MickeyJo's question probably comes from the fact that Olivier Awards include Off-West End theatres, as long as you pay a certain fee, you can get your show considered in the Olivier.
Ahh this is helpful context--thank you! I do stand by my answer tho :)
Have you considered dramaturgy? Also... I think I'm gonna build a theatre from the ground up if you want to help lol
Yes!! Also--do it. That's incredible.
I'd definitely be keen to hear more about directing! Regional vs broadway or in general!
On it :)
what is jeremy jordan like in person??? who has been your favorite actor and producer you’ve worked with?? ah your channel makes me happy !! i want to do what you do when im older !!
He is honestly the BEST. Generous, goofy, and a total pro. Favorite? Oh there's literally no way I could choose. I adore soooooo many people I've worked with. Gatsby cast is pretty darn special, but so was Ohio cast and Shucked! And I love hearing that you wanna work in the biz when you're older--get it!!
it is so refreshing to hear that jeremy is as amazing as he seems. i would LOVEE to work in the biz when im older, i have so many actors/producers/directors/actresses that i would DIEE to work with!! thank you for showing realistically what it is like to work in such a competitive business!!
Thanks for picking my question! In NY next week and seeing Gatsby on the 23rd!
Yesss I hope you love the party! And thanks for asking :)
Hi Katharine, I just returned from a week of seeing Broadway shows and am alarmed by the number of low-attended shows and potential early closing of some of them. Given the need for financial backers to support longer openings and national tours; what changes need to be made and what can those of us who appreciate the genre do to support the arts moving forward? Thank you for your continued work in NYC to benefit the arts.
This is such a good question that deserves a whole video on its own, honestly. I think for patrons and fans, outside of just continuing to see shows, amplifying your experience on social media and sharing with friends how great it was is HUGE. We have access to more media than ever before, so word of mouth is even more valuable. More broadly, we need a big shift in our entire model for commercial theatre--one that I hope is coming with livestreaming sooner rather than later.
Annie or Oliver form the xmas show. Those always sell.
You're not wrong!
Thanks.
Urinetown is going to be at NY City Center in 2025.
I AM SO EXCITED!
As a non-NYC based, black actress I find Broadway extremely inaccessible (I have 2 degrees in theatre. If Broadway was accessible to me & my community I would have accessed it by now). Any advice on have a non-NYC centric theatrical career?
Broadway *IS* inaccessible--you're totally right and I hope that continues to evolve. It depends on which area you're in--I'm from Dallas and I can count on one hand the number of performers who make their living EXCLUSIVELY in theatre there. The more secure ways to make a living in theatre outside of NY are in the BTS jobs--admin, development, marketing, etc. Are any of those of interest??
Why is it like working with Broadway Star!??
In my experience, awesome. I've gotten very lucky in that the folks I'm working with are very kind and game to play!
Good Morning. I'm upset i wasn't able to go up north from virginia to see Lempicka. Wish Tamera & Rafela ended up together . Do you think. Lempicka could have closed after tony awards show?. Wish Broadway musicals could have trailers say people across the country can know. Do you think the original cast of In The Heights could have been filmed & put it on Disney+?. Thanks in advance.
I wish there were a pro shot of In the Heights! I adore that show. I loved the movie too, though. And unfortunately Lempicka sales just weren't strong enough to keep it open any longer.
@@itskatharinequinn the only reason that kept me from seeing Lempicka was when I found I Tamika and Rafela didn't up together. such lesbian click bait. felt homphobic.
