeping a record of frame, aperture and shutter speed, so I can see later this month when it's developed where I was off and by how much. I would be very interested in how you set your exposures at night so as to balance adequate brightness, depth of field and action-stopping shutter speed. At least as a starting point. (1/60th at f5.6?) Did you rely on the light meter at all? I noticed you were constantly adjusting the shutter speed. Aperture, too? Did you shoot the film at its rated speed? Have you looked at the SV?
