I get choked up too! I built models of the car I now own!! You remember the little kid in you looking at that car awe-struck! Then you get to a point in your life where you can make that little kids fantasies come true, and it lives up to all your wild expectations! I love Porsche!! They make a car that will never disappoint the reckless little kid in you! Very proud '88 930 Turbo owner here!
I concur. Fell in love with a 930 as a teen, and just got myself a 964 turbo for my 30th birhday. Everytime I drive it, I get that feeling that I had as a boy. And now I can see kids having that same dream and listen to the sound it makes when I drive by them. That's the spirit!
when i test drove mine before i got it... i fell in love. its now an obsession i've only had it for a year and im searching for my next! the sound, the handling, the look. it has it all.
Ahh! I remember when the 996 were still being sold we were buying a Cayenne, and the Porsche garage gave me 2 of those 996 posters I still have one framed on my wall many years on! Happy memories!
Just discovered that vid today - and nearly fell off my chair. :-) The road at 2:17 and 2:21 is the one i drive almost every day to work. It's near Bietigheim (about 20km from Stuttgart). Small world...
@quincee33 What can you say in defense? Tell him that 911´s are not mid-engined. 911´s engine is on the back, behind the rear axle, while mid-engined cars have the engine in front of the rear axle. These kind of configuration, which 911´s use, is said to be impractical because of the weight distribution, but Porsche has proved they can build rear engined cars that easily beat mid-engined cars, which is said to be the best engine configuration.
in early 2000, i have only driven a Boxster, it drove so good and dreamed of what 911 could be like, 2009 I had a used 2005 911 Turbo and it was an amazing experience. I would trade my wife and kids over a 2012 911 (991)
When engineering meets art and beauty. I have dreamt about owning a Porsche ever since I can remember... I am close now, I can almost see her in my garage...
Very well said. Porsche makes sence. It has "Super Car" performance, from a car that is very easily understandable to your week-end mechanic. I am very biased, but I think my '88 930 is the best looking car ever made! Enzo who? It's a car that you can take to the supermarket, go through Mcdonalds drive-thu, then take to the track and blow away most stock cars, then drive back home. Everything still works, and the engine will purr like a kitten. Porsche is just an amazing car!
What would the world be like if everything had to be practical? What would happen to men with dreams? Crazy, impossible, unbelievable impractical dreams. Building something that no one has said they need What would the world be like if everything had to be rational? Would there be room for dreamer? Would there be room for company of dreamers? A place where inspiration comes not just once but again and again and again…
its not that they try to make impractical cars...they make it as practical as possible in the super sports car genre u speak of ferrari's impracticality as its unique desirable trait... and that my friend, is exactly the element that sets porsches and porsche lovers apart we are not out to prove a point...the point "evolves" in a 911
The picture at 1:08 in shows Ferdinand Porsche and son Ferry. To the left of Ferry and not shown is Erwin Komenda, the man that designed the Beetle (it's body shape), the 356 and was instrumental in designing the 911 (although, Ferry's son, Butzi gets the credit for the 911). Butzi designed the 904. Arguably more beautiful than Komenda's designs. However, no one on earth has designed more recognizable automobile forms than Komenda. It is worth a Google search on him if you are an auto buff,
you dont know jack about Porsche. they almost went bankrupt a few times, and they built an suv when they were booming to make money, to put it into their sports.what you think R&D is free make fun of those cars all you want. but the Cayenne was not built overnight. it had a 2 speed transfer case, for serious off roading, hummer H1 capibilities, air suspension which is so sophisticated I dont even have enough room to explain. dont feel bad I get the feeling you are a poser who like ferries
actually it is , Ferdinand himself wanted a 4 door car but he didn't get to see his dream. now they finally made one and it's the best 4 door car on the market. it's not the average family car , it's the Porsche of the sedans, just like the Cayenne is the Porsche of SUVs. Porsche is about engineering and performance, no matter what form it has. they used to build tractors and tanks and designed military armored vehicles until the late '70s.
@quincee33 i cant tell ya, ive never seen a porsche with a problem or body damage. Ive also never been able to look under the hood but maybe next time i see my buddys 944 T.
@dill30669 i agrre, but i just don't get the bashing he and others havfe against the 911, i always thought it was engineered to perfection. And if the design is flawed, why do they still have it?
I believe this is the narrator who read the audio book of Ayn Rand's Atlas Shrugged. It is on TH-cam as well, so someone can verify this if they care. I just love his voice.
@unknownunknowns ofc its is the question of layout. mid engine will always be faster, but the essense of 911 is in this rear engine cryziness(old times) and there will be always fans of that historical achievment. ppl dont buy 911 because its the fastest, they buy it coz they love them. porsche has carrera gt and that new hybrid spider as mid engined hypercars, so i see no need to erase 911
actually ferdinand porsche designed the beetle, one of the first practical cars... wich was still awesome, this advert defends supercars, and there are many but really think about it, no one is similar to porsche.
@t0rq21 Yes, there are loyalists who are fanatical of the 911 (who are decreasing in numbers), there are increasing number of loyalists who think that the Cayman is an improvement and is more fun to drive compared with the 911, and there are those who want to save money on a car that performs just as well. So, in essence, Porsche will have to go with the times, or just have its place in history and not worry about the competition.
@driftboy23 Yes, I'm aware about the GT2 RS (How much does that cost?) but don't forget about the GT2, the regular version, which got creamed. Also, what is the fuel efficiency of the GT2, not the Carrera? Why give a damn when you're spending 200K. I like the 911's heritage but there is more potential with the Cayman since the engine can have opportunities to be a little bit bigger, since higher revs can lose so much torque, without throwing the whole body at a corner.
@SunKing968 Porsche stopped building Front Engined ones because the people at that time actually did not like Front Engined Porsches. Look what happened to the 928. It was a beautiful sports car, but only if people at that time actually recognize the 928 as a beautiful sports car, Porsche would still be building it until now.
@raidermike72 That is a beautiful car. My dad had his for 15 years and was gutted when he sold it for the car in the above video. He hated the 996 so much that he junked it the moment the 997 came out which was a vastly superior car. I on the other hand didnt like the 930. I think its because the only thing i remember from it was sitting in the back in 40 degree weather and vomiting over his leather seats lol. Wasnt the most comfortable experience.
Porsche 911 is the best car in the world, excellent handling and power, reliable and a hell of a fun car to drive, not to mention the sound of the engine, why bother in turning on the stereo.
@t0rq21 Yes, but on the Nurburgring with 150 corners, the ZR1 got 7:26 while the GT2 did it in 7:32, yet the GT2 is twice the price already. Look, Porsche has done everything it could with the 911 that it is no longer viable and the Cayman needs to take over because has been proven by car reviewers it does much better at cornering than the 911.
Stefan, Porsche GT2 RS 2022 eleven years after your comment holds the record at 6:43. Forty-two seconds faster than Porsche in your post. Not Viable? FAIL!
@brainysnaeha I can see how low to the ground the ZR1 is but how high off the ground is the GT2, not the Carrera, if they are to be driven anywhere? Look, the Cayman got about the same Nurburgring times as the Carrera and car reviewers are liking the Cayman better than the 911. I do like the 911's improvement evolution but the 911 has its DIMINISHING performance returns about beating the exotics but not the GT2 and GTR.
this is the best way to say that porsche it is a religion its a dream of most of guys in this planet i have a 911 carrera S 997, and a cayenne S 2003 just one thing it is a dream come true, we gonna die some day and we never can take anything to heaven and there is some ppl who say it is just a car, and i say yes but i need it to feel me alive!!!
never give up. I have 2 Porsches! and I´m still a dreamer. Porsche is my religion.
I get choked up too! I built models of the car I now own!! You remember the little kid in you looking at that car awe-struck! Then you get to a point in your life where you can make that little kids fantasies come true, and it lives up to all your wild expectations! I love Porsche!! Great ad! 964 and 993 for me. They were the pinnacles of Porsche. Love the later ones too, but in a different way. Cheers.
Almost makes my eyes water at the end. The kid reminds me of me at the end.
I ended up buying a 993 Turbo in 2004 :-)
Hello from 15 years later, hope you are doing well
Very well thank you! I’ve been married and divorced since then and I’ve emigrated to the USA...
That kid could have been me. I had the same Porsche 996 turbo poster and ended up buying that model in 2018.
The ad brings tears to my eyes.
Your 993 Turbo is worth almost twice what you paid for it. That was a good decision, even if your wife wasn't ;)@@MarquisRex
Thank you! It’s wrapped up in a cocoon. I never sold it and probably never will. Good cars stand by us, unlike ex wives ;-)
I concur.
Fell in love with a 930 as a teen, and just got myself a 964 turbo for my 30th birhday.
Everytime I drive it, I get that feeling that I had as a boy. And now I can see kids having that same dream and listen to the sound it makes when I drive by them. That's the spirit!
Its a great commercial
when i test drove mine before i got it... i fell in love. its now an obsession i've only had it for a year and im searching for my next! the sound, the handling, the look. it has it all.
Ahh! I remember when the 996 were still being sold we were buying a Cayenne, and the Porsche garage gave me 2 of those 996 posters I still have one framed on my wall many years on! Happy memories!
brought a tear to my eye...
I almost cried, Porsches are the most beautiful cars ever made.
Just discovered that vid today - and nearly fell off my chair. :-) The road at 2:17 and 2:21 is the one i drive almost every day to work. It's near Bietigheim (about 20km from Stuttgart). Small world...
that was by far the most touching and inspirational ad I'd ever seen.
It made so much sense
Thankfully the world isn’t practical
That was AWESOME! Gave me chills too..haha. I want a porche now.
I'm just about to pickup my first Porsche, a 2008 Porsche 911 Carrera 4S Cabriolet here in Minnesota, U.S.A.
A 134 years ago was born the greatest artist in the world....Doctor Ferdinand Porsche(3 september 1875)...RIP
wow, to the dreamers...
I want to own a Porsche one day, and I will.
If you invested in AAPL, then you do now?
Thats not just a commercial, it lets you think about your live :)
What a brilliant ad. I didn't think someone could get me emotional over a car.
Yes, we are still like the little boy, even if we are close to 40...
Never give up, never stop dreaming!
Fantastic spot for a superb car!!
I'm a proud owner of a 996tt
What an epic advert
Ferdinand Porsche with the 356
And his grandson butzi with the 911
Watching this made me get up out of bed and take a drive in my Mazda Miata at 3am 😂
@quincee33 What can you say in defense? Tell him that 911´s are not mid-engined. 911´s engine is on the back, behind the rear axle, while mid-engined cars have the engine in front of the rear axle. Greatest supercar of all time. I like the end with the little boy and the poster!
in early 2000, i have only driven a Boxster, it drove so good and dreamed of what 911 could be like, 2009 I had a used 2005 911 Turbo and it was an amazing experience. I would trade my wife and kids over a 2012 911 (991)
thats the reason why i bought a porsche 911,amazing cars ridiculous handling
When engineering meets art and beauty. I have dreamt about owning a Porsche ever since I can remember... I am close now, I can almost see her in my garage...
Did you get your Porsches?
Do not dare to die without having driven a Porsche.
996 turbo (kidney lamp) is always been my favourite carrera turbo!!
Even if the 996 turbo is ten years old it still looks stunning!
The 928 is great too
I think porsches have a quality that no other car does that Clarkson would never understand.I love them and hope to own one one day.
Funny thing is, this car is far more practical than most cars that perform comparably...
The next time you see a Porsche think of this ad!
Very well said. Porsche makes sence. It has "Super Car" performance, from a car that is very easily understandable to your week-end mechanic. What a great ad, makes you want to buy a Porsche even if you hadn't previously considered one. +1 for Porsche's marketing team.
It gave me goosebumps...I have that same poster on my wall...
nothing has to be practical but porsche will always combine the best of evrything you would want from a car.
Awesome..... I was one of those dreamers
@quincee33 its hard to change peoples mind... ask if hes ever seen one broke down on the side of the road. I never have.
What would the world be like if everything had to be practical?
What would happen to men with dreams? Crazy, impossible, unbelievable impractical dreams. Building something that no one has said they need

Same here... still in college and still I have 3 official 993 posters on the wall, with a few others still rolled up in a box.
Did you ever get your Porsche?
I cried during this video
Epic and beautiful.
Porsche commercials were always so elegant
Porsche is simply the best. Only when you own one will you understand this.
I would sell my dignity for a Carrera RS 1973 as once I have the RS, my dignity would have been restored, a thousand fold.
I LOVE THIS FOR LIFE
this is ,y favorite sport car, U can use it daily every day, unlike any other sport car!

i love the 911 turbo i have a 1985 trubo its great car it also has 4 seats
MUAHAHAHA
911 is the most PRACTICAL supercar ever)
I love Porsche cars when I was a little boy.
Zabir Malik
Hate to say but but there is is other cars out that are faster then Porsches

What an awesome commercial.
Makes me cry!
Simply great! What else can I say?
Yes...this is my dream..Porsche!
But they finished first in the JD Powers quality survey! Sounds like a practical car to me. It even has a back seat.
Thank you!!
Yes, you are right!!

@MarcoTUV easy now i drive a durango and the 911 has been my dream car since i saw one on ps1. nfs porsche unleashed. since i was 11

My car gives me joy
nice video, nice car
thank you Thank You THANK YOU Ferdinand Porsche
Thanks porsche for building beautiful cars and suvs taycan etc
awesome vid!
this is a very great car!!
@unknownunknowns You know the time of the GT2 RS around the Ring?
makes me want to go out and buy one

i like the car, and the idea. the problem is that the maintenance costs don't give us joy.
Total man version of a chick flick here. Love it. If you are a car or Porsche guy, you understand.
Fritter70 the history of Porsche is what makes it fun!
@SunKing968 Porsche stopped building Front Engined ones because the people at that time actually did not like Front Engined Porsches. Look what happened to the 928. ...a company of dreamers
love it
RULES!!!!
@an50331 lmaoo!! that made my day lol
I think Porsche should do like Ford and GM did and work with the orginal 911 look. The new Porsches are looking more japanese then german!
FA Barragan two and half men Allen had the boxster
@t0rq21 Yes, but on the Nurburgring with 150 corners, the ZR1 got 7:26 while the GT2 did it in 7:32, yet the GT2 is twice the price already. Forget the little boys...Grown Up Girls Know The Equation...Quite Well.
I could not imagine the world being practical
@MarcoTUV Thank You for clarifying that! I was curious who those 13 thumbs downs could possibly be?! :)
@brainysnaeha I can see how low to the ground the ZR1 is but how high off the ground is the GT2, not the Carrera, if they are to be driven anywhere? yeah. i like it.
why is there black and white film of the 2012 911?
yell ya!
wow !
your a lucky man.
That... was, beautiful *tears
