I'm 38. I just fully accepted and embraced that I was likely bi/on the bi spectrum a little before my birthday, this summer. I questioned things on and off for decades, but was just like, "well I don't fit in the box, so that's not me," and tried to fit the church mold for a very long time, even attending a church college and being very involved in YA and music in the church until 2020. I have autism and am still a little dependent on my ultra conservative parents and I live in the middle of nowhere/ maga country. Finding community feels impossible. Coming out to my parents feels impossible. I cried when I went into the city for my first pride parade and festival with my best friend. I just... don't know where to start beyond that.

I came out when I was 13. I only told my immediate family and my grandparents (I had been out at school for several months) and they were all cool about it. My mom especially, as she’d known since I was ~6. And I never had to come out to my extended family since my one other cousin who was out (a trans lesbian), asked me at dinner once “so you’re gay right”. I said “yup” and that was how my entire family found out I liked girls
