@@sailorarwen6101 Oh, ditto! I mean, I love Emma Watson, but Emmy would've been a much better Belle. You can hear the autotune and pitch correction in every song Emma sings, making her sound almost mechanical. Also, and this is probably me reading too far into things, but casting Emma as Belle kinda felt pigeon-hole-esque considering that Belle is a singing, less magicky (as in personally) version of Hermione. Obviously not the same story plot in the slightest, but the personal qualities and behaviours are very similar: A super smart girl that is a "weird" book worm, doesn't act like the rest of her peers, and has a semi-short temper - especially when it comes to those she cares about... Emmy Rossum was a fantastic choice for Christine. Her and Sierra Bogess are my favourite, because they both capture the innocence and sweetness of the character. Many times the part of Christine is sung in a legit soprano style, but I think it makes sense for Christine to sound young and inexperienced, as she is a singer with immense potential, but is only at the start of her career.
So you basically don't understand the story that after being tutored by the Phantom, she is meant to be a revelation as a great singer, not a young and inexperienced one who basically can't hit the notes in places. Musicals, especially operatic ones like this, need real singers to sing the melodies as emotion is through the music. She and Butler were very poor choices in terms of singing.

I do love the 2004 movie. I do think it's time for someone else to do a movie take on the musical - one that includes "HOW DARE YOU!? YOU EVIL WOMAN, HOW DARE YOU!?"
I'll never understand the hate this movie got. It was a masterpiece in its own right. Taught me to be kind to adaptations early on. Movies are a completely different art form and are showing a piece/story through its own lens. It's allowed! Has saved me a lot of letdowns later.
I saw How to Train Your Dragon BEFORE I saw this so I didn't have that problem. I was just waiting for the Phantom to start talking about Viking traditions and killing dragons
What no one seems to see is this: from the time Christine was a very small child, the Phantom was a companion, guard, teacher, etc. for years. Raul shows up to totally dismiss Christine's wishes (to not go to supper), totally dismisses her experiences (as in "it's just a dream" -- which means "it's all in your head", and otherwise demonstrates that she should think and feel the way he does and allow him to make all the decisions for her life. Well, maybe at about 16 or 17 years old or so she may think that's fine, but she will mature and decide she wants to have her feelings, experiences, etc. validated. And it is not Raul who saves her in the end, either -- it is the Phantom! And, by the way, she's a little brat -- who would just rip the mask off of someone who obviously must have a reason to wear it (how rude!), and later betray him in the worst possible way by ripping off all of his disguise to expose to the whole world the one thing he wanted most to hide! (How mean and nasty and ungrateful can she get!)

What was the point of removing the Phantom of the Opera 25th anniversary full show off TH-cam again? Did this post motivate you to do that?? Please bring it back 😭
Highly doubtful. I daresay it's merely a streaming rights issue.
It will forever be my favorite🤩 favorite musical and therefore favorite movie too
I'VE NEVER BEEN THIS EARLY??? 2 HOURS AGO?
WOW, and I just rewatched the movie like 2 days ago
I love the movie.
Why are they suddenly releasing Phantom videos?? I love it though!
I especially love "Past the Point of no Return" Gerald seduces and pulls you in and you can't help but be Christine and try to resist and be memorized.
And the look from Raul is just...😚👌 The realization that he could never awaken this passion in her.😜😄
Dopo 20 anni rinnova lo stupore... tutto il making off l'ho visto quando 18 anni fa mi regalarono il doppio DVD ❤😊
Best cast ever ❤
There better be a 20th anniversary theatrical re-release planned!
@@kefkapalazzo3818 I feel the same. I so want to see it again on a big screen.

MY FAVORITE MUSICAL EVER~
I MUST WATCH
I love this movie.
this is what I am waiting for ❤❤❤
A great film wonderful songs.. was so surprised to see that Gerard Butler sung his own songs …
This is probably the best Musical movie ever made
Oh my....you need to see more movie musicals....
@@kevinwilson3609what would you recommend?
What would you recommend
@@moviemelody2210 Sweeney Todd. Chicago. Cabaret. Dancer in the Dark. The Sound of Music. There are so many good movie musicals and some very very bad ones: Phantom, Evita, Cats, Les Miz to name four.
I do love the 2004 movie. I do think it's time for someone else to do a movie take on the musical - one that includes "HOW DARE YOU!? YOU EVIL WOMAN, HOW DARE YOU!?"
I love that scene! And the one where they are rehearsing for "Don Juan triumphant" 🤩
I'll never understand the hate this movie got. It was a masterpiece in its own right. Taught me to be kind to adaptations early on. Movies are a completely different art form and are showing a piece/story through its own lens. It's allowed! Has saved me a lot of letdowns later.
This movie was my dream 😍
I absolutely love the movie ❤
I keep forgetting that Gerard Butler is Scottish,
I saw How to Train Your Dragon BEFORE I saw this so I didn't have that problem. I was just waiting for the Phantom to start talking about Viking traditions and killing dragons
However, you can't help but remember in every scene that he's a bad singer.
@@kevinwilson3609I think he did good
UM WHERE WAS THIS IN 2020 WHEN I GOING THROUGH MY INTENSE PHANTOM ERA?! 😭
This movie is from 2004
Man this was 20 years ago. There was less time between the premiere of the stage show and the movie than the movie and now
LET THE DREAM BEGIN;
LET YOUR DARKER SIDE GIVE IN
What no one seems to see is this: from the time Christine was a very small child, the Phantom was a companion, guard, teacher, etc.
Exactly! I always thought it's so inconsiderate and rude of her to rip off his mask - twice!
I agree with you about Raoul. What a jerk, just come on in and take over. Probably wanted her to be a housewife and forget the opera.
