I know this is an old post, but it helped me out greatly! Found an IR blaster along with some other cords. Had no idea what it was or where it came from. Fortunately, I found another one in its unopened bag with a card saying IR blaster. Now I'm going to give it a try with one of my older android 'house' phones. Thanks!
Also, the "power output" from the headphone jack isn't minimal to avoid being a battery drain, it's minimal because most headphones are also driven by the signal provided them. They don't have a separate power supply and communication line, turning up the volume increases the amplitude(voltage) of the signal wave, and the increased voltage increases the power supplied to the headphone. They're "low power" because they supply enough power to get the loudness they want from the headphones, which isn't much. Also since that's how these ir leds are being powered as well, turning the volume on your phone all the way up will give you the best range.
Make magazine store sold "TV be gone". One version was built into a ball cap. The top "knob" was the activation button. They also sold a cell-looking version. There were 2 types. US common brands and European brands. Both devices cycled through all of the known codes. DIY and open-source cultures are fairly accepting folks.
IR emitter: just snatch an 3.5mm old headphone jack and solder 2x IR diodes (opposite parallel) from old R/C on the L/R terminals of jack: Now you have a DIY powerful IR blaster ready. Doesn't cost anything since all these are from "junks" at home. Just maximize all the settings on the App (tested on Zaza Remote App) to get good powerful transmit of signal..... The power source is NOT used as said in this clip (by some novice) here... just the signal ..WOKRS GR8.
nice review.thanks. at least it could be like a last chance device when we're stuck with no remote at all for a device to troubleshoot or something. not really in a daily use.
I suggest that everyone first check the output voltage on your 3.5mm plug before buying this. Use your voltmeter. My Sony Xperia only delivers 1V. Is not the suitable voltage for these ID diodes.
Could simply be designed for Apple phones, as in typical Apple fashion they put their mic & ground connections the opposite way around(on 4 connector plugs) - though it shouldn't make any difference if the ir blaster only has 3 connectors on the plug.
Why do you make a video if it doesn't even work? During the time i wrote this, there were a repeating glitch on many browsers, making a great part of youtube out of order! At that moment, a lot of people experienced this! Tho, it's not relevant anymore so i'll edit and add this justification to the comment!

Did anyone know does it work in Sharp R3. It's hard to find detailed information in the internet about this phone even in official page. But it just said the phone supported Hi-Res through 3.5mm. Does it affect to voltage specifications of IR blaster?
does anyone know how to increase the range of this? I can see the led through camera hard blinking. Any app which increase the output voltage or external amp circuit or even any specific led that can provide longer range. I have samsung j5
Yes. You need to buy an ir receiver for the PC as well. This guy's speaking incorrectly too. He keeps calling the device in the video an ir receiver. It's not. It's a transmitter.
@Usama Talpur actually later on I bought redmi note 8 pro pro as it have in built ir blaster so I'm not facing any problems external ir blaster would not work I think
I know my Chromebook 3 uses apps and has Android as its OS. One of my apps uses the Bluetooth feature to control my Roku. Has anybody tried it on devices other than phones?
Probably not much point, there would likely be little more than an LED. Software sends a 'loud' signal(for max voltage) and the LED turns on, and vice versa.
I wish people would actually check things, rather than the usual mindless 'fake' exclamation with nothing whatsoever to back it up. It's a simple device, it's not fake at all.
No, just because you couldn't get it working doesn't mean it's 'fake'. 3.5mm socket provides a (small) voltage, IR LED is lit by said voltage. You need to use a compatible app, some phones seemingly also don't support this - presumably due to some kind of protective or sensing circuitry.

Lol In school i just turn off the projector when I’m bored

These 9 year olds are wild

I bought that just to do it😏
bitch
You keep calling this an ir receiver, which is what the opposite of what this is; an ir emitter.
Just show us if you can turn on a TV!!!
Like 25yrs ago I had a remote control watch that I would mess around turning TV on during class
I kept changing the projector off and on in my school with it and turning all the TVs off in the store lol
lol

I get not found ir. Do you know how to fix that

I have one on a long cord and can I put the software on my pc to control rgb strip lighting?
i bought 1 for 1$ and it works great on my ipad but not on android
I think my phone is too weak to generate enough voltage to the IR LED. Might have to add like an Opamp or something

Do you think there's a way to boost it? Some sort of fun circuit build?
Only 2m range :(
U can boost it if ur phone have engineer mode try download mtk app
Syan TV
Is engineer mode the same thing as developer mode?
I was thinking about perhaps like an audio amplifier or something (externally).
Can i also recode zaza remote using this device.
Is it also allows to receive ir single to decode and save
No, it doesn't receive signal, it's basically just an LED soldered onto a 3.5mm plug.
Since i had used walkman mid 80' until 2020t, I jusy want to say I love phone jack 3.5mm size.
It useful and easy to use.
What if you used it through bt to a small headphone amplifier or something with justa little more power?
Which shop Duke which shop do you get that from
works only on iphone but non of my androids works with it, what to do? it saying that there is no infrared head

What is the rate of infra red
They should sell an intermediate module to amplify and square the voltage prior to this device.

Try using a speaker booster?
you can use a headphone amplifier, or a ir repeater.
Wow... 0 about how to setup the fkn app that's saying the whole time there is no ir device
The app can't detect it
where can i get the

Works really but low range due to jack voltage. Is there any way to boost it?
I got for 0.61$
which phone and which remote app you installed
My Zaza remote not detecting the ir blaster what's the issue I don't know it showing 🎧 at top but stupid app not detecting it suggest me somthing 🙏

The IR blaster will only work with devices that support sending IR signals to the 3.5mm socket.
