      If you can’t use this combo just stay away from casters seriously it’s a entry level combo period i Just bought a few for 30$ at my local Walmart I’ve used tons of reels and have high end gear learn how to use a casting reel before you come to a conclusion this is a great combo for the price especially if you can get it on sale

      I believe I have 15 pound fluoro on this reel. Check out my last video about casting a Baitcaster. It goes through how to properly adjust any baitcasting reel to avoid backlashes! You will want to adjust your tension pretty regularly so there isn’t one specific setting to keep it on. However I would turn the breaks up pretty high if not all the way up.

  • @LastBastian
    @LastBastian ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I'm inexperienced, never used this style reel before. First cast, the line spool became a complete rats nest. Seems unusable. What am I doing wrong?
    How do you cast this thing?

    • @InlineOutdoors

      Also what kind of line did you put on the line?

    • @alotek2408
      @alotek2408 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Bastian. You have to adjust the brakes and tension on a reel like this. Also, use your thumb to stop the reel from spinning once your lure/bait hits the water. The rats nest is a result of the spool still spinning while your lure is no longer moving. Hope that helps.

    • @LastBastian

    Hi! Is it good for deep crankbaits? ( Medium Heavy version)

    • @InlineOutdoors
      @InlineOutdoors  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The medium heavy version definitely would have enough backbone. The only thing I would be concerned about is whether or not it will cast far enough to get you as deep as you want them to. However, you could probably get by with a small diameter line to get those casts out a little further?

    • @InlineOutdoors
      @InlineOutdoors  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You may have to tighten down the knob on the side, and the brake on the other side. Tighten it down so when you cast it won’t go very far, once you get more adjusted to it without birds nesting, then slowly undo the knob so you can start casting farther. Baitcasters can be difficult if you’ve never used one, do you have anybody that you know that could help you learn how to use it?

    • @LastBastian
      @LastBastian ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@InlineOutdoors I'm using the line that came on it. I tried adjusting both dials on either side, but I have idea what they're for, or how they are supposed to be.
      No matter how I adjust it though, every cast just flings hard to my left, no matter what, and the line in the spool becomes a complete mess, no matter what.
      Im at a cabin with my family. None of us a fishermen. The other style reels we bought work fine, but they aren't strong enough.
      Big fish keep snapping the line.

    • @InlineOutdoors
      @InlineOutdoors  ปีที่แล้ว

      @@LastBastian Mine didn’t come with line on it. In my experience, the line that comes on reels is usually twisted, old, and frail. I would recommend getting new line for it. I think I have a link to some power pro in the description. If you can find that stuff in stores, I would recommend it. It’s much more forgiving than the monofilament line that comes with most reels.

    • @InlineOutdoors
      @InlineOutdoors  ปีที่แล้ว

      @@LastBastian Also, the dial is to adjust the brakes on the reels. If you turn it up all the way, it should reduce back lashes. The knob by the handle, is the spool tensioner knob. It adjusts how easily the line spins off the spool. Try tightening that one a bit as well until you get the hang of it. What kind of baits are you throwing with it? (Sorry if this information overload lol)

      @@InlineOutdoors Tried a lure at first, but when I realized it wasn't working, I just stuck a sinker on while trying to figure it out...
      Sorry, my daughter just caught her first fist just now on one of the other poles! A catfish. I had to stop and help, just cleaned it. 👍
      Anyway, my wife and have both been watching videos and messing with this rod for a while now. See.s like maybe you're supposed to keep your thumb on the line/spool at all times?
      Even when switching hands and feeling in?
      Either way, simply will not cast no matter what we've tried. It flings hard to the left, when it comes out at all. And it rats nests, or birds nests every time. ???
      I can loosen the tension all the way, and the line still doesn't come out very well. We keep straightening out the line my manual walking it out, one person hiding the pole, the other walking away with the line.
      But as soon as we cast, it's ruined again instantly 🤷‍♂️
