    I took my mother out shooting the other day with the intent to find her something that she can use for home defense. She is very small and in her 70's. She had a lot of issues with her grip. Not actually holding onto the gun, but just where to put her support hand and repeating a proper grip each time. After shooting several handguns she shot my AR-9 and said that was what she wanted. I told her about the Extar EP9 and that's what she settled on. I think it's actually going to be perfect for her. It's lite weight, inexpensive, low recoil, and should be easy for her to use. I'm looking forward to getting her out to the range with it.

      Extar recommended against +P ammo, for the Gen 1 EP9 at least. A saw a comment on a TH-cam video posted by someone who said that +P cracked the polymer frame of his EP9; Extar was able to repair it, though. After reading that, I've totally avoided +P for it.

    I bought 2 of them more than a few years ago, no issues. I've recommended them to at least 6 people and they've never complained to me about theirs. I have one friend that shoots a lot and he love's his, my only complaint is they never released the expected .45 ACP and 10 mm versions and those versions supposedly came with a NP3 coated bolt, which I think would be sweet for the 9mm platform. Simply, put there is no other firearm in this price point, which can do this but its not going to be near as cool without an arm brace. Also, why does this gun make sense, many people own expensive 9mm PCC's, not many will really go hard with them because they are so expensive North of 2k. This firearm is something you can make some memories with because you will literally take it everywhere with you and worry less about it getting scraped or dropped in a mud puddle, its polymer who really cares and it cost less than 5 bills.

      @@NoNo_IStay While the FM9 may also be a good option the FM9 is getting close in cost to other good options such as what the Stribog SP9A1 sold for earlier this year. The price is a little higher now. The point is there is nothing else really at $450 or less other than Kel-Tec Sub2000 and Hi-Point 995. These are very different. One has a 16" barrel and is a folding firearm and the other only holds 10 rounds in a mag and many say is strange looking if not ugly and is not as easy to clean. The Sub2000 has a number of things that many do not like which is why MCarbo sells so many different upgraded parts. ExtarUSA with their Gen2 put many of the upgraded components into their product that Gen1 buyers were installing. Neither the Kel-Tec or Hi-Point have AR controls that many are very used to using.

    I just purchased the second generation one unbelievable work with all my magazines very light shooting. I purchased it after seeing your video. I don’t think the price is going to stay that way for long. Extar owner has been designing and building this kind of stuff, he has been around a long time. I purchased a professional ordinance (EXTAR OLD COMPANY IN THE 90’S) back in the late 90s when the band was in a fact he was the one that came out with that carbon 15 late on Bushmaster bought his company. The owner of Extar, he’s been doing this for many years he knows his business for sure. I shot thousands upon thousands of rounds through that professional ordinance carbon 15 and I never had a problem back in the day naturally when the band was lifted I upgraded all my stuff and got rid of it. Like I said the owner of Extar Has been in the firearms business and making these polymers for many years if they can hold up to a 223/5.56. Way back in the 90s which everyone knows plastics over time have improvements on T&D. The life of the Extar will have been no problems like I said I had over 3000 rounds out of the 5.56 that he used to make years ago and this is just a 9 mm. Many people have between 10 and 20,000 rounds through these guns I know someone personally that has close to 10,000 rounds first GEN.

    I almost bought one of those, but, instead, decided to get me a Ruger PC model 19122 tactical (collapsible stock and pistol grip) with a floating handguard and a 16" barrel. It cost me $750 dollars (about $500 less than the CZ Scorpion). And yet, my Ruger PC is reliable, super accurate, with great ergonomics. The 16" barrel adds velocity, increases accuracy, and ensures bullet expansion reliability.
    The PC is the ideal home defense weapon system. An AR-15 5.56 rifle in urban environments have serious liability issues, due to long distance traveling and overpenetration.
    The PC is more suitable for CQB, and it won't blow your ear drums out indoors, because the concusion report is significantly less than a 5.56.

    In the years past, I've ordered a few of them for customers at the store. While I've historically turned my nose up at plastic rifles and handguns, this one is sturdy where it counts. I honestly never heard a complaint from the people who bought them, and Extar was proactive in letting me (personally) know exactly where that gun was during the shipping process. A great option if you don't want to invest $1500 in something before you know you're going to use it - or like it. Today's 9mm PCC's are going ever-higher in prices, and this one is a refreshing respite from the tired argument of price versus utility arguments that people love to have here on these platforms. At this price point, you can buy several and a lot of folks can enjoy shooting them rather than having to take turns. Thanks for a great review on this GB!

Recoil is so light because there is a big synthetic rubber donut in the rear of the buffer tube. Not sure why no one ever mentions the FM9 by Foxtrot Mike. I got mine for $599 with a side charging handle, 7" (they have 5", 7", 9" and 16") takes glock mags and has the last round bolt hold open. And they're aluminum. Not plastic. Excellent little AR9s and I'm super glad I chose it over the extar.

    Honest Outlaw has a video up with 3000 rounds through a Gen 1 Ep9. He reported the only issue being the brace he had on that working loose but that because he had not staked it. Also optics were tricky to mount. Repeating again this was a EP9 Gen 1. Long wanted a 9mm PCC and this looks like the one I will get.

    • @GBGuns

    I know it might be a little bit of a sacrifice but you could pull the bullet on one of those venom rounds and see exactly what the weight is. If you have quite a bit of it and you really would like to know that’s always an option. Sometimes I use my dead blow bullet puller to see just exactly what is being loaded in factory ammunition in terms of powder and bullet type. I can usually get a good weight on rounds or at least close enough to know what they were going for. I say that because some bullets I pull can be off a few tenths of a grain in either direction. But just a suggestion.

    • @GBGuns
      @GBGuns  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I've thought about it,but it's more fun to mock a company who doesn't label their ammo.

    • @Painterrap
      @Painterrap 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@GBGuns Yeah honestly it seems a little bit crazy!! If your going to put in all the effort required to load mass quantities of ammunition then at least take full credit for what you have produced. And now that you have actually pointed this out I don’t think I have seen any other ammunition in my years of shooting that doesn’t at least have the projectile weight listed. I know I have seen a few without velocity information but I don’t think I’ve seen any without bullet weight information. And if mocking them for failing at one of the least complex parts of loading commercial grade ammunition is more fun then I would stick to that cause you know why not.

    • @GBGuns
      @GBGuns  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Bieve it or not Fort Scott used to not kabel their stuff either. I pointed it out over and over and now they label. It's a running gag every year at SHOT show.

      @@GBGuns Yeah that’s funny!! Well listen I really enjoy your content and have been watching it since you had less than 5k subscribers. Keep up the good work cause I really enjoy how you reach out into the firearms cosmos and procure some of these firearms that the average person doesn’t give consideration to when buying. You have a great niche, you have reviews for guns that almost no one else even considers reviewing and that’s awesome. The reason I say that is I have, only because of your channel, went out and actually purchased a couple of firearms that you reviewed and I have found out that some of these companies make really good guns that most people just don’t know about. So I purchased a Grand Power K100 and I love that gun it sits in my quick access safe right by my bed. It’s been a few years ago but you also turned me on to Tisas 1911’s and I have two of them now and they are awesome 1911’s that you can actually afford.
