Thank you for uploading this video, Alois Ruf is truely a great man with an unmatched passion. Mabye my 1985 will reach the hallowed grounds of his shop some day.
My dad owns one. Officially it's not badged as a RUF because it was built in '79. 290 h.p. He got up to 160 before we ran out of roomm, has 165 in it. Sounds beautiful. RUF fitted a Bischoff exhaust which at the time was the big cheese for rally cars and Porsches.
@VoltageRC Because they are Porsches, just modified to the extent that they are considered remanufactured to the point that the company is considered a manufacturer in their own right. The BTR was a type 930, the CTR was a type 964 and the CTR 2 is a type 993, also as he said the R-GT is a 996, then the RT12 is based on a 997. The 3400s and 3600s are type 986 Boxter chassis with engines out of 911s. With the exception of the new CTR3 every Ruf car was based on an existing chassis.
Honestly if I could have any porsche I would want the current 911 classic that has already been production ran and ended, it was an extremely rare car, I would want it with a RUF tuned engine and chassis, and maybe some body work on the front end to give it more of the old school Porsche look, More or less have it look and sound like an old RSR.
Porsche has always been my favorite car. If i could have any car it would be some kind of a 911. Id love to have the money and call this guy and say i have the funds, make me a yellow bird, i want the exact car but in grabber blue! Same year everything that car is serious ! Did you see it coming up that hill side ways smoke pouring off the tires....yikes! They have been my favorite ever since my uncle bought a brand new 911 in 89 all black inside and out. He first bought a 944 (i hate them) but someone stole it then he bought a new 1987 911 minus whale tail then he traded it in, in 89 for the one with the whale tail. I never knew why he didn't get a turbo? I know he had things done to the motor i think he liked naturally aspirated cars it screwed i remember that.
