I’m trying not to, but I think she’s finally given up. I’ve realized I’ve kept these compulsive habits for so long, thinking that I was never hurting anyone, but in reality, I’ve irreparably harmed the most important person in my life. The person that accepted me when I was at my worst, and now at my best, I hurt her.
Tell her...sincerely. Tell her you f*cked up, that you are a human that makes bad choices and that you regret those choices. She needs to hear that you regret the pain you caused...even if she won't take you back. If you really love her like this, you will tell her all of this and more even if it is just to give her some peace of mind to help HER heal without her taking you back. As a betrayed partner...hearing my husband tell me over and over and over again that it was the worst choice of his life and seeing him work so hard on our marriage is what is helping me rebuild trust In him. My husband NEVER talked about his feelings before this...even when I begged and pleaded. So, seeing him be vulnerable and seeing him work so hard to be open and vulnerable about everything is a HUGE deal for me. Your lady needs to see that you are hurting...that she actually DID mean something to you despite you making a horrible selfish decision.
Then why did you cheat? Please tell me because I am so hurt i am on the verge of suicide after he cheated on me. He started getting it on with a girl at work a month after proposing to me. Just wonderful, I have been researching "trying to make it work after cheating" for a while now, and I think this has helped. Have you ever come across - Qenamilla Strayer Magnet - (Have a quick look on google cant remember the place now ) ? Ive heard some pretty good things about it and my brother in law got cool success with it.
I am a marriage therapist, so I work with trust & communication issues all the time. Geoffrey made several excellent suggestions -- but I'd like him to clarify how he would help a couple to have an "emotional" conversation about the root problem and the win/win solutions. Is he saying that emotions must be addressed rather than ignored? That seems obvious, but it is a crucial point, especially for men, who generally want to get right to the fix and avoid all those messy emotions.
wow, I found it a generalization to say especially men avoid emotions. By my exoerience woman often times are not able to express their emotions and instead trying to trigger men with cues. Where men quickly can express emotions and expect woman to do so instead of triggering them, which mostly affects men's emotions in a negative way. Because it make them feel ignored.
I'm here because my partner lost my trust, our daughter is only just 4months old and I discovered him being disloyal even though we talked about how lies (cheating and other forms of mental and physical hurts). Even though we spoke about this before our daughter was born he decided to stray, lied and I found out almost 3months after, when I first came to him I told him how I was feeling. He made promises that he would change then repeatedly did what he told me he wouldn't. He's now trying to get therapy to keep our relationship together and so we can try keep our family together for our daughter. Well this definitely helps a lot….my partner and I are really trying to ease into trust and slowly working to healing and moving forward. We almost rushed back into being “lovey dovey” with each other but instead she felt pressured which I understood so what we decided was to create space where we see each other once a week to not be overwhelmed but the rest of the days we reflect and work on communication with each other and ourselves. We both really want this to work but every now and then which I completely understand she has those days where she wants to “throw in the towel” to my response is I don’t blame her if she did it is not easy trying to repair but if we both do it together as well as work on being the best of ourselves I know we can best. Difficulty right now are those days when she feels like giving up and shutting down. I want to understand why but sometimes it is cases where it is her siblings talking bad. How do I reassure her or help her understand that I want to grow with her, that I am bettering myself, and am serious about progressing towards a new and better us? She currently believes that I am just doing this temporarily but she says she would like it if I prove her wrong so I’m doing to the best of my ability to do so just days that she wants to give up hit her hard and my question is how can I help her even more on those days without overwhelming her or her feeling like I’m just repeating/telling her what she wants to here?

It is SO HARD when two people are on two different wave lengths and trying to get our points across that it gets exhausting and the hope nearly gone. I still feel horrible after I was caught texting another girl. we talked about why I did it and we both decided to give each other space and work on ourselves because my girlfriend still really wants to be with me so I’ve asked her different ways I could improve the relationship and she’s been asking me how she could too. It’s been a challenge getting through this especially since this is both of ours first relationship and we’ve been together for 3 years now and I can never be more grateful for a person as special as her. What if you're the instigator, if you cheated a long time ago and you cant remember all of the reasons why you did what you did?? I feel so lost and confused and desperate. My wife is the best thing that's ever happened to me. I made the biggest mistakes imaginable and I just recently opened up to my wife about it. Now I have to put together the pieces of what happened when all of those pieces are buried... somewhere that I cant remember. I cant find the root. But Ive already made a lifelong decision to never do such toxic behavior before any of this came out. I refuse to be as reckless, petty and thoughtless with my wife's feelings. Been with my wife for 7 years. We were renting out a house with my little brother and cousin. Two of my best and most trustworthy friends. My wife moved out 7 weeks and wanted a divorce. I found out the root cause of the cheating is my ability to be a financial provider for the family. During this COVID pandemic I will find a work and work till I have sufficient cash but here's my question. Is this a justified cause for me to be happy if I can provide and just neglect the fact she cheated? It took me about 24 hours to get the concrete proof that I needed and I ended the relationship the next morning and kicked her out that evening. I have no problem removing toxic, dysfunctional people from my life.
I've been with my girl for 6 and a half years. 3 weeks ago she accused me of cheating for the millionth time of cheating, because I could not answer her call while in a meeting. I video called her back while in the meeting, but she hung up after 10 seconds. I always fall to my knees trying to convince my innocence's to her, but I was so exhausted of the accusations this time that I just texted her "ok" after all the accusations. Cari - Nope. In order for you to build safety for your partner, you need to learn how to master the frameworks and the mindsets. You master the frameworks and mindsets, you grow your self-esteem (Self efficacy and self-worth). You grow your self esteem, you no longer NEED safety yourself. You can WANT safety, but you won't NEED safety. This is the essence of what makes great leaders.

Yup - We talk about this. Two things: 1) It's not about the WHAT, but the HOW. I don't think the romantic type of love is special. And I am started to think that the romantic type of love isn't real. I mean about more than half of romantic couples either break up with each other or divorce each other, while most platonic best friends remain friends until death. Also, most people are pretty much comfortable enough to be naked around someone and have sex with someone that they have no romantic feelings towards. So sex isn't really a thing about romance. I think that having a platonic best friend is a lot better than having a romantic partner or spouse is. Having someone who's like a sibling to you is a lot better than having a romantic partner or spouse. Also, you are more likely be much more closer to someone who's like a brother or sister to you than you would be with a romantic partner or spouse. People tend to fight with their partner or spouse a lot more than they do with a platonic best friend, and you never fight with your best friend the way you fight with your partner or spouse. Partners and spouses are just temporary. If you break up or divorce them, it's hard to go back to them. With your platonic best friend, you're going to make things work, because they are your best friend, they are your go to partner. It's always easier to make amends with them than it is with a romantic partner or spouse.

Like an example is that abuse happens a lot in romantic relationships, while abuse is rare in platonic relationships. So there is a lot of abusive romantic relationships, while there is isn't that many abusive platonic relationships. Why do you think abusive romantic relationships have a term for them called "domestic violence", while abusive platonic relationships don't have a term for them? It's because abuse in platonic relationships are very rare, while abuse in romantic relationships happens a lot. And also, a lot of people cheat on their romantic partners with someone else, while most people won't do stuff like that with their platonic best friends. Also, I heard that most people can live a life without romance and can still be happy. But most of the time, if someone doesn't have any platonic friends in their life, it can effect them really bad mentally; much worse than living a life without a romantic partner. In today's world, less people are dating and getting married now, and they seem to be more happy being single rather than being in romantic relationship with someone. Also, you're going to have a much deeper spoken understanding and connection with your best friend than you are with a romantic partner or spouse.

Tell her...sincerely. Tell her you f*cked up, that you are a human that makes bad choices and that you regret those choices. She needs to hear that you regret the pain you caused...even if she won't take you back. If you really love her like this, you will tell her all of this and more even if it is just to give her some peace of mind to help HER heal without her taking you back. As a betrayed partner...hearing my husband tell me over and over and over again that it was the worst choice of his life and seeing him work so hard on our marriage is what is helping me rebuild trust In him. My husband NEVER talked about his feelings before this...even when I begged and pleaded. So, seeing him be vulnerable and seeing him work so hard to be open and vulnerable about everything is a HUGE deal for me. Your lady needs to see that you are hurting...that she actually DID mean something to you despite you making a horrible selfish decision.

Ive heard some pretty good things about it and my brother in law got cool success with it.

I am a marriage therapist, so I work with trust & communication issues all the time. Geoffrey made several excellent suggestions -- but I'd like him to clarify how he would help a couple to have an "emotional" conversation about the root problem and the win/win solutions. Is he saying that emotions must be addressed rather than ignored? That seems obvious, but it is a crucial point, especially for men, who generally want to get right to the fix and avoid all those messy emotions.
wow, I found it a generalization to say especially men avoid emotions. By my exoerience woman often times are not able to express their emotions and instead trying to trigger men with cues. Where men quickly can express emotions and expect woman to do so instead of triggering them, which mostly affects men's emotions in a negative way. Because it make them feel ignored.

I'm here because my partner lost my trust, our daughter is only just 4months old and I discovered him being disloyal even though we talked about how lies (cheating and other forms of mental and physical hurts).
Even though we spoke about this before our daughter was born he decided to stray, lied and I found out almost 3months after, when I first came to him I told him how I was feeling.
He made promises that he would change then repeatedly did what he told me he wouldn't.

Well this definitely helps a lot….my partner and I are really trying to ease into trust and slowly working to healing and moving forward. We almost rushed back into being “lovey dovey” with each other but instead she felt pressured which I understood so what we decided was to create space where we see each other once a week to not be overwhelmed but the rest of the days we reflect and work on communication with each other and ourselves. We both really want this to work but every now and then which I completely understand she has those days where she wants to “throw in the towel” to my response is I don’t blame her if she did it is not easy trying to repair but if we both do it together as well as work on being the best of ourselves I know we can best. Difficulty right now are those days when she feels like giving up and shutting down. I want to understand why but sometimes it is cases where it is her siblings talking bad. How do I reassure her or help her understand that I want to grow with her, that I am bettering myself, and am serious about progressing towards a new and better us? She currently believes that I am just doing this temporarily but she says she would like it if I prove her wrong so I’m doing to the best of my ability to do so just days that she wants to give up hit her hard and my question is how can I help her even more on those days without overwhelming her or her feeling like I’m just repeating/telling her what she wants to here?

I still feel horrible after I was caught texting another girl. we talked about why I did it and we both decided to give each other space and work on ourselves because my girlfriend still really wants to be with me so I’ve asked her different ways I could improve the relationship and she’s been asking me how she could too. What if you're the instigator, if you cheated a long time ago and you cant remember all of the reasons why you did what you did?? I feel so lost and confused and desperate. My wife is the best thing that's ever happened to me. I made the biggest mistakes imaginable and I just recently opened up to my wife about it. Now I have to put together the pieces of what happened when all of those pieces are buried... somewhere that I cant remember. I cant find the root.
But Ive already made a lifelong decision to never do such toxic behavior before any of this came out. I refuse to be as reckless, petty and thoughtless with my wife's feelings. I refuse to do such awful things and take her trust for granted

Cari - Nope. In order for you to build safety for your partner, you need to learn how to master the frameworks and the mindsets. You master the frameworks and mindsets, you grow your self-esteem (Self efficacy and self-worth). You grow your self esteem, you no longer NEED safety yourself. You can WANT safety, but you won't NEED safety. This is the essence of what makes great leaders.

My only suggestions is to have an open and honest discussion about the pain and hurt you two feel. Isn't this what partners are suppose to do, work through tough issues and differences?

Yup - We talk about this. Two things:
1) It's not about the WHAT, but the HOW. We recently made a video about this.
2) This is a classic paradox of change and why you need to be able to thrive through resistance via your internal shifts. I have many videos on this too.

Idk if this message gonna be too late cause the vid is old but im having problems with my wife, we've been together for 7 years and she broke up with me for things I did wrong in the past wich seem she kept them and also cause I mistreated her and ignored her by not giving the attention she deserved , I've been watching all your vids to try to understand and I have at least most of it but while I'm trying to work on my self to prove my self I'm worth and can fix things up by my action while letting her heal and giving her space I still feel like it might not work and like you said before she can see through my stuff according to her but im being as unique and honest as I can be... what am I doing wrong???

What if you caught them cheating, have the evidence and she hasn't confessed. Do I confront her about it when she claims that we're separated? We live in the same apartment and in the same bed with my 3 year old daughter.

I don't think the romantic type of love is special. And I am started to think that the romantic type of love isn't real. I mean about more than half of romantic couples either break up with each other or divorce each other, while most platonic best friends remain friends until death.
Also, most people are pretty much comfortable enough to be naked around someone and have sex with someone that they have no romantic feelings towards. So sex isn't really a thing about romance.
I think that having a platonic best friend is a lot better than having a romantic partner or spouse is. Having someone who's like a sibling to you is a lot better than having a romantic partner or spouse. Also, you are more likely be much more closer to someone who's like a brother or sister to you than you would be with a romantic partner or spouse.
People tend to fight with their partner or spouse a lot more than they do with a platonic best friend, and you never fight with your best friend the way you fight with your partner or spouse. Partners and spouses are just temporary. If you break up or divorce them, it's hard to go back to them. With your platonic best friend, you're going to make things work, because they are your best friend, they are your go to partner. It's always easier to make amends with them than it is with a romantic partner or spouse.

Like an example is that abuse happens a lot in romantic relationships, while abuse is rare in platonic relationships. So there is a lot of abusive romantic relationships, while there is isn't that many abusive platonic relationships.
Why do you think abusive romantic relationships have a term for them called "domestic violence", while abusive platonic relationships don't have a term for them? It's because abuse in platonic relationships are very rare, while abuse in romantic relationships happens a lot.
And also, a lot of people cheat on their romantic partners with someone else, while most people won't do stuff like that with their platonic best friends.
Also, I heard that most people can live a life without romance and can still be happy. But most of the time, if someone doesn't have any platonic friends in their life, it can effect them really bad mentally; much worse than living a life without a romantic partner. In today's world, less people are dating and getting married now, and they seem to be more happy being single rather than being in romantic relationship with someone.
Also, you're going to have a much deeper spoken understanding and connection with your best friend than you are with a romantic partner or spouse.
