I’ll always adore this movie. It has its flaws like everything, but I think it is truly beautiful!!! This film captures the essence of Phantom of the Opera in all its raw, ugly yet decadent glory. I love it so much!
Nope, all sets. Built on the Pinewood lot and stages. I think they even used the infamous Bond Stage for the Phantom’s lair (that stage is well suited for water work!)
Loved this movie so much! I know a lot of people nitpicked on Gerard's singing but I thought he did a fabulous job. I was engaged from the start. Movie made me cry. It was done so well IMO. Gerard did his own take on who the Phantom is. It's my favorite musical of all time. I'm not a vocal coach. I don't know anything about pitch, rhythm, etc but I thought he committed very well.
The way every set they built is GORGEOUS. Joel Schumacher had a vision, and the film's incredible team worked hard to make it come to fruition. I am still amazed at the quality of the film 20 years later!
@@kallen868interesting most go straight for Butler when it comes to bad singing in those! 😂 TBH I think Butler was pretty good, no Ewan McGregor (who’s voiced surprised me in Moulin Rouge!) but not as bad a Minnie Driver! 😂
@@arghjayem I've seen this show six times on stage and heard some amazing Phantoms including Colm Wilkinson. As far a Butler goes... I liked him. I thought he got a lot of unwarranted hate.
Sorry, Butler was terrible. I mean, listen to the clip at 2:10. He’s trying to make up for the fact that he cannot really sing with hisses and talk/singing.
My favourite movie❤️🥀 Everything was amazing - music, singing, dancing perfect! Also when they cast Gerald Butler as the main singer and protagonist,he said in a interview that when they auditioned him, he asked if he was capable to do this bc he knew this was high level of singing and they said him yes you are capable and it needs a lot of work and he has done it so well!❤️ So a great tone of applause to actors who have to work and train so well to do their tiny weaknesses to strength! 🎭 From Phantom of the Opera to 300 that is Massive
The Pantages Therater in Toronto was built for the Phantom of the Opera specifically which ran for many years. I went several times to see it. A beautiful bldg. Mr Butler was made a singer for this movie only and he did a marvelous job. I loved it all.
I got to see Colm Wilkinson at the Pantages... it's said that theatre had the fastest most intense chandelier drop. The whole thing was an amazing experience.
My main design issue was a lighting one. The title song in the catacombs was filmed with warm golden hues not the cold blue look from the Broadway production.Even with the candle light it still should have reflected a dank chilly feeling. Other than that it was a gorgeous film.
Maybe because the catacombs are underground and using cold blue lighting might’ve made it a bit hard to see? They possibly used warm golden hues to light up the set a big so that way we as the audience could see everything, and so that way the actors in the scene could see what they were doing. Doing a production on stage is a bit different from doing a movie production even if it’s of the same work piece like Phantom Of The Opera.
The scenery in this movie was excellent. The stage show would of liked these. I thought the singing was great. No one is perfect. The actors and actresses are people too.

Your amazing for saying that❤❤❤❤
I'm amazed that the theater was actually a set, I'd totally assumed they just rented a theater for a month or so to shoot those scenes. 😮

Idk about fabulous but it was passable and to his credit he was not autotuned, but he wasn’t great to listen to either.
I really liked him. He gave it a bit of a rock edge. With all due respect to him I was not on that "He's not Michael Crawford" bandwagon.
@@kallen868 I know me 2. Bring your own "thing," to the character :)
@@cecilyerker Strangely enough I enjoyed his voice. A vocal coach said with more training he'd be really good. :)

This movie’s singing could have been a lot better, but you can’t knock the perfect job the set designers and costumers did.
The only singing I was truly disappointed in was Minnie Driver who was dubbed. She was very humorous but totally miscast as an Italian opera diva.

Don’t hate on Emma and Patrick singing. They been trained, yet Emma has the most experienced as a trained soprano.
Fantastic job and fantastic movie
SO UPSET THAT ALL OF THESE SETS NO LONGER EXIST. WOULD LOVE TO HAVE A TOUR OF THE SETS.
I just love those scences and cast performing Masquerade
SENSACIONAL MARAVILHA ❤👏👏👏👏👏🇧🇷

I Love The The Phantom Of The Opera
This movie has its flaws, but you can't deny that the set design, production and costumes were absolutely STUNNING!
From 6:21 to 6:54 that has to be Gerards real raw voice without the enhancements they had to work on
My favorite romantic movie as well as favorite musical movie. It really needed a sequel with Phantom as the hero and Christine's protector this time.
Love never dies is the sequel of POTO. Try searching it.

Do you have any videos of the behind the scenes of the 25th anniversary? I love Phantom of the Opera ❤❤
I need ALL of the bts stuff of this fabulous movie
What a cool video!!
Funny this is the first time I seen this.
1:33 PAL UK high pitch audio
This is so funny
Que exagero
Incredible work. Shame the movie was ruined by poor casting.
It wasn't poor casting. The actors are AWESOME. I only wish they sung opera....
