    My local mechanic who specializes in European cars wanted to change the starter, battery, and do an oil change for $2,500. You saved me a ton, thank you.

    I might have the same problem with S7, did you get ignition when the pyrofuse was blown or were you blacked out completely? I have no start after front collision

      Nothing at all. Easy to test, just jump and bypass it like I did in video.

    Lamentablemente mi mecánico me hizo cambiar, batería y marcha, el carro ya arranca, voy a revisar qué no le hayan puesto un puente. Porque encontré esta pieza del video descontada y tirada en la cajuela. Muchas gracias

    i wonder if you buckling your seatbelt is what set the fuse off.

    this fuse only blows if the airbags are deployed?

    • @DIYSalvageGuy
      @DIYSalvageGuy  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      No. It blows if there is an impact. Doesn't have to be airbags. Mine didn't deploy and blew after I got it home from auction.

    Do you know if, in addition to allowing the battery to start the car, this fuse ALSO allows the alternator to charge the battery? In my case it appears the fuse blew while I was driving on the way home - post-accident Audi with airbag light on. Car was driving perfectly fine at the transporter's yard and immediately after I left. About a minute into the drive I buckled the seatbelts and then 5 minutes later random things started shutting down. After I lost engine power and pulled over, the battery was completely drained.

      This is exactly what happened to the s5. Everything worked and then it blew, but k wasn't driving it. I'm pretty sure it's just connecting the starter and should still charge the car, but this fuse is designed to blow so I'm unsure of all the potential problems. It's an easy enough fix though!

    I'm curious, could I just rig up a jumper wire and then drive it temporarily till the switch comes in?

    Which airbag deployed? I'm thinking an Audi I'm watching at auction has a blown battery fuse but there was not airbag deployment.

    • @DIYSalvageGuy
      @DIYSalvageGuy  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Driver seat deployed. The battery fuse is not directly caused by an airbag deployment. The vehicle senses the accident and disconnects the battery to prevent fire.

    • @bigfinCamaro
      @bigfinCamaro 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@DIYSalvageGuy I have watched a few videos and they have kinda implied that the wiring hooked up to that fuse was directly from the airbag.

    • @DIYSalvageGuy
      @DIYSalvageGuy  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      If the airbag deployed, then yes the fuse will 100% blow but the fuse blowing doesn't mean an airbag deployed. Also curious what makes you think the fuse blew if it's a copart lot

    I was changing an ignition coil on my 2012 s5 and I went to go start the car, it started misfiring badly so I turned it off. Went to turn it back on again and nothing happened. Do you think this would be still a fix for my issue?

    • @DIYSalvageGuy
      @DIYSalvageGuy  ปีที่แล้ว

      This triggers due to an impact. If you changed ignition coil, make sure it's fully connected.

    Did you used two set of jumping cables

    • @DIYSalvageGuy
      @DIYSalvageGuy  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      No. You just bypass where the fuse runs with the cable so it doesn't affect it anymore.

    Was it cranking at all ? My A4 cranks but doesn’t start. It cranks for ever. I was thinking it could be the crankshaft sensor ?

    • @DIYSalvageGuy
      @DIYSalvageGuy  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      No. My car was not cranking at all. If you're cranking, I'd say it is not this problem, but it's easy enough to test with jumper cables. If it's a bad sensor, usually a check engine light will be on.

    Hi mate, I am looking to get an RS7 that has been in accident. No airbag or seatbelt has deployed but car is listed as non runner. Has lost oil due to busted front oil cooler and not sure if engine seized or is there any possibility this fuse can blow despite no pyro deploying? Other hopeful cause would be dead battery that cant start it even with a jump pack which has been tried.

    • @DIYSalvageGuy
      @DIYSalvageGuy  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi there. I would say that your non start issue is most likely this reason. The fuse blows to prevent damage like you are mentioning. Good luck buy know rs 7 parts are rare and expensive.

    Looks like the window needs to lower a little first before the top opens. But I don't think that window is moving. Can't wait to see how the body works goes.

    • @DIYSalvageGuy

      Use a jumper cable to connect past the blown fuse. It's shown in the video.

      @@DIYSalvageGuy I'm just confused on are you putting two positives. Or a positive and a negative to the fuse and jumping out from another car?

    • @DIYSalvageGuy
      @DIYSalvageGuy  ปีที่แล้ว

      You just use two positives on the same area. You just bypass the fuse. Itself.
