This video is definitely a hidden gem. Thanks Marv for this video as the thought of subtitling videos manually was a huge plague in causing me not to add subtitles to my content. Definitely gotta try this out at least once!
This is great! Very clear and concise. May I ask why you don't add the audio directly into Descript at the outset to get the transcription done in there rather than starting with Otter, and then moving it across to Descript?
Awesome video! Great information, and your style is perfect! Just a question - why don't you export srt directly from otter, as I know this is possible? Also, do you know how to sync audio to video if there are long periods of silence? Thanks again for the great vid!
Thank you for the kind words! Yes, export with Otter is definitely possible. At the time of this recording, you could only export 60 minutes of audio to srt before commiting to a monthly plan. Audio to video if there are long periods of silence? Let me put together some tips and I'll show you how I deal with desync. Great questions!
Man, this was awesome! You should’ve been like a professor or something. You know how to explain stuff well. For someone who most likely won’t be doing this, all I have is a few game videos and videos of my Tweetheart. I actually understand how to do this if I decided to!
Believe it or not, I don't use a teleprompter...yet. I actually ran through and memorized my entire script for this video a few times before recording it
Awesome video and explanations. Very clear info. Just for curiosity and future use, is there software available besides your two that does a great job of playing the video and automatically generate an accurate srt file? I have a lot of older (1980-1990's) IBM mainframe conference videos I'd love to look back at and create srt files for.
You're welcome, Street! Take it, share it, and even discover more workflows that work best for you. I just want to eliminate the accessibility barrier creators have when it comes to their content.
I didn't catch one point - I noticed that there is a DETECT SPEAKER option in descript. I wonder if I have an automatical transcript (made by Auto-generated TH-cam subtitles, for example), can Detect remake this transcript with good subtitles WITH a SPEAKER indication? It's very important for me, cause I'm a video translator and I have to stamp SPEAKERS manually which is really annoying
I need your help bro.. I produce videos with english subtitles and after uploading youtube, i add subtitles again. So I do the same thing twice and it's tiring. How can I convert the subtitles in the video I produced to the mp4 to srt format?
But one more thing I wanna know...how can we Increase timestamp of srt. File in descrip. For ex - I gave my client his project 00:00:02:140 --> 00:00:06:724 But he wants that section should be big like 00:00:02:140 -> 00:00:11:143
Thank you for watching!
Let me know. Did this video persuade you to think twice about your future content before you hit that publish button?
It totally does make me rethink how I'll do my content. As a podcast maker, this gives me so much more material to use.

Thank you, Tess! Definitely try it out for yoursef and let me know how it goes
This is going to make my TikToks and TH-cam edits a lot more better now, this really helped out a lot. Thanks so much Marv,, great stuff!!
You're welcome! I'm just always looking for ways to make the creation process a lot less tedious for everyone. TY for the kind words

Maybe they changed some features, it is transcribing it without giving me the option to paste my own....
Now you can use "whisper" AI from open AI instead
